AFL Team Sheets Round Three

Round three is upon us and team sheets are in. This week is arguably the first where we’ve faced carnage, with multiple popular selections missing through injury, suspension and omission.

Tom Scully succumbs to a broken ankle against the Pies.

Leading the OUTs this week is Tom Scully (Mid $539,000) who misses for the Giants after breaking his ankle against Collingwood on the weekend. Joining him on the GWS bench is Zac Langdon (Fwd $220,000) who is set to miss four weeks with a broken hand. This will come to an inconvenience to his coaches as he was providing handy bench cover for the 19% who selected him.

For the Crows, premium midfielder Matt Crouch (Mid $721,000) will be out with a hamstring injury. Crouch unfortunately went down against the Tigers after scoring just 33 points. Also out for the Crows is first year player Darcy Fogarty (Fwd/Mid $270,000) who has been omitted for the returning Tom Lynch (Fwd $640,000).

The reigning premiers Richmond have lost Josh Caddy (Mid/Fwd $552,000) to suspension and in turn have decided it’s time for Dion Prestia (Mid $577,000) to make his return.Joining Caddy in Michael Christensen’s bad books and rounding out the triple j special are resident bad boy James Sicily (Def/Fwd $534,000) and Jack Bowes (Def $380,000); all of whom are set to miss for one week.

Big man Matthew Kreuzer (Ruck $720,000) returns for the Blues, whilst dynamic midfielder Scott Selwood (Mid $704,000) has been named on the extended interchange bench for the Cats Sunday game against the Eagles. In terms of rookie selections, junior swine Jack Higgins (Fwd/Mid $238,000) has also made his way onto the extended  bench. Higgins averaged 110 at TAC cup level and could be a handy cash cow if he can establish some decent job security. Also in line to make his AFL debut is St Kilda defender Nicholas Coffield (Def/Mid $256,000), who comes in after an abysmal team performance where the Saints went down by 52 points to North Melbourne. Joining Coffield coming in for the Saints is Luke Dunstan (Mid $617,000) who was a surprise absentee from their round one squad.

Nick Coffield has been named to debut this weekend for the Saints.

Keep watch as the Sunday extended benches will be finalised on Friday and we get a better idea of who made need to go! Feel free to ask questions and start discussion below or you can reach me on twitter at JelmsDT.

  • Which Option
1.Sicily to Coffield and Hibberd to Simpson (this means English is at F6) – +177k
2.Sicily to Coffield and Langdon to Taranto (this means hibberd stays) + 20k
3.Hibberd to LukeRyan and Langdon to Higgins(F6)(this means i hold sicily) +50k

    • risky dropping uber sicdawg to coffield, when he may only be in for a round or two? so i technically like pick 3 best.

    • Yeah I like option 3. I’d be trading Hibberd ahead of Sicily if it were me. I also think Higgins could be real good.

  • should i get ryan or gowers in RDT i can only fit 1

  • Sicily to Laird
    Rayner to Gowers/Waterman/Polson?

  • Is it risky to bring Coffield in straight away? What’s his JS going to be like?

  • So currently have Hibberd (D2), Sic dawg (D3), Duncan (M3) and Langdon (F7) requiring attention and 41K in the bank.

Playing AF and going for total points, who are the most pressing trades here?

Currently thinking Duncan and Hibberd out, Sic dawg to pine with Naughton in to D6.

    Who to bring in???

    Team:
DEF-Laird, Hibbo, Sic, Doedee, Finlayson, Murray (A.Pearce, A.Naughton)
MID-Titch, Dusty, Duncan, Conig, Parker, A.Bray, Kelly, Holman (Dow, Banfield)
    RUCK- Gawn, Stef (English, Cameron)
FWD-Billings, Heeney, D.Smith, Christensen, Waterman, Fritsch (Rayner, Langdon).

    Thoughts???

    • Yeah, I’d agree with keeping Sicily and trading those 2.

Duncan wouldn’t be the worst to hold onto and you could trade Langdon to Higgins, so that you aren’t trading a premo (who surely will play next week?). I think that would be pretty safe as Higgins could be played ahead of Waterman.

If you are set on trading Sicily and Duncan, I would be looking to bring in Gibbs and Luke Ryan.
Ryan is a like for like with Sicily and is virtually the same price. Gibbs is a gun.

You also need to do something with Rayner… I would almost be moving him on this week to save the cash. Bench Duncan and Sicily, Rayner to Higgins and Sicily to Ryan??

I’m not too sure what to do there, it’s a tough one. There’s some food for thought, at least…

      • Thanks DBoms – our comp is for total points at end of season so missing a premo in rd 1 not great. Plus hearing that 2 weeks more for duncan isn’t out of the question (no such thing as a 1 wk hammy!).

So dunc for 1 trade (despite him being my boy) which leaves sic or hibbo for the other trade. Even though sic isnt playing this week – the amount that hibbo drops even with a good game this week hurts the back pocket if i trade him later in season so i think probably him before sic at this stage i think. ..

        • Yeah fair enough. Although I just read an article saying he trained today and will be right for next week…
Although who knows what to believe.

And yep, definitely Hibberd before Sicily. Apologies that last comment should have said Hibberd to Ryan.

I think I confused myself in that last comment haha, I was supposed to be talking about trading out Hibberd not Sicily. I would still look at Ryan though.

  • Who do I field out of Jacobs, Banfield or Brayshaw in mids this week?
