  • watch out for my boy Kav!

  • Hmm… No Koby Stevens, that’s a bit interesting…

  • Very interesting… Haven’t heard anything about an injury or anything?

  • No jake stringer?? Thought he had a fairly high job security

  • And no Joe daniher?

  • No Luke Ball?

    • Don’t you mean to say “No Ruke Baru”?

    • “Luke Ball, who also sustained a ruptured ACL last season, won’t play on Friday night but is expected to be available for the later rounds of the pre-season competition.”

  • Lots missing. Hrovat the main disappointment for me. But also Stringer, Ball and Jobe Watson. Plus, just from what I can see, there’s no Koby Stevens, Grundy, Ben Kennedy, Daisy, Daniher, Zaharakis or Howlett.

    Hmmm

    • Grundy is still struggling with a back injury, plus needs to work on his fitness and core strength before being named for selection.

  • I know there’s a few players missing that we’d all like to see, but calm down, just because they’re not named this week doesn’t mean they aren’t fit enough or aren’t in their team’s best 22. Why would you risk someone who was in your Best 22, or a high draft pick in the first round of the NAB Cup in a Round-Robin game that nobody cares about. Okay, I know we’re all exited because FOOTY’S BACK, but remember, any decision made with one week of data is flawed. If you decide to drop a player based on them not being named, it could come back to bite you.

    • Even more so with this week as missing will essentially give you two weeks break before your next game. Not playing and getting an extra week may be whatever those players need. Specially someone like mundy who’s tweaked his ankle…

      • Totally agree, with your best 22 players. Have no issue with them missing. No problem. But not playing your young recruits or fringe players makes little sense to me if they are 100% fit. See how they perform, give them every opportunity.

  • No Vardy either? Is Geelong bringing a ruckman?
West Coast without Nic Nat and Cox, Geelong doesn’t seem to have an established ruck either, think ill be ignoring Sandilands score….

  • 2 spots left for league #145535.

  • No terlich??

  • still there’s enough young rook’s that will be getting a run and as said it’s only week one no point putting a pencil thru names until the end of the NAB cup

  • No Walker, Thompson, Dangerfield, Rutten. Sloane. Jacobs, Porplyzia, van Berlo and Reilly…and Sanderson expects them to win both games…wow wee.

  • Lets be honest. With the way the trades work this year (2 a week) everyone will be picking the rooks that start Week 1. On paper even a rookie who starts week 2 can be traded in after the the first price rise of the rookie who started week 1.

Gone are the days when you had to have balls to pick a gun rookie who did not start R1 (Zorko – 2012 anyone?).
