Golden Stubby – Round 22

Voting is now open for the DT TALK Golden Stubby for Round 22. This coveted prize will be awarded to the player who excelled on the weekend, taking into account price, form, opponent and whatever else tickles your fancy!

This weeks nominations (collected by @WarnieDT through Twitter) are:

  • Andrew Swallow (140). About time I hear some of you say! Swallow is here thanks to his 30 possession and 13 tackle performance. He has had a few big scores and with his low ownership, he was a ripper for those with him in preliminary finals!
  • Toby Greene (109). If this guy can’t win the Rising Star, then we can get him up in the Golden Stubby. He has racked up countless touches and has really been the best midfielder to keep all year. Some massively important games over the last few weeks gets him the nomination. Champion!
  • Trent Cotchin  (145). What a champion The Cotch is?! He will win a Brownlow Medal for sure. He was a good inclusion for the rested Selwood and has been a great pick up for those who took the punt with him.
  • Dustin Martin (119). A huge debate that went all over the net… who do I play as my 7th forward. This was VERY interesting and a lot of coaches benched Martin (I’ll put my hand up) but for those who left him on, he repaid the faith on Friday night.
  • Ryan O’Keefe (142). 30 touches, 12 tackles and two goals was a brilliant return from the semi-unique MID/FWD. He has been one of the better trade ins over the latter part of the season.
Honorable Mentions: Aaron SandilandsCorey Enright, Taylor Walker, Adam Treloar, Matthew Boyd, Paul Duffield, Dayne Beams, Scott Pendlebury, Jack Redden, Nick Naitanui… and a whole heap more!

  • ROK all the way for mine, he has been absolutely brilliant since i picked him up for under 400k. MVP in my team and best trade this year for sure.

  • THE COTCHINATOR !!!!

Finals MVP with scores of 152,101 and 145

  • There must be a lot of spuds on twitter if Swallow gets a nomination…

Dusty for me. Backed him over Zorko and Treloar. While it was only a 6 point difference between him and the Zorko still rapt it paid off.

  • Dusty all the way! 119 beautiful points scored at the perfect time.

  • Hmmm Dusty should be mid/fwd next year again? Should be a lock and average 90+

  • Dusty Martin, benched before lockout for perfmorming in an ordinary manner……….Pav rests………..Sub in Martin is activated………119 reasons to being a happy Grandfinalist x 4

  • Pendles finally paid me back after trading him for Ablett months ago.

    Pendles for me.

  • Martin for me. I benched him because he was pissing me off, but I ended up having to play him because of Selwood’s ‘General’.

    • Didnt get Toby Greene at the start of the year but he is a gun and could be in my team next year as a unique.

  • I owe rok and goodes a beer :)

together won me x4 league matches…..

    can’t argue with that!

  • Dusty Martin, benched him and was praying all weekend that Pav would be out so I could use his handy 119. Pretty much got me over the line in the end.

  • Good and bad news for the jossling for finals.

Bad news is final 8 is set in stone, so no desperate lunges to make the 8. St kilda, bombers, carlton could be flat or rest stars with long term or 50/50 niggling injuries. Most non finals teams would want to finish the season with a win.

Good news is there is important games in the 8 for teams wanting top 4 or home ground advantage.

Hawks: should finish top two, but can finish third. Good news is they play friday so should go for it.
    Resting Risk: Moderate

West Coast: Will need a win to guarantee top 4.
    Resting risk: low.

Collingwood: Need a win to finish in top 4, but only if west coast loses.
Should want a good win going into finals. If west coast wins 5th or 6th is a muchness of a muchness.
Resting risk: wc lose low/wc win moderate

North Melbourne: play gws, pencil in a win. At best could finish 6th but tricky percentage. Concern is gws wont need all their stars to win. North dont have a history of resting.
    Resting r

  • Corey Enright…. that is all

  • Tex Walker is pretty bloody stiff not to get the nod here. Outscored all of the nominated players, and single handedly got me into three grannies next week.

Tex Walker and the wild animal growing on the back of his head get my vote.

  • None of them. Only have Martin but my opponent in one of my prelims had Pavlich with Martin as the Reserve and that 119 cost me the win.

  • If dusty wins the golden stubby, you should rename it to the “turd rolled in glitter”, cause that’s what he has been all year round til last week. He’s been pretty damn average, cost a bundle and under performed. Whereas Greene has been, and continues to be a genuine ball magnet all year long, and was cheap as chips at the start of the season.

  • Would you believe I have 2 of those nominated…Swallow and Martin….had both sitting on the pine…and still won my cash final! First bit of luck I’ve had all year in DreamTeam..

  • ROK averaging 115 2nd half of the year. Best pick up this year.
