destROY – Coached by Roy
Team Name: destROY
Final Ranking: 9,025th
League Results: L, L, W
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan.
DT Rising Star: Luke Shuey (won me the GF).
Best Round 1 Starter: Swan, Goddard
Worst Round 1 Starter: Relton Roberts, Ben Warren and Paul Medhurst.
Best Trade: In- Joel Selwood after a slow start.
Worst Trade: In- Leon Davis.
What have you learnt this year: Don’t pick so many sh*t players!

CALVINATOR. Coached by Calvin.

Team Name: Calvinator
Final Ranking: 4,010th
League Results: 3rd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Ashton Hams
Best Round 1 Starter: Luke Hodge
Worst Round 1 Starter: Robbie Gray, Nic Nat (sorry mate)
Best Trade: Brendon Goddard
Worst Trade: Jonno Brown/Matthew Pavlich
What have you learnt this year: That there is a big difference between people who chase a good national ranking compared to the people who chase league wins. There was always a difference but the gap between these people and how they play the game is amazing. The other thing I learnt is that ‘dual position players’ are worth their weight in gold and something I will look at next year more carefully. Oh and I also learnt you can’t control injuries, late withdrawals or just bad luck, so be unique and pick dudes you like cheering for. Cause at the end of the day… if you are going to go any good, you’ll need a sh*tload of good luck.

WARNE DAWGS – Coached by Warnie.
Team Name: Warne Dawgs
Final Ranking: 5,435th
League Results: 3rd and out in straight sets / 14th! / Premiers Baby!
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Michael Barlow
Best Initial Pick: Barlow obviously, but Beau Waters too.
Worst Initial Pick: Robbie FUCKING Gray.
Best Trade: Robbie Gray out for Colin Sylvia (even though his toe nearly died.
Worst Trade: Mitch Clark to Mark Seaby.
What have you learnt this year: It’s hard to catch up with a sh*t starting squad.

I’m Not Happy – Coached by Chopper.
Team Name: I’m Not Happy
Final Ranking: 6,808th
League Results: 9th, 9th and 2nd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Hanebery
Best Round 1 Starter: Michael Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Relton Roberts
Best Trade: I don’t think I had one
Worst Trade: Getting rid of Brown to Chapman… no need.. Brown had 134
What have you learnt this year: I have learnt not to trade out players that are consistent starters in their respective teams just because they bottom out in price… needed the cover in the finals.

Team Name: Gonna Make You Taste
Final Ranking: 9422
League Results: Premiers ($ league)/2nd/2nd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swannie
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Swan
Worst Round 1 Starter: Tippett
Best Trade: Prob Barlow to Thompson as it was a bit risky and freed up over 100k, also Tippett to Roo
Worst Trade: Got Hayes in for Round 20 for his ‘durability’ instead of GAJ or Monty, then he missed the next week
What have you learnt this year:
- Agree with Calvin that it is a markedly different approach going for league win or overall, I am thinking that I will have 2 different teams next year with the separate objectives.
- I had 3 trades going into finals and it was nowhere near enough, although I fell over the line.
- DT takes over your life, but it’s SO worth it :)
Bring on the new rules and strategies with the byes!
Team Name: Safe ‘N Fair Crew.
Final Ranking: 17,557
League Results: 2nd (Lost in Prelim) 4th (Lost in prelim)
DT Brownlow Medalist: Sweet Jesus Christ, A.K.A Dane swan.
DT Rising Star: Tom Rockliff.
Best Round 1 Starter: Luke Hodge.
Worst Round 1 Starter: Tied, Kurt (Basterd) Tippett and Robbie Gray.
Best Trade: In Swan, Out Mitchell. Round 7
Worst Trade: Out Drummond, In Chad Cornes. Round 8
What have you learnt this year: Stay with the tried and true dt legends when selecting a squad, invest more in rookies, trust Calvin’s Captains more often, DO NOT start without Swan, never pick an injury prone player (drummond…) and save a few trades for the final, your gonna need them. I’ll definitely be back nexy year, Dreamteam’s alright with me, Aww yeah!! :)
mitchell’s alright
Yeah but hardly week in, week out captain material. Having a player i could lock every week really helped me out.
Team Name: LaHug
Final Ranking: 15,064
League Results: 3rd/Premiers
DT Brownlow Medalist: Boyd or Selwodd (after a slow start)
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Hodge
Worst Round 1 Starter: Heath Shaw (don’t care if he killed it round 1, should never have picked him up because I could never get rid of him)
Best Trade: Maguire to Gram
Worst Trade: Trading out Waters instead of Kennelly (did pick up Goddard though), Getting ROK at $425k, Roo to Brown
What have you learnt this year: Don’t trade rookies because they have “topped out”; a high breakeven can disappear quickly. Don’t downgrade rookies just to make cash for later unless they’ve really peaked! Don’t trade out solid players just because they have a bit of a form slip, trade them when you have something to gain from it. If you are going to trade someone out, do it before they drop by $200k…
Team Name: Leather Poisoning
Final Ranking: 3270
League Results: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Michael Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Beau Waters
Worst Round 1 Starter: Kurt Tippett and Relton Roberts
Best Trade: Lockyer to Chapman in round 4
Worst Trade: Clark to Seaby in round 3
What have you learnt this year: Never pick clark or tippett again, dual position players are more valuable than what i thought initially. Mid priced improvers are a waste of time, eg. mark mcveigh, dangerfield, masten, armitage, ballantyne to name a few. depending on rookie depth next year, my strategy may change to a gun and rookies only starting squad, high risk but would have worked okay this year. and finally saving at least 1 trade for the GF, and probably having at least 4 trades before the finals series start.
Team Name: Toenail Clippings
Final Ranking: 5,415
League Results: 1st/2nd/2nd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Goddard
DT Rising Star: Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Goddard, Hodge
Worst Round 1 Starter: Gumbleton
Best Trade: Gumbleton to Didak
Worst Trade: Martin to Stanton (could’ve gotten someone wayyy better)
What have you learnt this year: DT Talk is a f**king good website went from 30 000 odd last year to 5,415 in national rankings. Oh and maybe that people are very cheap at the start of the season for a reason. AKA Daniel Kerr, Mark McVeigh…
Team Name: Dal4Brownlow
Final Ranking: 657
League Results: Win (wish I’d gone in a tougher league – like a DT talk league as per previous years, meant overall ranking was the only interest all year as came up against spastics in my league week in week out)
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Rockliff for playing out the season in style, but if it was chosen half way through, then definitely Barlow.
Best Round 1 Starter: Swan
Worst Round 1 Starter: Armitage, Balla, Hall, Naitinui – gee there were a few I had to cull early on but it would have to be Army as number one
Best Trade: Roo to Chappy, Pods to Roo, but the best tactical move was the double over a month (Ball to McKenzie in round 3 then McKenzie to Joey in round 9 = straight swap really + $20k), Army to Hayes, theres been a few that I’ve been happy with!
Worst Trade: Hall to Dangerfield, Basta to Gysberts, Picking Judd & Gilbert instead of Kelly & Boyd was monumental when Grimes & Barlow got injured. – still not terrible but stopped me from getting top 500 or higher.
What have you learnt this year: Two things;
1) When a bloke with known injuries or age against him goes down, ie Hille, Kennelly, Goose, Grimes, Goodwin, you just gotta know when to pull the trigger. Even if and when they do come back, they are never the same player, did the right thing with Hille, Kennelly & Grimes but kept Goose too long.
2) There is a hell of a lot of luck involved when you are in the top 1000 pushing for higher rankings.
Team Name: Braveinator
Final Ranking: 5,533
League Results: 2nd/ 2nd / 2nd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Michael Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Brendon Goddard
Worst Round 1 Starter: Ryan Hargrave
Best Trade: Barlow > Swan
Worst Trade: Sandilands > Ryder (ROUND 21)
What have you learnt this year: Save at least 5 trades for finals at least 2 each for rounds 21 & 22 because late withdraws and resting players kills you. And don’t trade in $77K and rookies out just before finals because there price or averages have bottomed out you need cover.
Team Name: Max’s Legends
Final Ranking: 150k ( started round 3 )
League Results: lost Granny by around 300 with 19 players
DT Brownlow Medalist: Adam Goodes ( someone said to bring him in for second half of the year so thats all im going off, the second half )
DT Rising Star: JARED GRANT!! or Trent Dennis lane
Best Round 1 Starter: My saints, Dal , Mont, God, and roo ( for two rounds)
Worst Round 1 Starter: Roo ( after those two rounds )
Best Trade: Nic Nat to mumford right after seaby left i thought that would immprove his scores, did ( although he would of been nice to have in the grand final! )
Worst Trade: in- CARRAZZO got him right when he started tagging!!!!!
What have you learnt this year: dont be so trade happy and dont sell cash cows before there fully grown
Team Name: That’s Not Cricket
Final Ranking: 952nd
League Results: 1st/Premiers in all three, woo!
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Michael Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Michael Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Hargrave was a terrible pick, also Liam Anthony – a unique pick which backfired
Best Trade: a double trade in round 6 to turn Hunt/Shuey into Lenny Hayes who played great from then
Worst Trade: Gysberts, this years beau Muston. Also Clark for Hille instead of Cox
What have you learnt this year: the difference between myself and the top guys all season was a different starting squad of 2 players. Also I skimped on an early captain and it cost me huge.
I ran 8 different captains in the first 10 rounds and had one 100. In round 10 I worked out if i could of swapped Bartel to Ablett and Hargrave to GIlbert in my starting sqauds and had Ablett lock in captain i’d be in the top10. So sick, so next season its Swan locked and loaded from round 1.
Team Name: *b!Lls BoYs*
Final Ranking: 775
League Results: 3rd/3rd/won
DT Brownlow Medalist:Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow obviously, and ben howlett filled in awesomely a few tomes
Best Round 1 Starter: barlow, waters
Worst Round 1 Starter:
Worst Trade: Higgins – brown when higgins did his ankle, the week brown was a late withdrawal and out for six weeks ( then traded to goodes the following week and thoght i’d messed that one up as well when he got 48.)
Best Trade: Brown to goodes – averaged me 101.2 for the season
What have you learnt this year: don’t hesitate to trade as soon as someone gets a 2-3 week injury, you dont have to wait till cash cows are fully grown, and get no mid price players; guns and rookies.
First thing I wanted to say was———–> You DT Talk boys did a valiant job all year. A big thanks for saving me and guiding me through my first season of DT.. Bring on 2011!!
Team Name: Up There Cazaly
Final Ranking: 17,309 – 44,478pts
League Results: 2nd/10th – bloody 2nd in both cause of a gargantuan 4 donuts in the GF
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane
DT Rising Star: Barlow, closely followed by Hannebery
Best Round 1 Starters: Swan, Brown, Ablett and Barlow on the bench :)
Worst Round 1 Starter: Relton Roberts
Best Trade: Hodge and Chapman
Worst Trade: Out Didak — In Brennan
What have you learnt this year: Dont get trade happy!!!!!!!! Be more patient with trusted and consistent performers.. Have some sort of strategy going in, especially now the rules will change forever more..
Team Name : THS
Final Ranking : 106
League Results : W
Brownlow : Ablett(only had Swan from Rd 12)
Rising Star : Barlow/Rockliff
Best Rd 1 Starter : Ablett, Goddard and Chapman
Worst Rd 1 Starter : Carrazzo, Tippett
Best Trade : Goodes for Barry Hall
Worst Trade : Gilbee for Maguire
What have I learnt : Contrary to popular belief, I don’t think it’s essential to have a heap of trades up your sleeve come finals time. You’re better off using them judiciously during the season. You can only use two trades per week so I just don’t get why people are so fixated on having heaps of trades at the end of the season.
Look at this week for example. How many people got burnt with all of the late outs? It wasn’t because of no trades, it was because they didn’t have bench cover. Sure, in an ideal world, I’d rather have trades up my sleeve, but the reality is, if you’ve done your homework and have good bench cover, you’ll get better value out of your trades using them to bolster your team throughout the year by upgrading to premiums.
Lastly, a special mention to the luck factor. Without a huge slice of luck, all of the research in the world re getting the foundations right at the start of the year and recruiting the right rookies wont help you without massive amounts of luck because in this game there is only so much you can control. The rest, like late withdrawals, role changes, injuries and form slumps are all factors totally out of our control, hence the luck factor. Thanks for all the info and humour throughout the year to the DT crew. It was alot of fun. Seeya next year.
Team Name: Greenys tanks
Final Ranking: 706
League Results: premier, premier, runner up
DT Brownlow Medalist: Probably the same as everyone. dane swan
DT Rising Star:Tom rockliff. Is barlow too old?
Best Round 1 Starter: Luke Hodge/Jimmy bartel
Worst Round 1 Starter:jack Grime. Heath Shaw. Barry Hall
Best Trade: when riewodlt got injured, traded in rockliff. then went connors to ablett in same week
Worst Trade: sandilands to mumford before rd 21. hille to graham. grimes to russell
What have you learnt this year: need to start the year with the absolute guns. ie swan, goddard, chapman, ablett. traded all them in mid year. career best ranking, even with some terrible choices with trading. i was at once stage about 100th, and then slowly fell apart.
H.shaw, o keefe, stanton and russell are not welcome back into my team
Team Name: Aussie Wombats
Final Ranking: 2851
League Results: DT Talk World – 1st (Ladder) / lost the GF by 120 points.
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan (not one score below 80) and 19 games 100+
DT Rising Star: Michael Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Brendon Goddard
Worst Round 1 Starter: Paul Medhurst, with Chris Masten coming pretty close 2nd.
Best Trade: Straight swap of Barlow to Montagna
Worst Trade: Barry Hall to Jonathon Brown (who then went on to miss 3 in a row)
What have you learnt this year: A rookie rule but learnt from it the hard way… At least save 4-6 trades for the finals no matter what, because you never know what can happen day in day out…
Team Name: Wanted killer
Final Ranking: 18700ish i think… haha better luck next year
League Results: won one final thanks to shuey/knocked out in the other in the semi.
DT Brownlow Medalist: Barlow/Swan
DT Rising Star: Todd banfield/hannelbery
Best Round 1 Starter: barlow what a bloody gun.
Worst Round 1 Starter: Tippet you asshole.
Best Trade: barlow to boyd i made 4k from it + at one stage he was worth 1/4 of his price he got traded for.
Worst Trade: massive stuff up picked up tippet traded to danger, then to reimeres then to stevie j who gets suspended -.-.
What have you learnt this year:
– i will have to pick up goddard and chappy earlier, i got them in the finals.
– i was kind of a sheep in a way and followed too many players and kind of had my team chosen by you guys :)
- 4 players i will not pick up again are shaw, carrots, hargrave and gia.
Gia increased his average to his best ever (93.2, previous best 93.1 in 2008) and played all 22 games! Inconsistent yes, but you couldn’t have asked for too much more!
Team Name: Roy’s Rangbinos
Final Ranking: 2339
League Results: W/W/Prelim
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Michael Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Swan, Goddard, Montagna, BARLOW
Worst Round 1 Starter: Tippett, Clark, Warnock
Best Trade: Barlow to Ablett
Worst Trade: Clark to Seaby lol
What have you learnt this year:
i went skimp on my rucks from the start, got Clark and 2nd ruck was Warnock.
wasted 2 trades in the ruck in the first month, Clark to Seaby, Seaby to Sandi Warnock to Cox
started stron in all areas except the rucks. 3 rookie mid worked well, with Barlow, martin and Trengove, with Montagna, Swan and Bartel the other 3
if i didnt waste the trades in the ruck i would of had a lot better season :(
Team Name: Rage Against DT
Final Ranking: 12068
League Results: 4th / 11th / 1st

Best Trade: Jordan Gysberts to Brent Harvey
Worst Trade: Mitch Duncan to Ben Griffiths
What have you learnt this year: To get my forward bench right at the start of the year for a change.
Team Name: squeal like a pig
Final Ranking: 8,504
League Results: Win 3 Grannys
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swanny
DT Rising Star: Rockliff

DT Rising Star: Tommy rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Goddard
Worst Round 1 Starter: Hargrave
Best Trade:Out trengove in barlow ( round one)
Worst Trade: Out tippet in peterson ( what was I thinking)
What have you learnt this year: starting with rookies is good and don’t straight swap. you either want premiums or rookies.
Team Name: Last Chance Heroes
Final Ranking: 2851
League Results: L,L,L
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Waters/Swan
Worst Round 1 Starter: Hargrave
Best Trade: Voldt to Chapman in Round 4
Worst Trade: Gram to Carrazzo right went Carrazzo’ season went downhill
What have you learnt this year: DPP players were more valuable than I thought, don’t pick players based on 1 good year. Long term injured players (and therefore reduced starting price) can be gold but it’s a risk. Don’t waste trades on the ruck and therefore have a backup at the start, Rucks will get injured. Wasted money on mid priced improvers like Dangerfield and Ballantyne when Scully & Trengove were cheaper and scored more.
Team Name: tumbleweeds
Final Ranking: around 1900th
League Results:Lost all 3 grand finals as highest ranked player in each league.

Worst Round 1 Starter: Buchanon (injured), hunt and Hargrave
Best Trade: Dangerfield to Chapman
Worst Trade: Riewoldt to Brennan
What have you learnt this year: Save trades and do research in pre-season
Team Name: The Mob
Final Ranking: 1,088
League Results: L/L/L
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Dane Swan
Worst Round 1 Starter: Mitch Clark
Best Trade: Boyd (round 15)
Worst Trade: Pavlich (round 11)
What have you learnt this year: I started with a loaded midfield (if Barlow stayed fit it would have been complete by round 6 – Swan, Ablett, Bartel, K. Cornes, Martin, Barlow – Shuey, Banner) and it paid off with consistent high scores. But the biggest thing I learnt was to not back in the mid priced players expecting them to increase. Much better off going rookie/premiums and only the mids that you know are underpriced for a reason (injuries the previous year). Another thing I learnt was to back my instinct, too many times I double guessed myself and didn’t take the risk and nearly every time it messed me up.
Team Name: Raiders
Final Ranking: around 3542

DT Brownlow Medalist: Swanny
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Medhurst
Best Trade: Roo when injured to chappy
Worst Trade: Getting Brown in last 4 rounds for pods
What have you learnt this year: Dont rush your trades.. i did the hughes trade to no avail.
Just a suggestion.. would be good to hear feed back on!
The GF winners should have a spot in the DT Talk leagues they won, in the following year, to defend their title. For example, L Presidentae won DT Talk WA 2010… they should get an automatic spot in 2011 DT Talk WA.
What do you guys think?

Out in all leagues in straight sets… Cost me my job at the Gaitbuls. The Board have fried my arse and I am out on the streets til someone else picks me up for next season!
