AFL Teams 2016: Round 19

No Late changes Cats vs Dogs, Lockout @7:50pm!

5:30pm Friday 29/07/2016

Sunday extended bench selections are out! Jordan Foote (Mid) didnt make the cut for the swans, and neither did Trent McKenzie (Def) for the suns. Sam Michael (Ruck) is confirmed in for the dons, and Darcy Tucker (Def) back in for Freo.

6:30pm Thursday 28/07/2016

Teamsheets are out! Some big news with Matt Boyd out with an achilles injury, and Stef Martin being rested, and James Kelly is rested for the dons. We already knew about Matthew Suckling already out with an achilles injury and Mitch Wallis out with that horrific leg break. The odd few rookie outs as well with Jason Castagna, Rueben William, Connor Blakely. Luke Dahlhaus is back for the dogs, and many will be watching in interest as he has been a great DT performer in the past and hes back in an undermanned dogs lineup. Bachar Houli is back from a long break due to injury, he was a popular def choice at start of year, and with not many choices out there people may consider to finish out their defence lines or replace players like boyd.
A few late season rookies getting a run with Adam Marcon (Mid. $125,000 AF $105,800 DT), Rupert Wills (Mid. $125,000 AF $121,300 DT), Archie Smith (Ruck. $125,000 AF $121,300 DT), Sam Skinner (Def/Fwd. $136,000 AF $121,300 DT), Simon Tunbridge (Fwd. $137,000 AF $157,700 DT), Zaine Cordy (Def $125,000 AF $128,200 DT), Michael Close (Fwd $125,000 AF $128,200 DT), mostly teams that wont be seeing September action.

Shags’ Watchlist

daul
Luke Dahlhaus (Mid/Fwd $482,000 be 148 $ 506,900 be 189 DT) hasnt played since round 12 and has a huge BE due to an injury affected 32, so this week is not the best to grab, but we will be watching to see how his form is coming into a depleted dogs lineup, he could get more midfield time and rack up the points.

Shags’ Watchlist

marcon
Its reaching the time of year that some may not care too much about JS, and are simply looking for a cheap player simply to maximise the cash and best team on field to cement a place in league finals. Tigers are playing their rookies and Adam Marcon (Mid $125,000 AF $105,800 DT) is as much chance to hold a spot as any in the tigers lineup, and he is cheap.

x
Veteran Hawk player with DT pedigree, super cheap, Brendan Whitecross (Def/Fwd $260,000 be 17 AF $260,900 be 1 DT) has struggled to get a spot in the hawks starting lineup this year. Hes now had two games in a row and scored an impressive 89. If he can hold his spot he has the potential to patch a hole in many a backline whilst allowing some cash to be spent elsewhere.

wills
Pies are another team that cant make the finals so are giving some rookies a run. Super cheap Rupert Wills (Mid $125,000 AF $121,300 DT) is getting a run for the pies, and if he plays well could keep a spot for remainder of year.

Shags’ Watchlist

skinner
Brissy seem to have a never ended number of new rookies, with not one but two making their debut this week. Archie Smith will likely only get a game for one week replacing Stef Martine, the other Sam Skinner (Fwd/Def $136,000 AF $121,300 DT) has the very handy fwd/def status.

waite
Anyone looking for a hail mary this week? Jarrad Waite (Fwd $371,000 AF be 107 $ 371,900 be 109) form at the start of the year is one of the reasons North were going so well, and his absence is one of the reasons they havent been going well recently. He is the sort of player who could kick a bagfull, can he do so against port? Need a player to take a punt on for one week just to make league finals? He probably will score 30 but thats the punt.

touk
The Suns midfield is decimated, and someone has to play in the guts. That player is Touk Miller (Fwd/Mid $405,000 AF be 36 $448,600 be 67 DT) 3 round average of 110, he has been relishing the opportunity. Hes cheap and worth a punt, especially if it allows you a double “upgrade” this week.

naismith
Sam Naismith (Fwd/ruck $202,000 be -21 AF $191,900 be -49 DT) hasnt done much wrong for swans, with two respectable scores of 73 and 88. Comes a bit pricey now for a rookie, however if your ruck bench is shot and you need cover for Stef Martin this week, look no further.

sloane
Not ideal for BE or even price and his form has been slightly down, but you trade Rory Sloane (Mid $570,000 be 146 AF $ 595,400 be 166 DT) in this week solely for the 1 week potential against the bombers.

A windy cold day in 2015, I was bored, sick with the flu, and decided to start a blog about Teamsheets. I was immediately recruited by Warnie and somehow am now a DTTALK author. NOTE; Im Back in 2022! woooo Twitter @shagbags2023 ~REMEMBER: Friends don't let friends DT TEAMS become ghost ships.
