AFL Teams 2017: Round 10

Full weekend teams are in. Check them here!

5:00pm Friday 26/05/2017

Sunday extended bench selections are in! Harry Perryman (Def/mid $228,000) and Matthew Scharenberg (Def $234,000) made the cut. But those hoping for Braydon Preuss (Ruck $316,000) didnt make it.
Interestingly Archie Smith (Ruck $342,000) has been named. Bad news for Stef Martin owners?

Friday updates

6:30pm Thursday 25/05/2017

Teams are in! Hawks blooding not one, but two new rookies, with the inclusion of Dallas Willsmore (Mid $150,000) and already knew of James Cousins (Mid $150,000). Tim English (Ruck $214,000) could be a handy ruck rookie inclusion, although pricey for a rookie. The rumours about Nick Riewoldt (Fwd $531,000) are true and he is out with a knee injury.
David Swallow (Mid $419,000) and new recruit Pearce Hanley (Mid $492,000) are in for the suns, but at the price of Gary Ablett. Ivan Soldo (Ruck $189,000 ) run is over, he is omitted.
It appears Fraser McInnes and Kurt Mutimer are ommitted for eagles.
Check Sunday extended bench selection at 5pm tomorrow.
Partial lockout, so make sure you trade any port or cats players before 7:20pm tonight, and have your VC loophole player (likely angerfield) selected.

6:00pm Thursday 25/05/2017

Important update, popular trade in for bye structure this week Gary Ablett (Mid $672,000) will be rested. Quite a few will be hitting reverse trades…

5:00pm Thursday 25/05/2017

Rookie drought? Rubbish. At least 2 more debuts will occur with James Cousins (Mid $150,000) for the hawks and Will Brodie (Mid $234,000) for the suns. The latter being the 9th draft choice and hence the inflated price tag.
There is a good chance Matthew Scharenberg (Def $234,000) should get a game for the pies.
If there is anyone still for some reason holding Jaegar O’Meara (Mid $377,000) hes out for another 3 weeks.

Thursday Updates

9:20pm Wednesday 24/05/2017

Teamsheets are in, and we already knew Chad Wingard (Fwd $500,000) was out with a calf injury. We also see the ommision of rookie Mark O’Connor (Def $156,000) but we see a new rookie Jordan Cunico (Fwd/Mid $150,000) make his debut for the cats.
Yet another partial lockout this week, so once more we will only have a short amount of time to check remaining weekend teamsheets before partial lockout at 7:20pm Thursday.
Some other early news, Aaron Sandilands (Ruck $466,000) will be an out for Freo, and Christian Salem (Def $451,000) will miss 1 week due to a report.

cunico
I keep thinking rookies will dry up, and then we keep getting new ones pop up. Cats are blooding Jordan Cunico (Mid/Fwd $150,000). Described as a fleet footed wing man, and having good pace, this is the sort of rookie that has the potential to score well.
He has averaged 24 disposals in his last 4 outings and seems to be having a bit of a break out in the VFL. Seeing as quite a few cats rookies are being played in and out of the team, Job Security is a bit iffy so I wouldn’t jump on yet, unless you love a stab in the dark.

cousins
With a bit of a fanfare, James Cousins (Mid $150,000) is getting a run for the hawks. Pick number 46, he is averaging 24 disposals and six tackles across his six VFL games, but with 15 tackles in his last game. The tackle count is particularly interesting as its a good way for rookies to get early points. Definitely one to watch.

English
Ruck Rookies like Timothy English (Ruck $214,000) are a very rare breed. Unfortunately he is pricey for a rookie. However Dogs don’t really have a ruck, so you would think if he can play well he might be able to hold his spot. Could be a boon over the byes if he does, maybe look to trade in after his bye round 11.

Shags’ Watchlist

brodie
Will Brodie (Mid $234,000) is annoyingly expensive for a rookie, especially one who could be a temporary inclusion for Gaz. A couple of things are going for him. First, if he keeps his spot he will play through the bye weeks. Hes also a very high draft pick at number 9 in last years draft and reports are hes a solid contested ball midfielder.

Are you a bit of a punter? Then maybe you might take a punt on last years revelation David Zaharakis (Mid $512,000) who hasnt had the greatest start this year, and lost a bit of cash as a result. His last two games have shown signs of his last years form with 120 and 139. If you think he can keep this up, then nows the time to grab him with that BE of 56.

walters
Michael Walters (Fwd $426,000) is getting a run in the mids. As a result he has scored 137, 118 in his last 2 games. If you back him in to keep getting played in the mid, then he will be a great forward option and he is still cheap. Warning, in is normal forward role he has scored in the 30s, so if he returns to his old role, you will be burnt badly.

gwood
A double watchlist for this match, because after watching the game last week how could I possibly miss Hugh Greenwood (Mid/Fwd $180,000) who scored 93 in his first match and has a BE -14, and the rookie likely everyone is trading in this week.

sch
With a shortage of def rookie options, a few might look at Matthew Scharenberg (Def $234,000). Hes been extremely limited by injuries the last few years, his Job Security should be pretty good a a replacement for Aish. He was pick 6 in 2013, and has gunned in the VFL with a staggering 36 disposals and 10 marks in his past three games. Although there is always the risk he plays a lock down key position defense role. Make sure you check extended bench selections 5pm Friday.

goldi
Todd Goldstein (Ruck $543,000) was an absolute monster against a ruckless dees last week getting a massive 148. Goldi has been down this year, but is this a sign hes coming back to form. Personally would watch and maybe upgrade after his Bye round 12.

Shags’ Watchlist

lloyd
Daniel Lloyd (Mid $183,000) performance last week of 44 was a bit underwhelming, however the good thing for him is his Job Security with all those GWS mids out he should get a few games. I wouldnt want him on field, but he could be a good slowburn on your bench, and his role may improve with all those injuries. Make sure you check extended bench selection at 5pm on Friday, named on field doesn’t mean he is safe.

A windy cold day in 2015, I was bored, sick with the flu, and decided to start a blog about Teamsheets. I was immediately recruited by Warnie and somehow am now a DTTALK author. NOTE; Im Back in 2022! woooo Twitter @shagbags2023 ~REMEMBER: Friends don't let friends DT TEAMS become ghost ships.
