AFL Teams 2016: Round 16

No Late changes Cats and Swans. Good luck!

5:30pm Friday 08/07/2016

Sunday extended bench selections have been made. Nothing drastic DT wise, Sam Michael (Ruck) and Aaron Francis (Def/Mid) get a run for the bombers, and Paul Seedmans (Def) didnt make the cut.

6:30pm Thursday 07/07/2016

Full weekend teams are in. Unfortunately unlike the press was indicating, Michael Barlow (Mid/Fwd) isn’t an inclusion, and neither is Daniel Wells (Mid/Fwd). Dayne Zorko (Mid/Fwd) is back after becoming a dad. A few rookies out starting with popular rookie choice Tom Phillips (Mid/Fwd), as well as Ben Keays (Omitted), Nathan Broad (Omitted), Marcus Adams (Foot), Mason Cox (Managed). Some grabbed Toby Nankervis (Ruck) as cover over the byes, who is out, but silver lining Rookie priced Sam Naismith (Ruck/Fwd $125,000 AF $128,200 DT) is given a chance. Oleg Markov (Fwd. $160,000 AF $121,300 DT) also debuts for the tigers, and rookie options Jason Castagna (Def. $143,000 AF $121,300 DT) and Liam McBean (Fwd. $132,000 AF $182,600 DT) return.
As well as Naismith keep an eye on Sam Michael (Ruck $140,000 AF $128,200 DT) who almost certainly rucks for bombers with Leuenberger out injured and Jamar suspended.

6:00pm Thursday 07/07/2016

Rest of weekend teamsheets will be named soon ~6:15pm. Yet another Lions rookie to make a debut with Reuben William (Def $125,000 AF $105,800 DT). Taylor Adams (Mid) is set to bolster the pies midfield this week. There is doubt that Daniel Wells (Mid/Fwd) will be included in the Norths lineup.
In other news Scott Selwood (Mid) is set to debut for cats…in the VFL. He could be an interesting midprice downgrade option. Watch this space.

6:30pm Wednesday 06/07/2016

Byes are finally over and we are back to normal strategy, but we have yet another partial lockout with Power vs Hawks this Thursday night. Make sure you have any Hawks or Power trades sorted if required, and have your VC loophole lined up. The main news during the week is David Zaharakis has accepted a one week ban, and Michael Barlow is in line to make a shock early return. We all should be aware Ciaran Byrne (Def) is out with a serious knee injury, as is Matt Rosa.
Only one change for hawks, Rioli in for Howe. DT relevancy? None really.

He was on my watchlist for his debut last week to watch for a week, getting a solid 76 and looking right at home in the blues squad, Jack Silvagni (Fwd. $146,000 AF $121,300 DT) looks the best downgrade option we have had in awhile.

gaff
As cheap fallen premiums go Andrew Gaff (Mid. $428,000 be 60 AF $439,300 be 38) is very cheap, and coming off a 131 shows the scoring potential he has. He is cheap for a reason with injury affected scores, but some may take the punt he is back to full fitness especially coming off a bye rest.

Sm
We are blessed with not one but two valid ruck rookie options this week. I prefer Naismith, but with Berger injury and Jamar report, big Sam Michael (Ruck $140,000 AF $128,200 DT) gets a run along with Shaun McKernan. Job Security is super shaky, but if you want to simply cull a cox or currie on your bench, you can hide him at ruck 4.

nank
With popular ruck bench rookies not getting a game (And Frost still scoring 20-30) it could be time to cull them with a couple of super cheap ruck rookies getting a chance this week.
Sam Naismith (Ruck/Fwd $125,000 AF $128,200 DT) is a familiar name for many had him on their bench much of next year. With Tippett out for season, they are giving him a run instead of Toby Nankervis. He is getting a game as main ruck. Enough for a ruck rookie.

Dsith
Devon Smith (Fwd/Mid $407,000 be 114 AF $430,800 DT be 122 ) had a very poor injury affected start to the season, and as such his price is very low. A player that always looked like he would be a break out but never quite, it will be interesting to see if he has gotten over his injury. At the very least he may be a leapfrog option to an uber premo fwd. A risk/reward trade strategy.

Rue
Debuts are rare this time of the season, and Rueben William (Def $125,000 AF $105,800 DT) was himself surprised to be named this week. A medium sized defender the South Sudanese defender has impressed at NEAFL level. Job Security is an issue, so I’d watch 1 week to see his performance and if he named again next week.

oleg
Dimma said he would rely on the rookies, and he has a new debutante in Oleg Markov (Fwd. $160,000 AF $121,300 DT) who was born in Belarus. Son of a pole vaulter he apparently has great athletic ability and the potential to be another Blicavs type player. Just like most new debuts, watch and see if he can earn a spot in the team.

neale
Lachie Neale (Mid. $536,000 be 129, $539,700 be 93) has had a couple of off weeks with a 52 and more recently an 87, which means, you guessed it, he is a fallen premium and has lost a bit of value. Seeing as he is averaging 108.1 for the season, he could be a good buy in this week. His BE is a bit high in AF and you may want to wait 1 more week.

sitch
I have been eyeing off getting Sam Mitchell (Mid. $475,000 AF be 67, $498,800 be 65) all week. The veteran mid has a very tasty price and low BE and a 3 round average of 109.7 which is enough for me to think he is back. On top of that, the cherry on top is giving a VC cpatain loophole option. He has had some low scores so there is risk, but hawks run home is pretty good.

A windy cold day in 2015, I was bored, sick with the flu, and decided to start a blog about Teamsheets. I was immediately recruited by Warnie and somehow am now a DTTALK author. NOTE; Im Back in 2022! woooo Twitter @shagbags2023 ~REMEMBER: Friends don't let friends DT TEAMS become ghost ships.
