No Armstrong, Christensen spewing was hoping to see a heap of these 2 mid pricers. Good to see Lenny named
Ahmed Saad aint there either even though the afl page says he is named
Cheers warnie, any news on Saad?
How do you get time to post this stuff up if you’re a teacher?
His kids are all failing…haha
Haha. I found 10 mins while eating my toasted sanga at lunch… I need a full time DT job!
The interesting thing is he practically teaches me!! :D
Here kids, today’s lesson: if you sell 1 x Premo Mid, how many rookie rucks can you buy?
His students are all getting A+ in DT science.
Glad to see Voldt, Selwood, Goodes, Walsh, Wilkes and Smedts are named. However disappointed Enright, AC and Saad aren’t.
On a different note great to see Byrnes playing and it will be interesting to see if Hayes and Monty line up in the midfield together or play in separate games.
Monty not playing mate, just seen something on Perthnow.com.au saying that he has been “told” to rest up for Rd 1 of Nab cup.
good to see Hoags back for the cats…I havnt got him in my current squad, but see how he goes this w/e. least he’s back on top of what was keepin him down for the last few years. good on him!
shhhhh
Hogan has been a favourite of mine, I picked him in his rookie year and he did quite well with the low amount of games he played, last year he was a wreck but I am hoping he gets a great opportunity this year.
He racked up 45 possessions in the VFL 2 years ago so has plenty of talent to win the ball, just needs to get his confidence up in the seniors.
Woah woah woah… inside voices fellas
Some people in here need to shut the hell up!!!
Couldn’t agree more – oh how the mighty have fallen. For the last 5 years I reckon Jimmy was almost alway sthe first player I picked. With his DT relevance falling it looks like of the old firm ABC at Geelong is gone for DT purposes now. Obviously the late addition in the S, lives on & the A – well he is still a DT gun – just at a new home!
What this suggests to me is that the evolution of DT has well and truly occurred. We now have a whole new generation of DT relevant stars. As hard as it is to come to terms with that and changes to the mindset, it is great as it gives the game a whole new angle, creating greater excitement. Not that our great game needs it!
Whoops wrong spot – then tried to delete this and ended up duplicating. Sorry
Interesting to see that Jimmy Bartel is no longer DT relevant. Looks like I have a genuine unique mid on my hands this year. I will LOL hard when Jimmy averages 114+ again this year. :-)
You just might be right on Bartels this year, reckon he’ll tear it again like did in 2009-2010
Ha ha – three hole punch!
Dont know if anyone has noticed but for the 1st time in 2 years Bartel hasnt been wearing his elbow brace which has caused him issues.
I think Bartel is in for a big year. Elbow fully healed
doubt it
Totally, start with Montagna too and let me know your thoughts after 10 rounds.
Yeah had them both last year and wow. More frustrating than Big Sandis toe.
Set and forget. Forget about the car anyway.

No Christensen, Saad or Armstrong :(
That’s annoying but ah well
Can’t wait to see Sippos play all news about him is positive (Not really from a DT perspective though)
No Armstrong = anxiety attack lol really sitting on the fence with him.
As far as Morton goes, they have given him number 10… now I know numbers dont mean anything but USUALLY the lower numbers are given to players who are going to play some footy. Well thats one way at looking at it haha
Swanny (the ultimate DT slut) wears no.36… I think your method is slightly floored.
Jay Neagle wore #1
I dont tink his name should be mentioned again appart from being an employee at maccas.
Really wanted to see how Armstrong would go, its between him and Hargrave at the moment.
66?
Damn, Instead of giving Christensen the vest they left him out of the team!
I hope he is not injured or anything..
Horse says Armstong is unlikely for Round 1:

YAY GEORGE HORLIN SMITH IS IN RED!
sorry, just excited because he went to my school (Pembroke in SA)
So your real name is Chuck Norris-Norris then?
+1
Farken funny! (I actually cried)
very subtle that one!
Thanks Warnie!
Now, I need to say for all of us WHY THE $%#@ would a REDUCED BENCH in the pre-season be good for football?
The smaller bench is a wank and another example of how the AFL act like the dictatorship that they are.
Does anyone think the clubs or the football public want this? NO.
It’s a 40 minute match. How many rotations do you need?
bam! he has been zinged.
+1
Running with almost the same shield I have for my team! I’ve had the same shield since they introduced them. Haven’t seen anyone else with it. Good to have you on board.
I too have used the bull for a few years now. You’d think I’d take the bulldogs logo but as an eagles supporter I just can’t bring myself to do it.
I’ll be keeping a good eye on you Sammy Gilbert!
Liking the look of the squads so far. Not missing to many names on the radar. Also love how a few names I’m watching aren’t highlighted!!!
that is most likely because they are not going to be DT relevant or they just plain suck
Seriously why isn’t Kieren Jack getting any attention, also I’m laughing at people considering Mitch Morton, being a richmond fan. Anyone know things about Christian Howard btw, I like the look of him, Bulldogs are also developing their youth……
If there’s a player that isn’t red then don’t say anything…haha let the herd of sheep follow the highlighted guys. Jack is one I’m looking at, was a good scorer back in ’10 but just wondering who’s gonna get the tag role….Bird?
Benny Mc Glynn may get it too did a few run with jobs last year
there are a few potential taggers at the swans, personally i reckon jack’s talents could be put to better use, which would be good for dt, he’d be a lock in my team if he fitted my structure
why isnt ahmed saad playing i thought he is hot property atm.
also is anything wrong with Stevie J or is he just too good for the NAB cup.
another question is when do league byes take place this year?
Saad is a bit sad and he is cold at his property atm
Stevie J is not happy with the banks like all of us
League byes take place when the umpires are are waving in 3 of the rounds
or the first 2 if you see them early!
boooooo
No Tom Mitchell????
Yep he’s injured, don’t think he’ll be named round 1 either.
Jeuz i missed that one… whats wrong with him?
Id be surprised if he gets many if any games this year.
he’ll definitely get his chance through the year, they will at least want to give him some games for development
cheap midpriced back might be garryn geary, not sure on hargrave, lake or conca. geary is very cheap and i think he’s had a good pre season. anyway i think i might be the only man in the land looking at this guy! only having a peek don’t have him in my team atm!!
So what do you think of Lenny Hayes?
Lock and load Zan, he is priced at 72, he will average 105 ESP early given their games per bye.
No brainier!
yer he look good for his $$$$ ;)
I swapped Barlow to Hayes, happy with the decision, for a week atleast.lol
you going with 3 premos and hayes or 4 and hayes?
locked for me zan
Any team without Hayes from the start just isnt taking it seriously. He is an out and out champ who will give you 100+ all year, watch his 09/10 highlights reel to remember how awesome he is!
Plus, I know Joey pi$$ed a lot of ppl off last year, but with Lenny back it will take a lot of pressure off the saints mids (and I’ve seen him really stand out @ a few training sessions). I’m considering playing both from round 1, they are way underpriced.
No Campbell Heath in red, I think we could see big things from him, or so swans insiders say.
No Porplyzia is a bit worrying. Have him in my team at the moment, but is only in if he can prove himself.
Yeah, I’m not sold on him. Smells like Higgins.
another injury ALREADY… let us count how many he can obtain for the season!
My advice seriously is don’t start with Porps. He has been out the game alonggg time. Remember you have a 3 week window to right your rookie/mid price wrongs. Porps won’t fire until Rd8 and he’ll massacre with prob 30:12 shots on goal in a blistering 10 Rd’s.
Think he’s done a calf!
Sorry – net playing up – was a response to Porps???
Gave me
A chuckle seeing no port players highlighted!
Pheiffer should be interesting to watch. Needs to kill it to get elevated.
lol coudnt stop laughing
i thought that was a bit harsh – should have at least 2 or 3 players noted
yep Wingard and Pfeiffer at least. Wingard could be bloody amazing
Also Gray, Ah Chee and Jarrad Reddon could be relevant. Bit harsh.
sorry but, Robbie Gray, seriously?
He’s not a bad player, just in an average team. Set to be playing more midfield too. Not in my team but relevant for some.
Anyone having trouble getting the DT site to load?
Yeah, i cant get on either
has been sloooow all day but has let me in throughout the day
Yeah, it’s a TLS thing. Get on the app while they sort out their shit if you’re desperate, that seems to be working for me atm.
TLS being Telstra. I need to get out of the office and find me a beer.
Good to see Carlton have gone with a lot of youth really can’t wait to see Dylan Buckley play he’s got a lot of talent but is 60kg and 170 cm :)
He will get smashed. Maybe a year or two in the gym might help him
What is everyone doing with Rowey? I have him as 4th ruck but thinking moving him to forward line and picking another ruck. My rucks as Kreuzer, Giles, Orren and Rowe.
currently in my forward line providing protection for any rookie rucks but also can be used in a trade out etc.
Off topic, is there any way to find out finisihing positions from last year?
Have a look through some of the other recent articles. I believe a link is posted (maybe twice) where you can find your last years rank and position.
i asked for it and a good man named Justin provided – I have also since re-posted the link as well – just can’t remember which post headline it is under… do some searching hey.
tom curren a first game player is playing in st kildas side and replacing leigh montagna as he is resting.
I really really rate him he can play, he’s bulked up his frame to an AFL standard and has good skills. But he is rookie listed and I cant see him going ahead of Ross, Cripps, Ledger, Milera, Saad, Crocker and Newnes (similarish types) but might keep an eye out midseason if he gets a run on in the VFL.
Strange, I though Sam Rowe was injured.
Bit of a bonus that you didn’t highlight Port – all the players I was looking at are in the squad, which includes someone who is likely to get an enormous opportunity at the start of the season.
Yep, Warnie is pretending to be strategic but everyone knows Essendon are Port’s bitch ;)
Who?
Someone who’s namesake played reserves for Carlton and played for the Port maggies I’m guessing…
Could be two in round 1
Any reason luke brown from adelaides not playing?
because adelaide did not name him
ha ha just joking – not sure but would have liked to see him in action
Haha, just thought i may have missed an injury or maybe he copped more than a black eye from the fight
Had dental surgery today I think, teeth were dislodged when he was attacked outside a bar on Sunday.
http://www.afc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/4417/newsid/129262/default.aspx
rooke + bar + pre-season = pain + stupidity… get in the side kid!
Mitch Robbo not named :(
he is too badazz for nab cup
No love for Ian Callinan I see. He’s in the Rohan, Porplyzia price range and a magnet for the leather! Does anyone have any info on how his stocky little frame is holding up or do his hammy issues scare people off?
It was a torn bicep if I remember right.
Has been fine this pre season. McIntyre (mature age rookie) though, has been performing very strongly (kicked 4 in intra-club) and may overtake Callinan as the first rookie to be elevated.
Small forward stocks at Adelaide look something like this:
Porplyzia > Wright > Callinan/McIntyre
IS it worth not getting goddard and saving a bit of dosh and getting someone like a bachar houli?
No…thats all there is to it
+1
Serious? The only way that could ever work is if BJ got injured or suspended…
Definately gonna keep a eye on Beau Wilkes….the bloke is a mad dog!
Here is an article on Mr Wilkes redcan……….
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/the-saints-new-zac-is-back-20120222-1to9b.html
you must be quite the mad dog yourself noting your hard core export can logo.
+1
Im a Port supporter and I agree at the fact that there should be no highlighted players
Likewise Ross, and i’d nearly have suggested that a healthy percentage of them should even have a line drawn through them to further emphasise there lack of relevance :)
In all seriousness tho, Gray will push a 100 avg this year a AhChee will get games and could do anything.
please dont be so hard on your club ……….thats our job :-)
glad you didn’t highlight port players. there is some smoke in there that i don’t want drifting into general society……
There are some players to keep a watch on and would make for a unique choice. Risky, but reward to be had…
I was going to keep this to my self but hey, I am trying to give collingwood supporters a better name.
Everyone knows about Wingard and Pfeiffer….. but take note of the boy I will call the SNEEZE.
http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/afl/teenager-brendon-ah-chee-a-nice-surprise-for-power/story-e6frepf6-1226276408530
Personally, there will be a few more in the Crows I will be watching. Van Berlo, to see if he can keep his late season form of 2011. Rory Sloane should be a future gun, is it a breakout year for him? Taylor Walker is a future star, once he learns consistency. Can he perform for a new coach? Brodie Smith, if given the opportunity should do well in more than his DT. :-) Be interesting to see how Dangerfield plays having bulked up and playing around the mid/wing. Petrenko/McKay will be interesting, depending on position. And Tommy Lynch, would be a nice pick if he performs like he did in the intra club match.
Agreed with the Port synopsis though…..except I will keep an eye on Pfeiffer.
Having said all that, I just want footy to start already!
Tossed up b/w Sloan, Shiels, Rich and Anthony last preseason, went Shiels after the NABcup and never looked back but Sloan is definitely on the radar this year.
I hope Lynch does well for the Crows, wish he was still at the Saints.
Will be keeping a close eye on Sloan and VB at AAMI on Sunday, ALOT cheaper than Thommo and plenty of upside.
I cant really see Saad having much DT relevance this year. I may be wrong but small fwds, or tall fwds for that matter basically have to kick 5 or more goals with their 10 possies to get good scores. He’ll be a good player but not too sure there arent better options out there.
Personally, a fwd from the Saints who I would look @ is the awkwardly priced Crippa. If he nails that half back role in preseason he could give you a lot more upside than a Winderlich or Porpz. Remember his 2011 avg came from being the sub and playing only a 1/4 or so each game.
No Marc Murphy.. Have to be joking right?
don’t understand that one either?
Im debating whether Burgoyne is worth the risk. He is around 100k cheaper than Suckling/Birchall, averaged 89 in 2010 and only 70ish in 2011. Thoughts anyone?
He’s a risk, but if you’re willing to sabotage your team for a bit of dosh i guess you could go for him
how is rory sloane not DT relevant… look at any of the ‘breakout year’ articles on this site and 90% of the time sloaney is mentioned! was absolutely flying at the end of last season and is currently sitting in my team cos i’m not sold on either hayes or barlow atm.
