Stranded! Round 12 Review

Round 12 gave us some fun with the the DT Talk guys hamming it up on The Footy Show on Thurs night.  We then got to Sat and another belter between the Hawks and Cats and the round lasted right through to the Pies demolition of the Dees in the Queens Birthday game on Monday.  We had Swanny taking a break over in Arizona (or was it Vegas?) and what is with the Dockers and their matchstick legs, Mundy’s injury will cause a lot of trades this week, perhaps to Barlow who returns from his broken leg.  The Tigers had to take a bus to get home on Monday morning, the Bombers were stranded in Perth for Sunday night and were hopefully getting home on a flight on Monday night.  But the worst was the stranding of Warnie, Roy and Calvin in Melbourne for an extra night I am sure they didn’t enjoy the extra beers!   Anyway, let us know if your team was stranded or if they made the flight home!

    Vent/Brag/Whatever: JEREMY HOWE 85 AND 75 <3

    • At half time I made a mental note not to get Howe, as he was having clangers all over the place and generally playing terrible. By the end of the game I had changed my mind, and plan to get him in. I still think his execution was pretty poor, but he was involved in a lot of ball and gave the demons a focus point up forward. That attitude should hopefully get him some games.

    • Chapman best option for that price IMO

  • Anyone know why Nicholson was a late withdrawl today?
I hate getting in rookies, and they end up playing magoos for the rest of the year!!

  • Ah i don’t know what to do with adcock. Is this permanant or is he going to lift. He is almost back to his original price

  • Silvia will drop another 10k at least.
Anyone know the answer to my question above?

Vent/Brag/Whatever: I have the liklihood of Selwood, Montagna, Swan and Pendells out this week. I will see if I can pull a rabbit out on that one. I am hoping Montagna gets a guernsey, I will be hurting if he misses. At least I moved up in the overall although top 600s aint what I’m aiming for. I will probably run out of trades towards the end but not that fussed about it.

  • Am I right in saying that if Selwood gets 3, he only has 3 league games left before finals (of which he misses one)?

Makes keeping him a tough sell.

Guess that explains why 300 spastics have already traded him out on a Monday night…

    • That would be right……….and agree makes it very tough unless you sure of a top 4 finish i would reckon!!!

  • Might be forced to get rid of Selwood this week as I cannot afford to have a doughnut in my midfield. Looking at Scott Thompson ($400, 200) or Liam Shiels ($405, 800) as possible replacements. Who should I consider and any recommended replacements would be excellent.

Vent – Poor Mundy, lost me my eliminator with adcock lending a hand.
Brag – I have won every round that I’ve had an injured player affected score (grimes sylvia tapscott sandi watson curnow jvoldt) LOL and I’ve traded then all but Sylvia
Whatever – I’m sick of this season it’s been too hard to pick players based on form, because you can’t guarantee they’re not gonna get subbed, overworked, overpaced, underdone, sockcockitis (higgins I’m looking at you), etc. bring on GWS 2012 and the elimination of the stupid byes and hopefully a review and removal of the sub rule replaced with and extra couple of guys on the bench

    • I reckon DT would be sick as with a sub rule for us. We could have a back up player who we set as a substitue and then if someone is injured, e.g grimes, curnow, mundy, monty, You could sub a player on. It would be awesome to have there low scores removed and the substitutes counted. Would possibly be too hard to implement though.

  • Not looking good this week. Worst timing of a bye in dt history. Pendles and swan out not to mention selwood for 3 weeks, monty for the next 2 (injury then bye) and mundy all big names to miss. Id take 1900 this week with the Outs i’ve got. Anyone else got 4-5 premiums out this week?

    • Yeah mate same as you plus Dawes and Didak! Tempted to trade one of Monty (for poor form this year) or Selwood (3+ weeks & finals bye anyway) to GAJ

Vent/Brag/Whatever: If it wasn’t for Boyd, Shiels and handy 100s from Johnson, Pav and Goddard… The score would’ve been much much worst. Ohhhh and please dont tell me Mundy’s ankle is really bad??? One-two weeks i can handle but my mate told me it was Suban type injury…..Please NO!!!!!!!!!

    • Mundy’s ankle isn’t, i repeat isn’t really bad……….it’s just pretty bad!!! 6 to 8 weeks apparently. :-(

      http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/116166/default.aspx

      • Thanks buddy…..Now i have done the math. I can go Mundy > Fyfe and Judd > Thompson.

Still i’m up that creek anyway. Mundy just adds to the list?? 4 trades if i do that left. And still Gibbs, Duigan, Yarran and Heppell in my side! Doh Doh Doh Doh Doh Doh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a season that promised so much. Yet I’m still an average player when it comes to this game.

Still i’m happy in my leagues at the moment. Will do it the Blue Boys way finish 4th and never look back!!!!

Oh well there is next week, where i need to trade in a few newbies i Think! down to 7 trades… will need to think carefully on who to bring in :)

  • Hmm, should I get Suckling in this week or trade Selwood to Mitchell/GAJ?
Mitchell against Gold Coast is tempting and the tag has been going to Hodge recently. If I get MItchell it’s no Suckling next week though , I don’t want too many Hawks.

I think I will go Suckling. I have used DPP to make my midfield look respectable

Boyd, Thompson, Bartel, Goodes, Goddard, Mzungu

    • Considered Shiels instead of Mitchell??? More even spread of scoring as he takes more mark and has more tackles so less reliant on just possessions……..takes away the chances of those really bad games as doesnt need to have the ball to score.

      • Also sides more likely to tag Hodge & Mitchell at this stage, so Shiels has bit more freedom IMO.

Lets talk further about three DT DUDS from this week.
The DUDS go by the alias of Warnie Calvin & Roy.

    The story goes like this…

Yours truely, Lukes Legends & Chewy Rumballs headed into Fed Sqaure on Saturday afternoon to say gday and have a beer with other DT Talk regulars. After all it had been advertised for everyone on this site and privately in our DT cash league. Upon entering Transport and spotting the DT Talk guys, we headed on over to the group where I introduced myself to the 3 “hosts”. Warnie said hello then turned his back, while the other 2 said hi then sunk their heads back into their beers. None of the three even gave Lukes Legends or Chewy Rumballs a chance to introduce themselves.

Now, If I was hosting a catch up and people has gone out of their way to attend I would try to at least welcome them. Its a pretty big effort to make your way into the city and meet people you dont know by face and approach them.

Pretty lousy effort fella’s, thanks for wasting our time!

Second to TKOL’s email, i was extremely saddened by the result on sat afternoon at approx 245pm at Transport Bar. At first I was a little confused about TKOL’s passion to meet these guys… however i was very happy to attend and have a solid hour or so of DT talk in real life. (Let’s face it, no one talks DT like the DT website)

To be frank, i would expect more from a bunch of strangers. If LL’s, TKOL & Chewrumballs approached a bunch of strangers, we would have felt more welcomed. All in all, it was a waste of an hour which i will never be able to get back.

Won’t be making that sort of effort again.

      Happy Dreaming.

        • There is some down the ground footage, not great quality due to the distance, but show Selwood and Guerra standing really close then Guerra going down after JS makes contact with him. I had comfortably banked on Darling to hold his own and I would be able to pick up Sylvia for him next week (I’ve got $84K in the bank).

Now that he’s spudded up so badly Sylvia’s just out of my reach but I can use Krakwhore to get him next week (once Sylvia’s price drops a bit more).

I’m not really keen on getting rid of Krak over Darling – do you think I should bite the bullet and trade Krak or is there someone else out there I should be getting in for the money?
