Calvin's Captains

Calvin’s Captains – Rd. 12

Righteo captain hunters. This week have a Loop de Loop Hole… and I’ve explained it in full within the greatest article in the world. But if you’re VC doesn’t preform, then I also have a few other lads you might be interested in. Get in there.

Wow – can things get any worse? Well… lets hope not. This week it won’t be easy with all the big names mssing from Collingwood and Geelong, but to make life easier, we have a Loop Hole. Now, every week we have a Loop Hole people (morons) get confused. Read it carefully and it will all make perfect sense.

On Thursday night (Carlton Vs West Coast) we can have a crack at the Loop Hole. Simply… put your VC on someone like Cox, Robinson etc and if you like their score, place your ‘C’ on a player NOT playing (Swan). Very easy this week due to the bye rounds.  This will score you a 0 and the score from the VC is doubled and stays. Make sure you have also selected an Emergency in this position so their score replaces the 0 as well.  If you don’t like the score from Cox, Robbo then place your ‘C’ on another one of your superstars as you normally would. Easy hey! Check out some of these Loop Hole options for Thursday night’s game.

COMMON QUESTION: “Will players who have the ‘bye’ be locked out after Thursday night?”

Great question and the answer is ‘no’.  You will still have the option of trading and moving these guys as you see fit up until the proper lock-out on Friday night. Even making one of them your captain if you wish.

COMMON QUESTION: “Will my selected emergency replace my captain’s zero, and will their score then be doubled?”

Yes and no. Yes, your emergency will replace your captains score and…  NO your VC score will then be doubled. Otherwise, what’s the point of naming a VC at all.

Loop Hole Vice Captains

Dean Cox – Big Coxy had 120 and 87 on Carlton last year and he been in pretty good form over the last 5 games this year averaging 110. He averages 106 at Paterson’s Playground in his last 3 and might pump out a good one.

Mitch Robinson – Had an impressive 126 (27d) when he played the Eagles last year. His form has been shakey though with 70 and 84 coming in the last few weeks. Robbo has played 11 games this year and has pumped out some big scores you’d keep as a VC score (146, 123, 127). The weather in WA is apparently going to be pretty poor which might open Robbo up for a 10+ tackle game.

Matthew Priddis – My old mate Priddy had 110 and 111 on the Blues last year and has scores of 113 and 108 in his last 2. This guy can lay a tackle and find the pill. But you’ll need a 120+ from him, as this is my cut off point for keeping my VC score.

Pick Me!

Dear DT World

Hi there, my name is Matthew Boyd, I’m pictured over there on the right and this week I want you to pick me. In the last few weeks, Calvin (bless his heart) has been let down by some of the great players in the league… but I’m here for you this week. Did you know… last year I played Port twice for scores of 123 (39d) and 133. Now I’m not one to brag but I am also going for my 7th straight 100+ score on them this week and I’m doing it at my favourite ground – Etihad Stadium. Man I love that place, did you know it has a roof?  I’ve averaged 126 there from 5 games this year and have had 111 and 162 in my last 2 games. I know the form of my team has been shit, but I’ve still averaged 115 in my last 3 this year and I will not let you down like that Greg Ablott did last week. Trust me!

Regards,

Matthew ‘Boom Boom’ Boyd

Ablett… 186 then 61… WTF?

Exactly! WTF is that! Argg. This made me sooo mad, but at the end of the day, many people were feeling this pain and as I said last week, he’s a safe bet cause everyone would have gone him so don’t  stress too much. Either way, we must look at his numbers this week with an open mind.

Gazza had 146 in his last game against the Roos last year and has averaged 126 on them in his last 6 games. Very good numbers. Now, he will get tagged this week from Greenwood and if not it will be Bastinac or Cunnington. Last time the Roos played, they were thumped by 110+ by the Hawks but only 4 Hawks managed to crack the 100+ mark (Buddy did have that 204 though). So, even though the Hawks smashed them, they didn’t have many 100+ scorers.  I still think Gazza will bounce back with a good score like the champion he is. But, I’m not sure what the hell he was trying to prove last week and it did us no favours whatsoever. Very bizarre and very random.

My Other Seamen

Scottie Thompson – Might get the CJT but did have 121 and 103 on the Saints last year. Has had 65 and 84 in his last 2 though and is averaging 120 at AAMI in his last 3.
Sam Mitchell – Impressive numbers here with a lowest score of 105 in his last 3 against the Lions with 6×100+ scores on them in his last 7. Lions are his 2nd favourite team to play behind the Suns, but the tag of Raines is a concern.
Brett Deledio – Only plays the GWS but had his worst score of 2012 last week with a dirty 78. I think he will be good, but I’d be picking guys above him on my list this week.
Tom Rockliff – Averages a massive 123 at the MCG over the last 5 years but his form has been horrible with just 1 score over 90 in his last 5.
Lance Franklin – Buddy had 109 on the Lions last year and has been in great form averaging 133 in his last 3 this year. He has 3×100+ scores on the Lions in his last 4 games and should be good at the MCG where his lowest score is just 94 in his last 4 outings there this year.
