West Coast AFL Fantasy Classic Prices 2018

West Coast were Ranked 2nd averaging 1696.6 fantasy team points between Rounds 1-8 in 2017, they averaged 1552.6pts in their final 14 H&A season games which was Ranked 16th. The drop in output by the Eagles was also reflected in their Disposals, they averaged 396.4 Disposals between Rounds 1-8 & 365.3 Disposals between Rounds 9-23.

The fall in fantasy points for West Coast was likely attributed to the strength of their opponents, in the first 8 Rounds the Eagles opponents were Ranked 11.9 in average fantasy points conceded for the 2017 H&A season and between Rounds 9-23 they were Ranked at an average of 8.4.

The West Coast midfield is in a transformation period with Nic Naitanui returning to action & Matthew Priddis & Sam Mitchell retiring at the end of last season, there are definitely opportunities available for players to increase midfield minutes. The Eagles were Ranked 13th in fantasy team points last season.

2018 Potential Targets:

Nic Naitanui RUCK $417K

Naitanui’s price tag could be too good to refuse & will likely result in high ownership from fantasy coaches at Round 1, the value and savings that comes along with rostering him allows for other important selections to be made. Other situations to consider when starting with Nic Nat at Round 1, will the Eagles persist with Lycett or Vardy in the starting 22 thus hindering his output in a dual Ruck scenario & coming off an ACL what sort of impact will he have in year 1? In 2015 Naitanui averaged 86.0pts during the H&A season, he averaged 76.8pts between Rounds 1-8 & 96.0pts between Rounds 9-23.

Elliot Yeo DEF $692K

Yeo is likely the player to benefit most from the retirements of Priddis & Mitchell, he averaged 107.6pts in his opening 11 games of the 2017 H&A season but only 88.1pts between Rounds 13-23 finishing with a 98.3 average. Much maligned for his scoring volatility in the past 2018 looms as a more consistent year for Yeo, it is worthwhile monitoring his current Hip injury throughout the pre-season.

Jack Redden MID $588K

There should be a clear pathway for Redden’s fantasy game to excel in 2018, he is priced at 83.5pts to begin the new season after averaging 97.9pts from his final 8 games of the 2017 H&A season. Redden averaged 94.0pts or more in his final 5 years at Brisbane before joining West Coast in 2016, more playing time.. more mid time.. great value!

Brendon Ah Chee MID/FWD $392K

Ah Chee should be given more opportunity at West Coast than he previously had at Port Adelaide, given his new environment he could thrive in 2018. When averaging 20 or more Disposals Ah Chee has averaged 89.2pts over his career, when averaging 15 Disposals or more he has averaged 77.6pts. If he is named at Round 1 then he should be strongly considered.

Francis Watson DEF $170K / Liam Ryan FWD $220K / Willie Rioli FWD $170K

All 3 will likely see action in 2018 and should be considered when named, worth monitoring the JLT Series for minutes played & points per minute for each.

  • To be honest yeo averaged more whilst playing half back, not through the mid. When he moved into the mid and duggen played halfback he didn’t score as well. If he plays mid this year, which i think he will be, might not score as well.
Redden lock for me, if francis and Rioli names round 1 easy locks

  • nic nat in my opinion the most over hyped player ever. injury porn. cant Mark balls or kick straight. athletic yes. elite footballer negative. so many better options.

  • injury pron oops haha damn

  • Nic Nat is an interesting one. Even if injury “porn” he has the potential to earn some quick cash. Really don’t want to select him but upside vs his starting price might just be too good.

Redden the other one looking really tempting.

  • yeah didn’t realize his starting price will increase but i like witts more

  • When can we start making our team again ???

  • I stay away every year, inconsistent team inconsistent scores just like highlighted in the article.
