Jonno Brown: Deck of Dream Team 2011

What a legend! But what head aches he gave us in 2010. This guy can pump out some huge DT numbers and on any given day he can win you matches… the groin has been fixed, but can JB get back to his best in 2011?

Name: Jonno Brown
Club: Brisbane
Position: Forward
Bye Rounds: 4 & 19
2010 Average: 86.9
2010 Games Played: 16
Predicted Average: 91

Why should I pick him? Cause he’s a great bloke! He is though, bloody good Aussie bloke! Oh and he can play. In 2006 he averaged a massive 110, and in 2010 he averaged a 86.9 which is under what he did in 2009 (avg. 95) making him, under valued and ready to be picked. Brownie can pump you out some mega big scores when he is on. 141, 140 and 138 were his top scores in 2010! Brownie is that tough… he’ll fight through injuries just to help out his DT coaches. This is not always a good thing, but knowing that he’ll be there, week in, week out is a huge plus. In 2010, he played through a bad groin injury for his 16 games and before that he only missed 1 game in the 3 years before that. JB is another guy who is perfect to have if you are going for a league win. With his byes falling in rounds where there are NO league games! The troubled groin has been operated on and JB should be back better than ever in 2011, with the goal of getting Brisbane back on track after a horror season. If anyone can do it… back in this legend!

Why shouldn’t I pick him? The groin operation will need 12 to 14 weeks rehabilitation. This means that JB will not be back into full training until early February. Can he get fully fit? This is one of the huge question marks over Brownie in 2011. Brownie is also no longer captain material for DT coaches. As his scores are so up and down, it makes him very unpredictable. His high scores of 2010 were 141, 140 and 138 as previously mentioned, but with lows of 37, 38 and 47 you could be mega pumped with him or swearing at him under your breath but just not loud even for him to hear!

Deck of DT Rating. KING – if you are picking JB first up, you have to keep him for the year. No matter what, he’s a keeper. This was me last year… I picked him up after his wicked start of 138, 141 (Rd. 1/2) then I was stuck with him for the year, and what a year it was. It was obvious he was playing injured and I found myself benching him because of the low numbers he was scoring… There is no doubt that JB is a gun and a legend, but if he can ‘get up and about’ in 2011, he’ll be worth it and I bloody hope so, cause I’ll be backing him in.
