Friday Updates

6:25pm Thursday 18/05/2017

Teams have dropped! Two debutants for crows with Hugh Greenwood (Mid/Fwd $150,000) and Jordan Gallucci (Mid/Fwd $222,000) and we get to see Shai Bolton (Mid/Fwd $194,000) debut for tiges, as well as Harry Perryman (Def/Mid $224,000) for GWS.
Ivan Soldo (Ruck $172,000) is named again for the tiges! This could influence Nankervis scoring.
Dayne Beams (Mid $581,000) is officially back. Scooter Scott Selwood (Mid $380,000) is also making a return from injury for Geelong.
Those who still have him, George Horlin-Smith has been omitted.

5:40pm Thursday 18/05/2017

Weird part bye week that isn’t a Fantasy bye, with neither Port nor Suns playing this week but its top 22 as per usual, so make sure you bench or trade those Port and Suns players.
Reports are that Adam Treloar (Mid $641,000) will return from injury. Also it looks like Mitch Wallis (Mid/Fwd $482,000) will play, yet another Fantasy relevant fwd/Mid from the dogs. We also know Toby Greene (Fwd $510,000) will be back from report, as will Koby Stevens (Mid/Fwd $530,000).
Unfortunately popular rookie Harley Balic (Mid/Fwd $250,000 ) is on indefinite leave and another popular rookie Dan Butler (Fwd $291,000) will miss due to a groin injury. And we all know Rocky is out :(.

Shags’ Watchlist

scooter
Scooter Scott Selwood (Mid $380,000) has in the past at the Eagles been Fantasy relevant. Back in 2013 he averaged 107 for the season. Due mostly to injury he hasnt been able to reach thse levels at the Cats. He may never reach those levels again, but the potential is there, and hes a bargain if he gets even close. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

Shags’ Watchlist

stevens
Its always interesting to see how new recruits go at their new clubs, and former Bulldog Koby Stevens (Mid/Fwd $530,000) has gone bang with his first to games at the Saints scoring 106 and 107. Would have been on my watchlist last week if not for his 1 week report. Hes playing a very Fantasy relevant role in the midfield, and with news of Armitage being out longer hes likely going to play mid again.

soldo
Ivan Soldo (Ruck $172,000) is a ruck rookie. He’s getting a game. If that isn’t reason enough to trade him in, it appears he is getting a game even though Nankervis is playing. If this works out, they may even keep playing him. Be wary if you are a Nankervis owner.

grundy
With Mason Cox playing Brodie Grundy (Ruck $579,000) averages 87. Without Cox playing he averages 115. Cox currently isnt playing, and Grundy has lost a bit of value since Cox recently played 3 games…So yeah, now is a good time to grab Grundy.
Catch is, Buckley could easily play Cox again…

simmo
Overshadowed this year a bit by teammate Docherty, Fantasy stalwart Kade Simpson (Def/Mid $602,000) has thrown up yet again another fine season with only 1 hiccup in round 2 of 53, his ceiling is 161! Looking a definite top 6 defender this year yet again.

  • Hey shags, any idea on if/when balic is likely to come back? One of the few rooks who could make some money and score some points-hope he’s alright one way or the other!

  • Reading the paper today here in the West there is reports that he is unlikely to play again for 2017. No-one really knows what the issue is though. Gotta trade I say

  • Hurry hurry cant wait any longer

  • Who to field out of Barrett, Lloyd & Myers? Cheers.

    • myers is on dons extended bench so still could get culled

    • I’d field Myers, has averaged high 70s and low 80s in previous seasons, and seems to be warming up nicely. I read that his 63 was from 64% game time? correct me if wrong

  • time for butler to go but who to bring in
    d.lloyd or h.greenwood
    decisions decisions

  • otten or parsons of the field?

  • DEF: Docherty, Laird, Marchbank, Otten, Hampton, Williamson (Stewart, Vickers-Willis)
MID: Rockliff, Mitchell, Adams, Dangerfield, Neale, Parker, Miller, Balic (Pickett, Mountford)
    RUCK: Martin, Grundy (Preuss, Cameron)
FWD: Dahlhaus, Steele, Heeney, Nankervis, Hoskin-Elliot, Butler (Black, Polson)

I’ve got 176k in the bank and i’m stuffed, going to take at least 1 doughnut. I’ve got Rockliff, Miller, Balic, and Butler just on the field that I have to get rid of. Do I trade Rockliff and Miller to Merrett and Yeo or do I hold Miller and trade Rockliff and Balic to Merrett and Myers/Lloyd. Not sure what to do, thoughts? Cheers.

  • I have all my rooks on my bench playing (except for rucks), do I consider downgrading balic and upgrading fyfe ? or just double downgrade e.g balic and hampton?

    • I prefer to make up the points of underperforming premiums by going with the traditional downgrade/upgrade strategy. When Fyfe returns to form it will be like gaining a premium without using a trade. In the meantime your still improving the side around him which makes up points he is losing you.

Stay strong with your premos IMO

      • What if it meant upgrading Fyfe to merret ?

        • Hmm wouldn’t blame you for making an exception with Merrett, he is a must have. If you think it will be tough to get him any other way, I think it’s a decent move

    • How in the world…? I have one (Stewart) and the rest of them are above 25% ownership

  • Shai Bolton or Greenwood?

  • Field Muntimer or Stewart

  • Greenwood (vs lions!), Myers, or Perryman

Greenwood and Myers mean Zac fisher on field

    Perryman means Hampton on field

    Thoughts?

  • lloyd or Myers?

  • Lloyd or Greenwood?

    • Lloyd, has already played and did ok, 17 possessions + 1 goal. See how Greenwood goes then get him in next week if he plays well

  • Start Whinge.

Do you think Weideman will play for dees?

Dropping GHS when you’ve got parsons in the team seems
fair sh#t, that guy is allergic to the ball.

Plus O’connor was fair ordinary (1st game I know)

Still No Black, Butler Inj, Balic off the deep end (all guys I thought would play)

    Im looking at 2/3 donuts.

None of my bench is playing. except otten who is land locked.

Bloody Pickett, Miles & Macredie none of them even made emergency.

    End Whinge.

    • You need to start sorting that bench for when the bye rounds come round, otherwise you could be looking at a fair few donuts

  • which 2 to play out of greenwood, barrett, myers and lloyd?

    • Myers and Barrett, Lloyd only one game and Greenwood debuting, need to see more of them before relying on them playing on your field IMO

  • What do people think about these trades!
    Rocky-Kelly and balic-Lloyd??

  • Butler to Steele
    Or
Butler to D.Lloyd with 360k in the kitty?

  • Miller to Heeney
    and
    Rocky to Shuey vs JPK?

  • likelihood of myers missing??

  • Is it time to get rid of WHE? Or give him another week?

  • anyone waiting on these new rookies until next week? (greenwood) much more to fix first?

    • Yeah I can’t jump on this week with other forced trades. Get lloyd if you dont have him. Maybe give greenwood a week.

      • yeh thats what i was thinking, are you keepin black? do u reakon he’ll get a game soon again in the near future?

        • I’m keeping black this week because I have to. Got rocky and miller to deal with. Also got balic. If he isnt named next week, i’ll trade to greenwood/d.lloyd. I’m not sure if he’ll play soon. If he kicks a bag in the seconds and geelong continue to have scoring struggles he might come in.

  • Butler or Black to go first?

  • Which option?

    Rocky – Merrett
    Balic – Lloyd

    Rocky – JPK
    Ghs – anyone under 600k

    Rocky – JPK
    Black – Heeney

Should I leave ghs in hopes he’s back in a week or two (good for byes)?

  • Agreed, plus Black has a break even of 0, so if he comes back he has money to make

Cheers..

    • if you’re taking a 0 no matter what you can either fix up your team as you’ll suffer anyway so guys like pickett/mountford/polson especially need to go and with byes coming. Or you can to try to maximise your points this round. You have too many non playing players in your team. You need to trade at least one of those duds id say. Touk is interesting as he’ll be back next week and you may as well keep him. If I were you I might just take the hit this round and fix your rookies.

  • Who would you upgrade to hannas?
    Watson or I Smith?

    • neither because you surely have bigger issues but if I had to watson

      • Exactly, Watson just came off a rest and a hundred, Isaac Smith will be fine he will average 90-95.

Remember Hanners was averaging low 90s himself not long ago

  • I have Kreuzer and Stefan Martin in my Ruck. Should I put Darcy Cameron in My forward line and get soldo in so that he can play for me in the byes. Or is his JS bad

    • Well I think everyone is pretty shocked Soldo got a second game, so yeah his job security seems questionable

  • I’d say Myers will play
Can’t see craig bird, Jackson Merrett or tom Bellchambers coming in

Essendon certainly won’t play two big men

  • Took Miller and Dan Houston to:

    1) Isaac Heeney and Daniel Lloyd and 150k

    Or

    2) Docherty (Otten dpp) and Greenwood and 5k

  • JPK v Heeney and 30k??

  • Which trades peeps
    1. Rocky to Merrit Baltic to took.
2 rocky and Balic to Goldstein and heeney

I don’t have titch or Merritt

    Cheers

  • field otten or hampton??

  • Who to field between Myers, Barrett and Berry?

    • myers is slowly kicking into gear, ud think brisbane would get spanked so the lions boys could be in for a long day

  • kelly or hanners in for rocky ?

  • Williamson or T.Stewart on the field?

  • Hi guys,

I want to get in Merrett but that means I have to pick up O’Connor from the Cats to avoid a donut (wont play him though- swing Otten forward)

    Or
Rocky and Pickett to JPK and Walters

  • Horlin-Smith dropped again, seems to be a part of his life. Thought there were other who could have gone before him, but Scott is not a very good coach. In fact, Scott is the reason why the cats won’t win another premiership any time soon.

  • Best Mid to bring in below $500k?
    1. Cunnington
    2. Shiels
    3. Watson
    4. Zaharakis
    5. Masten
    6. Douglas

Keeping Bye rounds in mind, which option? Cheers.

    • Probably none. Better to go with Heeney, Walters. Or just forget it and go for a rookie. A rookie scoring 60s and saving you up to 300k (with appreciation) is better than a 80 scorer who doesn’t change in value.

    • Don’t like any of them. Maybe Cunnington because of his convenient bye week and he’ll spend the most time in the guts out of everyone else.

  • kelly or hanners in for rocky
