Roy’s Trade Talk: Rd 10

Roy is here to give you a few players to look at this week, but more importantly, use the comments section to discuss you trade ideas.

Cash Cows: Price, BE, Score

  • Jordan Ridley (DEF, $205,000) -14, 89. Was considered the second best rookie making his debut for the Bombers last week, yet turned out to be the pick of them in week one with a whopping 25 possessions and seven marks while going at 80% efficiency. He has a low BE and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
  • Tim Smith (FWD, $212,000) -9 86 had a great game for the Dees, albeit against the Blues where he chopped out in the ruck for nine hit outs while also gathering 18 possessions, taking five marks and laying five tackles in an impressive performance.

Trade Targets

  • Jack Macrae (MID, $885,000) 105, 144. I’m not exactly going out on a limb here by mentioning the most expensive and in form player in the competition but there is currently 85% of teams not rolling with him or his 150 average over the last three. With a game coming up against his favourite opponent, the Pies I think it’s a sell the farm moment the put the C on him. The more you sit on your hands with Macrae, the harder it is to improve ranking, or get a win if you play a Macrae owner. He hasn’t gone under 115 in his last four vs the Pies with a top of 139.
  • Jeremy Howe (DEF, $644,000) 55, 132 embraced the loose man role over the last month with three thumping scores of 131, 123 and 132 which went hand in hand with a huge spike in marks, tallying 12, 11 and 11 in that time. Has a great fixture over the next two weeks with games against the Dogs and Dockers.
  • Jake Lloyd (DEF, $669,000) 52, 163 can be a rollercoaster, but the ceiling we saw on the weekend is one you don’t want to miss and in the past month, he has been very consistent by his standards with three scores of 120 or over in that time. He plays the Lions this week so another serviceable return should be on the cards.
  • Jack Darling (FWD, $644,000) 34, 151 who would have thought?! He has always promised so much, but he finally delivering with his 151 on the weekend topping off a career best month with four hundreds in a row and five in six weeks. It is obviously a risky selection, but the way he looked on the weekend, it has to be tempting.
  • Toby McLean (FWD/MID, $701,000) 98, 101 remains the must have forward, despite ticking over 700K. He is the most reliable on the lot with only one poor game for the season and that was round one. Since then he hasn’t gone under 87 and has six hundreds in that time. Although its only a couple of weeks away, he has the round 12 bye which will help us navigate the problematic round 13.

Rolling 22

Defenders:

Rory Laird
Elliot Yeo
Sic Dawg
Kade Simpson
Jake Lloyd
Jeremy Howe

Seed and Whitfield get the arse, Howe with three thumpers in the last four as loose man can’t be ignored and Llyod’s 160 and three 120+ in last four was enough to give him a run.

Midfielders:

Tom Mitchell
Stephen Coniglio
Patrick Dangerfield
Ed Curnow
Scott Pendlebury
Jack Macrae
Adam Treloar
Nat Fyfe

Gibbs bounced back well last week, but he needed more to keep Curnow out.
Ruck:

Max Gawn
Brodie Grundy

Forward:

Robbie Gray
Isaac Heeney
Toby Mclean
Lance Franklin
Jack Darling
Tom Rockliff

Menegola can have a spell to think about things and Taranto has been hard done by but Darling literally beat the door down. Hoff out as well.
My trades at this stage:

Doedee to Ridley
Brayshaw to Macrae
