Dream Team Stock Market – R5

It’s back! Bigger and better than ever. The #DTSM (Dream Team Stock Market), is your one stop shop, for pretty much, well, everything! Dream Team might have the Assistant Coach (for $19.95), but the Assistant Coach doesn’t have me (free of course) or twitter (also free) or have a crystal ball (umm, working on that part).

For those of you new to the Dream Team Stock Market, quite simply, it’s the bees neez when it comes to working out and deciding how to make money for your dream team and speed up the process in which you raise your salary cap to create the competitions ultimate side! Remember, at the start of the year, players (besides LTI’s, rookies or players returning from Ireland) are valued at how they performed last season. You spend the money, you are banking on that player to perform to that value. The more money you have to spend, the more money you have to spend on players that are performing! That’s why it is so important to know when to jump off a player that has peaked and jump on someone at a lower than valued price.

Firstly apologies to those that sat down on Thursday morning with there beloved bowl of cornflakes in readiness to read this weeks DTSM. I’ve decided to release and finalise the Dream Team Stock Market on a Friday. It gives me a bit extra time after the teams are announced on a Thursday night just to make sure the information I provide is as relevant as possible for the upcoming round ahead. I am also tweaking my weekly article each week till I find the right mix. Once rookies are ready to cash out, things will be in full swing.

Also a quick shout out to Dane Swan. Thank you for making my ANZAC Day one of the greatest I remember. I had you as Vice Captain, I shouldn’t have doubted you and should have given you the big “C” before the bounce. My apologies *rubs belly*. What a legend.

Here we go…

MONEY MAKERS – TOP 5

1. James McDonald (MID) $98,700 ($0) B/E: -117 AVG: 91 LAST 2: 98, 84

“Old MacDonald had a farm, Ee i ee i oh!And on that farm he had some cows, Ee i ee i oh! With a moo-moo here, And a moo-moo there. Here a moo, there a moo, Everywhere a moo-ooo…Old MacDonald had a farm, Ee i ee i oh!” In this case, James is the cow, and the farm is your DT. If your farm doesn’t have McDonald, it’s a pretty shit farm. Moo.

Weekly Stock Market Prediction: ↑$85,000

DTSM Value: $418,000

2. Adam Treloar (MID/FWD) $104,200 ($0) B/E: -83 AVG: 75.5 LAST 2: 66, 85

Another one of the GWS cows running around. Will more than likely be a very highly traded in downgrade this week. His scores and productivity are both increasing at the same rate (fancy that?). You just have to decide if his J.S is long or short and whom to trade him in for? Dickson? Milera? Couch? Jack Riewoldt? (sorry Jack).

Weekly Stock Market Prediction: ↑$65,000

DTSM Value: $345,000

3. Josh Drummond (DEF) $289,400 ($0) B/E: -11 AVG: 100 LAST 2: 95, 100

Be very very quiet. Do not tell Josh that his name is on a “buy” list. That might tear his hamstring. Feels like he is moments away from a Final Destination type of injury but also moments away from being top 5 half-back in the competition. You would be brave to bring him into your side, but fortune favours that sort of thing, right?

Weekly Stock Market Prediction: ↑$45,000

DTSM Value: $460,000

4. Thomas Bugg (DEF) $216,900 (↑$112,700) B/E: -17 AVG: 78.2 LAST 3: 53, 93, 66

Yep, the Bugg is still on the list for one last time. At a touch over $200k, he is still a valuable inclusion. The only player whom has played over 3 games still on the list. Reasoning? There aren’t many cheap backline options, especially now. Plus he is playing a good DT brand of football and has the ability to score highly, helping him cash up or maybe, be a keeper.

Weekly Stock Market Prediction: ↑$40,000

DTSM Value: $365,000

5. Jack Ziebell (MID) $384,900 ($0) B/E: 26 AVG: 113 LAST 2: 139, 87

“Z” is the last letter in the alphabet. Ziebell is the last on my last. Coincidence? I have no idea where I am going with this joke… Jack is averaging 113 in his 2 games so far and is up against the Gablettless Suns. The Kangaroos could probably have the ball the entire game. Ziebell could very well be the next player to have a break out year. Especially that Swallow, Bastinac and Anthony are keeping the opposition at bay.

Weekly Stock Market Prediction: ↑$35,000

DTSM Value: $510,000

DTSM “Buy, Buy, Buy” Watchlist:

Darren Pfieffer (FWD/MID) $117,800 – 1 gamers playing this week.

Lachie Neale (MID) $98,700

Jack Crisp (MID) $85,800

Sam Shaw (DEF) $104,200

Jesse Stringer (MID) $104,200

SHOW ME THE MONEY

Rightio, we are getting awfully close to begin cashing in our rookies. This is the go-to-section of DTSM for knowing when to trade them out. This is my personal view. By no means do you have to follow it. I don’t like to stick around for 6 weeks to make another $20k. Fortune favours the brave (and smart).

1. Chad Winguard (MID) $164,400 (↑$7,200) B/E: 42 AVG: 38.2 LAST 33, 46, 20

As far as Dream Team goes and money making. 2012 isn’t the year for Chad and the boats been missed (possibly torpedoed off the coast of GetAKick island). If you do still have Chad (why?), jump off. Take the $7,200 he made you and go buy a fluro vest, place a photo of Chad at the bottom, “the best there ever was” labeled at the top, get it framed and finally, find the person who told you to keep him till Round 4 and beat the living *#&$ out of him. If that person is you… well, this is getting awkward.

Time to Cash Out: 4 weeks ago.

Trade suggestions: James McDonald, Adam Treloar, Lachie Neale, A Goat (doesn’t have to be alive either)

2. Rhys Stanley (FWD) $262,600 (↑$98,400) B/E: 32 AVG: 78.5 LAST 3: 96, 88, 52

Has shown glimpses of being a productive forward option, but just has not quite hit the ceiling we need him too. Hoping this week he has a blinder! Or he could be cashed out sooner than planned. I might be a little harsh, but he isn’t going to be a keeper and at $260k already, easy to turn into a premo!

Time to Cash Out: 2 weeks time. All dependant on this weeks game. Stay tuned.

3. Adam Kennedy (FWD/MID) $198,500 (↑$94,300) B/E: 31 AVG: 71.7 LAST 3: 72, 58, 41

My AK40. What went wrong? You murdered it in the first round, now you are butchering it. I won’t be trading you out, yet. But it must be noted your B/E of 31 is nearing danger levels. But Aki I really want to get in Treloar this week. Well, if you have huge brass balls, then by all means, pull the trigger. It’s not the worst decision you can make. I still think he still has a big game left in him. Will have to wait another week before he gets another game.

Time to Cash Out: 3 weeks time. Unless you are desperate to downgrade/upgrade.

4. Jamie Cripps (FWS) $169,400 ($5,000) B/E: 48 AVG: 36.5 LAST 3: 37, 35, 26

Your not really being shown the money… more so, changing investment plan at a small loss. There is anything really to speak of. Just hopefully he manages to break 50 this week and earn the money he has lost back.

Time to Cash Out: Next week. Hoping he hits the lofty B/E of 48 and maybe get back in the green.

5. Terry Milera (FWD) $202,200 (↑$86,400) B/E: 27 AVG: 66 LAST 3: 85, 53, 52

The 3rd Saint on the list. It’s saying something! (farked if I know what). Milera’s last 2 haven’t been earth shattering. Still a handy player as a 7th Fwd atm or Emergency. I really like the way this guy plays, his game just isn’t quite DT friendly enough yet. Bit of a dark horse.

Time to Cash Out: 2 weeks time. All dependant on this weeks game. Stay tuned.

CHANGE OF PLANS

Premium didn’t work out? Mid-Pricer lost the plot? Injury ruining your team? You will probably find those issues on this list.

1. Robbie Gray (MID/FWD) $402,000 ($0) B/E: 129 AVG: 67

31 seconds to go, Robbie tried his darnest to impersonate an ostrich. 10/10 for effort. Sadly, this task requires a full knee reco and 12 months on the sidelines for the luckless Mr. Gray. Lucky for us his value is yet to change. All the best and a speedy recovery mate.

2. Gary Rohan (FWD) $218,200 ($8,600) B/E: 86 AVG: 46.7

Just when I thought the Robbie Gray injury couldn’t be any more horrific to watch, Gary Rohan takes the cake. Snap the base of his peg, in half. That kind of injury can do a lot more than rule someone out for 12 months. I expect him to come back mid next year, stronger than ever. Get better soon bud.

3. Todd Goldstein (RUC) $382,300 ($109,300) B/E: 164 AVG: 53.2

Has been dropped to the VFL. So I was wrong, things did get worse. I doubt anyone has him still, but if you do. You know the drill.

4. Shane Mumford (RUC) $452,400 ($0) B/E: 118 AVG: 89

The mummy! The big fella didn’t take too well to being jabbed and has had an operation to remove an infection in his back. Poor guy can’t take a trick. Similar to my good mate “Ray Ray” whom I talked into trading out Mummy last week for Sandilands (whom is out this week), sorry buddy! Mumford is a nightmare, I’d be trading him out pronto.

5.  Andrew Carazzo (DEF/MID) $409,200 ($45,600) B/E: 176 AVG: 73.7

The timeframe for Carazzo is that annoying 6+ weeks. If I had him, he’d have to go. Plenty of options to go to. Whether you downgrade or sideways trade. Also, sending a player death threats because of the tackle that sidelined Carrazzo is pathetic. Wake up to yourselves. Sam Lonergan is a great guy and always a pleasure to speak to when I see him. Grow up.

TWEET-A-TRADE

A new little segment to get my followers on twitter involved. Looking at a specific player, heard rumours, need to go unique? Starting from next week, Tweet me on a Wednesday night after 8pm with the #DTSM hashtag and a player you want me to talk about and I’ll pick the best 3 to get in the #DTSM.

Had a couple of people tweet this name. At $360,700 DPP (MID/FWD) he is an interesting option, similar to Fyfe, less production. If Fyfe is going to try and tough it out all year, then I’d say no to Clancee. If Fyfe goes down again very soon, then i’d say why not. Has already gone up $55,700 in price (B/E 12). So you would really want to catch the train before it’s off. Back to back 100’s is impressive. The name Brendan Whitecross comes to mind though…

Mini Swanny. Started in the middle on ANZAC Day and looked great all day. Was easily in top 5 players for the match, alongside fellow DPP Pie, Steele Sidebottom. Beams is currently $472,100 ($30,700) and had a B/E of 130 this week and scored 121. The DT first lady grabbed him at the start and told her to persist with him. So if you are considering him, jump on him next week.

Sneaky. Seeming you placed the #DTSM hashtag in there, I’ll do both these players. Firstly Christensen. At $334,700 (↑$72,300) and a DPP (MID/FWD), he is another great prospect. Is just starting to build this year and is beginning to look the goods again. VERY good option up forward. I’d be interested to see how he goes this week first. As for Reece Conca. The only issue I have is loading up your backline with too many Richmond defenders. But he would be a great inclusion if you can cover Richmonds bye round and have Deledio.

All the best for the weekend!

@Aki_DT

  • Thoughts Please!!!!!

    Dangerfield – Mcdonald
    Ablett – Robo

    Next week

    Mccarthy – Pendles
    Porps – Chappy

    Thank you

    Great write up yet again

    • hillend- Stupid moves. Danger killing it and jesus is back next week. Therefore, by all means trade away, one less dunce who can win the car. Should call yourself bellend

    • pop on over to http://www.dtt4spastics.webs.com its perfect for you Hill End

      • I am 2509 in the DT standings – I’ll leave that web site for those who need it – thank you

      • great website! my FIRST thought was great idea trade sandi to hmac!

    • They are ballsy trades mate.

Could make or break your season.

3 mid price and 1 premium into 3 premiums and arguably the best valued rook price player this year look good on paper. The problem is the premium you are trading out is Ablett.

      Really ballsy. Best of luck!

    • I am also ditching Dangerfield. Crows have a really tough run coming up. If he couldn’t perform against GWS, he’ll struggle. Never again for me.

I would have given him another chance against Port, but I want Barlow now.

good luck, I’d stick with Ablett, but if this is the best way for you to get Pendles soon then go for it

  • Top article mate!

Who to trade Mummy out for? ATM I am looking at Kreuz, Ryder or Cox. Or HMac.
    Who to bring in?

    • Cox or HMac I would say. I have Cox at the moment, and although hsi output has been down on last year, he is playing :)

  • Awesome article!!!

Went C Smith > Treloar (activated FWD/MID DPP); Carrots > Waters (Forced due to LTI)

    DEF: B Deledio (103), B Goddard (89), B Waters (102), D Heppell (97), T Bugg (66), M Clarke (95), B Lake (0), B Ellis (79), S Darley (0)

    MID: G Ablett (97), M Boyd (84), D Swan (134), S Thompson (109), J Magner (64), J McDonald (84), A Kennedy (41), D Shiel (67)

    RUCK: A Sandilands (122), J Giles (101), J Redden (0), O Stephenson (0)

    FWD: S Sidebottom (117), L Franklin (76), T Cloke (103), D Martin (96), D Smith (62), A Goodes (0), A Treloar (85), A Hall (75), T Dickson (0)

    CASH LEFT: $188,900
    TRADES LEFT: 18

Agressive trading meant that I jumped from 25,936 to 8849 in the space of two weeks!!

What do u think of my overall team and what should I do with the 18 trades?

    • gonna have to cop a 0 for sandi, get him out

    • Very close to my team. Did Carrots > Waters before the lock out. Will be going Kerridge > Treloar as long as Pfeiffer doesn’t get a look in later today and Fyfe’s Dad sends him home early.

    • I was hoping now the my team threads were done we wouldn’t see muppets post there team that nobody cares about

  • Pfiffer is a fwd/mid is he not?

Also opinions on trading C Smith?

    • am thinking of trading out C. Smith for MacDonald.

think it might be the go as it looks as though C. Smith might have trouble making it back into the Doggies side with Liberatore getting promoted ahead of him this week.

  • Thanks for the reply mate & great article! Was thinking of bringing in Conca this week but with all my defenders playing I might wait until next week and bring in Marc Murphy/Goddard depending on who’s named and which line needs to be bolstered.

  • Does anyone think darley will get a game soon. if not who would be a good replacement. Backline is
    delidio, goddard,bugg,scotland,shaw,hargrave,ellis,morris and darley.

    $20.000 in bank

    • ive got darley as well just sitting on my bench doing nothing, if it were a couple of rounds ago id say go for clarke but that boat has sailed, i was thinking of bringing in smedts as he seems the only half decent option and is on the bubble but i dont trust the guy to play regularly/scoring ability.

i do remeber a poll awhile ago where afl players were asked who would win the rising star award and from memory everyone was on smedts.

  • im stuck in a horrible situation. with sandi out i only have giles in the rucks, redden and stephenson are my other two (both out). i have about $20,000 in hand and i dont want a zero. the only option i can think of is downgrade Golby (BE of 16) to Smedts ($104,200) and then trade Redden up to McIntosh. but then im losing out on money on golby and possibly redden. is it worth the 2 trades especially when i only have 21 left at the moment????

    • Some will say cop the donut….I say “F** Dat”…if your going to make the trade do it now with North dropping Goldy big Hamish will tonne up. Plus who knows how long Sandi is out for?? Cats prefer West over Big O and Primus…geez blokes a spud and likes even bigger spuds like Renouf.

    • sandi to hmac easy as pie with no goldstein.

      • i traded in sandi last week for mummy, im not doin that, but should i downgrade golby to smedts or shaw from adelaide?

        • if you only want one of them then smedts

          • why burn 2 trades when you can burn 1?

          • but i dont wanna keep trading premiums in and out! and if i trade golby to smedts and redden to HMac then thats like trading up to a premium, which in essence is what dream team is all about! but then again, taking a zero is the best option in my mind coz i wanted to trade golby up in like 2 weeks and it weekens my back line!

        • golby has a break even of like 11 wait 2 weeks… it cant hurt especially with so much carnage going around!

  • http://www.facebook.com/?sk=nf can you like it please

  • Ive decided im getting rid of Abblet…. dont ask why.

    Now…..

I could go another super premium but I want to make sure I can afford to get GAJ back in a couple of weeks… So therefore….

    Barlow or Hayes?

    • Ziebell. Cheaper than those 2, plays suns without Ablett and Teac this week (gonna hurt watching that as a suns supporter), plays dogs/port/lions within the next 5, and plays suns and giants again this year. Boom.

    • Honestly you can’t go badly if you trade in Barlow, Hayes or Ziebell. Just with Ziebell, I’m not quite as certain about him, but it’s certainly better than trading him for another super-premo that won’t get you any cash (probably cost you 20 points a round but you make upwards of 80k in time to get Gablett back).

  • Top work as usual Aki – Kennedy will be my first casualty for the year I think in the next few weeks.
Have to admit the disappointment was immense when I switched on the ipad yesterday and DTSM wasn’t there!

  • YES!!! I have big brass balls. Also an absolutely scathing assessment on young Wingard’s prospects. Love it. d-RAMA.

Great article bloke. Look forward to it every week. Needing a decent fwd or back to downgrade to next week to raise around 100k so I can afford Swan after his demolition job on Wednesday.

  • I am thinking an extreme strategies of getting in 2 rookies
    and losing a premium
    1. Either Redden -> Jmac
    C. Smith -> Treloar

    Other options are.

    2. Redden -> Jmac
    C.Smith -> Barlow

    3. Just Redden -> Jmac

    4. Keep Redden and do C.smith -> Jmac.

I have a strongish opponent this round (quite a few uniques who occational score high but are up and down), but then a run of weak ones where I can sit pretty and let my cash cows Rise.

The big question is really is Treloar worth it as one of the better rookies, or would there be a good rookie to get in next week instead?

Also Redden is giving me the S&%$s and is looking to have another big price drop this week.

    • option 4 is a must…. i would still keep redden… upgrade him when yours cows have flourished!

  • thought id create an account just to let you know this is by far my fav article, never miss out on it and sterling work as per usual aki!.

really didnt want to trade this week but treloar was a lock preseason and i think he is a lock now, thinking of trading him in at the expense of kennedy but it is leaving a noobish taste in my mouth.

  • Great read Aki!!!

Every week I look forward to this article! One of the favs.

  • Great work… as usual
    Murphy or Mitchell??? (for ablett)

  • GAH

  • anyone also planning to nab d. zaharakis when he drops too 360k this week? say upgrade from kennedy/cameron/hall

  • Any thoughts on Kruzier improving this year to a premuim or is 70-80 pts going to be his avg?

    • Too reliant on goal kicking imo, same as Ryder. Hold him though, you should be happy you don’t have Mumford/Sandi

  • ok need peoples opinion…
do i have a chance at the car or is it just a dream…
im sitting 7103 i believe my team is pretty solid…

i have used 5 trades so far…. and $5k in the bank

B: bugg, broughton, waters, hargrave, deledio, goodard, golby (smedts, ellis)

M: boyd, mitchell, swan (VC this week oh yeah), selwood, rockliffe, magner (greene, shiel)

    R: cox, giles (stephenson, jenkins)

F: franklin, martin, pavlich, goodes, smith, trelour (kennedy, cameron)

any opinions/advice on how im travelling is much appreciated good or bad…
im thinking of sitting on this team (barring injuries) and waiting for a few cows to blossom wat u guys reckon??

    • just a dream buddy, how can you win with just 6 forwards???

      • hahaha… i forgot about hall… i dont think he deserves a mention for being dropped or injured! ill just have to win my league!

  • So finally talked myself out of ABLETT > BARLOW then 2 CASHCOWS for ABLETT

Thats a 3 trade deal rather than 2 cashcows for BARLOW in 2-3 weeks time

But, is JMAC a 6th MID KEEPER? Tempted to do that trade for only that reason

  • The Kruze pisses me off.

Watching him play each week so far, I reckon he does have the potential to step it up, a bit, maybe 90 average. Especially if he changes his facial expression.

See the problem is, he looks like a dill, and appears to mostly run up and down the ground watching the ball from a distance. He doesn’t seem to know where to run, reckon he needs to watch footage of Cox, to have more of an impact on games via marks and disposals, not just traditional ruck-type playing style. He’s great with the hit out effectiveness, but from DT perspective, low-to-zero care factor.

I mean he can play like a ruck-rover, he does have talent, endurance, agility, etc. Again, main problem is that facial expression of a spastic low-IQ camel. So if he can look less like a dill, and more like, say, Jude Bolton (intense focus with scary eyes), then I’d happily see him in the 90s.

    • That was hilarious! I have Kreuzer and that goes through my head anytime he goes near the ball!

    • hahaha jude reminded me of a dog at its owner going “throw the ball, come on throw it…. please throw the ball”… i wish i had that much energy at 3/4 time!

    • i think its all about confidence for kruze, because while i am no model myself, his head is all over his face and its down right rude, give him a years supply of proactiv and watch him average 110+ for the season

  • Rischitelli OUT

  • who should i trade in for carrots? i only have 11000 cash and i am contemplating trading jack redden out aswell. Who should my two options be??????????

    • I’d assume Carrots fit with your bye structure, so go Go Goddard, Lids, Scotland etc etc down the line until you haven’t got one of them.

  • Darley, Kennedy or Redden the safe option for the C?

Ive got in on Darley considering he hasnt played for GWS and obviously isnt on the EMG list

  • does anyone know who is replacing Rischitelli ?

  • Interesting week to trade – likely to be my first.

Gray what to do – Up/Sideways but to who? not a lot of love in the fwds if you already have Buddy, Robinson and Sidebottom. Down to Treloar, make some cash.

Ablett to say Murphy, but how long will he be out, how do you afford to get him back?

    Kennedy, trade him to Treloar??

I think the Gray to Treloar is tempting me most, then follow that up with a Kennedy to Mitchell/Murphy trade. Well that was until Kennedy was not named, now I will be a few bucks short given price rises and decreases.

    mm what to do?

    Gray > Treloar
    Ablett > Murphy

    Gray > Waite/SJ/Chappy etc
    Ablett > Murphy

Or just on of the Gray trade or Kennedy to Treloar.

    …………….

    • Thing is DT is unpredictable, that’s the beauty of it. Trading out Ablett now comes with high risk.

Everything say’s he’ll be out 1-2 weeks so it’s a no brainer to keep him for me.

What’s likely to happen is you’ll trade in Murphy, Goddard and Delidio will go down with injury or suspensions then there goes your “I’ll just get Ablett back now” theory. You’ll be chasing your tail for 6 rounds.

If you ship Ablett out, there’s a high chance you won’t get him back.

The way this seasons going my keepers are staying keepers unless they go down with Mumford syndrome.

  • Kennedy to Treloar and keep my dpp link to the fwds or trade in old mac?

    • I had a similar problem. I think the DPP trumps it for me though.

My mate lost a game week purely because he had no link. It’s pretty important and there’s only so long you can go before you’ll need that link locked in.

In saying that you’ve got Pfffffer from Port as a potential next week.

  • Smedts to defence trade our K Hunt for Treloar

What do people think of this. Or do I go Keneddy to treloar

Or do I hang on to Kennedy

    • Hang on why would you trade out Hunt? Their most experienced midfielder if Swallow doesn’t play tomorrow, should go okay with a negative breakeven.

    • Either bring in Treloar or J Mac (Depending on whether you have him yet or not). I had the same scenario and went with J Mac as I liked his potential more and didn’t start the season with him.
