AFL Teams 2017: Round 12

Full weekend teams are out! Check Sunday extended bench selections ~5pm Friday.

5:20pm Friday 09/06/2017

Sunday Extended bench selections are in. Ben Ainsworth (Mid/Fwd $288,000) is also a new inclusion for the suns with Callum AhChee out.
Daniel Lloyd (Mid/Fwd $219,000) and Sam Petrevski-Seton (Mid/Fwd $370,000) are omissions.

Friday Updates

6:25pm Thursday 08/06/2017

Remaining teamsheets are in! Confirmation of a new debut for crows with Jonathon Beech (Fwd $150,000). Chad Wingard (Fwd/Mid $500,000) is back in for port. And worst kept secret, Brennan Cox (Def/Fwd $170,000) is actually making his debut. Dallas Willsmore (Mid $175,000) and Will Brodie (Mid $241,000 ) are omitted limiting our rookie options. And yes Tom Rockliff (Mid $723,000) is in!
unfortunately we won’t know before lockout if Jay Kennedy-Harris (Fwd $195,000) will make the cut. However because of his crazy performance in the seconds getting 47 disposals, I’d argue his chances of selection are quite high! You’d have to be a true gambler though to take the plunge.

5:00pm Thursday 08/06/2017

Teamsheets for remaining weekend teams from ~6:25pm tonight, its potentially going to be a bit of a scramble with tonight’s partial lockout match being at 7:20pm. Early news rookie Brennan Cox (Def/Fwd $170,000) to debut for Freo (Correction, this tweet was deleted on twitter…accidental early announcement?), and we have confirmation of speculation that Callum Brown (Mid/Fwd $182,000) will debut, which is handy to know since he plays the Monday game. UPDATE: Ryan Nyhuis (Def $150,000) was just upgraded from rookie list. Chance of debut?

Thursday Updates

6:25pm Wednesday 07/06/2017

Thursday Partial lockout teamsheet is in. Previously Fantasy relevant players Matthew Boyd (Def $468,000) and Kieren Jack (Mid/Fwd $425,000) are inclusions, but you’d want to see more from them for Fantasy relevancy this year. A few teams may have had Tom Boyd (Back), Robert Murphy (Hamstring) as PODs, and unfortunately for them they are out.

5:30pm Wednesday 07/06/2017

Round 12, another partial lockout with an early Thursday match and another Bye round. Not as painful though with only 4 teams missing Cats, Roos, Tigers, and Eagles. Also note that the match on Thursday is a bit earlier starting at 7:20pm, so you have even smaller window to muck around with teams with full round teams announced at 6:25pm.
And last but not least, we have a Monday game Dees vs Pies, of which we won’t know extended bench selections before full lockout.
Early news, we won’t be seeing a return of Nick Riewoldt (Fwd $531,000) or Aaron Sandilands (Ruck $466,000) from injuries. Neither Tom Boyd (Ruck/Fwd $384,000) or Tom Liberatore (Mid $419,000) were sighted at the airport on their trip up to Sydney.
And a few picked up Jarrod Harbrow (Def $490,000) last week with previously decent scores and good bye rounds…well…1 week team imposed ban due to off field drink driving incident. What a mare.
Jamie Elliott, Tyson Goldsack, and Daniel Wells are set to miss Monday’s match. Will Callum Brown (Mid/Fwd $182,000) make his debut? Annoyingly we won’t know for sure as its a Monday game. Keep an eye out for news of his possible Debut.

Shags’ Watchlist

eng
In a year where there have been literally no ruck rookies for weeks, Timothy English (Ruck $210,000) is a rare breed. Many would argue that $210k is too much for a rookie who scores 33. He has had his byes out of the way and hes pretty much the only ruck rookie playing so thats an extra player on your field over the byes. Dogs may play him a bit more into it so some might take the punt especially if it nets a bit of cash.

Shags’ Watchlist

beech
Rookies are rare. $150k rookies even rarer. So those who want to maximise bang for their buck may take a punt on Jonathon Beech ($150,000) who gets his chance at the crows. He’s a mature-age recruit who has averaged 20 disposals and could be a decent downgrade if he can keep his spot. A few players fighting to get in the 22 at the crows so Job security would be shaky.

newnes
Doubling up on my watchlist for this match because I simply couldn’t ignore Jack Newnes (Mid/Def $504,000) who is recently given defender status, his bye out of the way, has good recent form, and a low price due to a 10 from a concussion. He will be a popular upgrade for teams this week.

Shags’ Watchlist

hanley
Irishman Pearce Hanley (Mid/Def $444,000) has earnt a defender status, just like the good ol days. He comes cheap, and because of a low score of 30 and a BE of 90 he could become even cheaper. A score of 121 last week is very promising that he can be a premium defender again. Might be best to wait at least 1 more week to assess since his BE is fairly high.

Shags’ Watchlist

pig
Any excuse to put the Pig on my watchlist, Tom Rockliff (Mid $723,000) is back in, and we know what we get, an absolute point scoring legend. Only concern is that he comes at a hefty price tag, but he’s the Pig and we know if he stays fit will be top 8 midfield. Indeed very likely top altogether.

Shags’ Watchlist

chad
The Chad is back, as in Chad Wingard (Mid/Fwd $500,000) who was in strong form before his injury. Annoyingly he lost a bit of his trade in value being injured whilst suns and port players had high currency. I’m still watching for his role back in the port side, and if he scores another tonne or two you have to consider still.

doch
A bit of a captain obvious call, but if for some reason you still don’t have Sam Docherty (Def $664,000) now with his bye out of the way its a good time to get him in. Averaging 116.3 for the year, say no more. Comes with a hefty price tag but hes worth it on his form this year.

Shags’ Watchlist

brown
Monday game, so we won’t know extended bench selections before lockout. Fear not for Callum Brown (Mid/Fwd $182,000) as he has been confirmed to debut for the pies. He has an annoying bye status for most. Father son recruit with his dad being Gavin Brown, and has been best on ground in recent VFL games earning a spot in the top 22 with pies having a few injuries, maybe he can hold his spot for a few weeks.

A windy cold day in 2015, I was bored, sick with the flu, and decided to start a blog about Teamsheets. I was immediately recruited by Warnie and somehow am now a DTTALK author. NOTE; Im Back in 2022! woooo Twitter @shagbags2023 ~REMEMBER: Friends don't let friends DT TEAMS become ghost ships.
