CALVINATOR. Coached by Calvin.

Team Name: Calvinator
Final Ranking: 4,010th
League Results: 3rd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Ashton Hams
Best Round 1 Starter: Luke Hodge
Worst Round 1 Starter: Robbie Gray, Nic Nat (sorry mate)
Best Trade: Brendon Goddard
Worst Trade: Jonno Brown/Matthew Pavlich
What have you learnt this year: That there is a big difference between people who chase a good national ranking compared to the people who chase league wins. There was always a difference but the gap between these people and how they play the game is amazing. The other thing I learnt is that ‘dual position players’ are worth their weight in gold and something I will look at next year more carefully. Oh and I also learnt you can’t control injuries, late withdrawals or just bad luck, so be unique and pick dudes you like cheering for. Cause at the end of the day… if you are going to go any good, you’ll need a sh*tload of good luck.

Best Round 1 Starter: Michael Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Relton Roberts
Best Trade: I don’t think I had one
Worst Trade: Getting rid of Brown to Chapman… no need.. Brown had 134
What have you learnt this year: I have learnt not to trade out players that are consistent starters in their respective teams just because they bottom out in price… needed the cover in the finals.

Final Ranking:1602
League Results:3rd/3rd
DT Brownlow Medalist:Goddard
DT Rising Star:TRock
Best Round 1 Starter:Goddard/Hodge
Worst Round 1 Starter:Medhurst (why did I believe the cr*p that was out there before round 1), Gia (good season but cost me the prelim with 37)
Best Trade:Goodes
Worst Trade:Ryder in for Hille
What have you learnt this year:Luck always plays a big part in DT finals, smashed it this season but let down in prelim by poor scores and late withdrawls. Rubbed salt into the wound to score 2316 and rank 21st overall in the GF weekend when I’m not even playing.
Team Name: Cokes 4 Stokes
Final Ranking: 898
League Results: Won GF
DT Brownlow Medalist: Has to be Swannie!
DT Rising Star: Barlow – if he is fully fit next year…
Best Round 1 Starter: Barlow for sure
Worst Round 1 Starter: Grobbie Ray
Best Trade: Getting in Swan when he bottomed out
Worst Trade: Sandi to Mumford last week – then the prick lasts a quarter! Or trading Didak to Selwood just before this lockout using all my money and last trade, only for the f**ker to withdraw late!
What have you learnt this year: With finals in Round 22 there will always be guns rested. Not many coaches would be unaffected by this. I had 2 trades and lots of cash left for the GF this year. Next year I will have the trades up my sleeve, but not much cash, as I was trading gun for gun and had $150K left in the bank after that. Playing emergencies also won me the flag, so very important in the GF….

DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Michael Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Dane Swan
Worst Round 1 Starter: Relton Roberts

Best Round 1 Starter: Goddard, Swan, Hodge, Sandilands
Worst Round 1 Starter: Relton Roberts
Best Trade: Barlow to Ablett, Martin to Hayes
Worst Trade: Hille to Kruser to Clarke
What have you learnt this year:
-Although DPP is great I found I picked up players that didn’t score as highly as non-DPP. i think that strategy cost me a few hundred points
-Total score is much more challenging than trying to win a league… to much luck in winning leagues.
-My mrs hates DT bad!!
-I’m empty without DT… c’mon Y! Fantasy NBA.
Team Name: Karens Cruisers
Final Ranking: 61st
League Results: 1st
DT Brownlow Medalist: Barlow/ chapman
DT Rising Star: Martin
Best Round 1 Starter: Ablett, hodge, goddard, chapman
Worst Round 1 Starter: hargrave, s.edwards(richmond)
Best Trade: either Kelly in for hodge last round, or goodes in for hall before goodes started to turn it on
Worst Trade: nick riewoldt to brennan by a country mile,
What have you learnt this year: trades are gold (went the first 4 weeks without trading) and if youve done enough research the 5 starting rookies strategy (3 mid, 1 back, 1 forward) can really pay of when it leads to a midfield of ablett, swan, montagna, judd, sellwood and delidio by rd 12
Team Name:Silent Assassins
Final Ranking:28,936
League Results:5th, lost in the second final
DT Brownlow Medalist:Swannie
DT Rising Star:Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Shiels, wtf?
Best Trade:Martin to Dal santo when his price dropped.
Worst Trade: More like worst waste of trades in a fwd line. Started bradshaw, Rnd 2 Bradshaw to Roughead, Rnd 7 Roughead to Gray, R11 Gray to Playfair.
What have you learnt this year: For my first year of dt i think i have definitely learned the importance of trades. I will also start of with a better team, luckily i chose some good players, unfortunately some of my other picks lead me down. Bring on 2011!
Team Name: Superteds Soldiers
Final Ranking: 2411
League Results: lost GF in every league
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Goddard
Worst Round 1 Starter: Robbie Gray
Best Trade: Trengove to Swan
Worst Trade: Howlett to Gysberts
What have you learnt this year: Being ranked #1 in total points means nothing when you lose every GF
Team Name: From Zero to Hero
Final Ranking: 1847
League Results: Runner up :-(
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan Dog
DT Rising Star: Tom Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Goddard
Worst Round 1 Starter: Tarkin Lockyer
Best Trade: Out: Lockyer In: fyfe
Worst Trade: Out: Macguire In: Gilbee
What have you learnt this year: Don’t trade in up and down defenders that tend to get tagged alot (i.e Gilbee!).
Also, when theres an abundance of rookie talent in the Mids (or any position), you can afford to start with one less premium and pick an extra cash cow/rookie player in that position at the start of the year. I think because I got burnt doing this the year before, i was put off doin it this season.
Be very careful selecting starters that are 30+ in age (i.e. Tarkin Lockyer).
Overall, a good season though. First time i’ve cracked top 2000. Frustrating to come runner up in main league once again (yes, two years straight i’ve lost in the big dance).
Which league is the main league, Bray! I carved you up in the prelim of ours!
Team Name: Xplosive
Final Ranking: 4093
League Results: 1st
DT Brownlow Medalist: Ablett Jnr (didn’t have Swan!)
DT Rising Star: Jack Trengove (made me the most cash and filled in with some good scores)
Best Round 1 Starter: Ablett Jnr
Worst Round 1 Starter: Gumbleton
Best Trade: Ziebell > Goodes in R10
Worst Trade: Masten > Anthony (had to trade Anthony out next round due to injury)
What have you learnt this year:
- Be really anal with checking who’s available and who isn’t at the start of the season (selected Fisher but wasn’t available for the first few weeks and had to trade him out) – Sam Fisher wasted me a trade early
- Always get the star player of the year into your team by latest mid-season (this year it was Swan)
- Don’t select Chris Masten next season – he doesn’t win enough ball in space through marks, has a low K:H ratio, struggles unless he is playing in his natural position and Worsfold doesn’t like to play him in his natural position.
- Don’t select Jack Ziebell next season – doubts over durability to last a full AFL season with his style of play and has subpar endurance – can’t spend long periods in the midfield and pushing up the ground, at this stage, so his scores will be ordinary.
- Don’t select Pat Dangerfield next season – doubts over durability to last a full AFL season with his style of play, doesn’t spend long enough periods in the midfield, isn’t a good stat accumulator (more of a low possession, impact player) – needs to kick 3+ goals to get a ton.
- A strategy that leans more towards G&R then MPI is obviously more risky as there are greater unknowns with rookies, has the potential to burn a lot of trades fast, but also has the ability to give you a much better finishing team – there are very few MPI that are genuine keepers.
- If you’re not in the top 500 by R14-16 go for broke with trades (unless you have a league prize on the line or something like that on the line) – you have nothing to loose and potentially a lot to gain.
Team Name: Shifter
Final Ranking: 3,324
League Results: 2nd (Lost in Prelim)
DT Brownlow Medalist: Matthew Boyd
DT Rising Star: Tom Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Tom Rockliff
Worst Round 1 Starter: Mitch Clark
Best Trade: Ziebell to Didak after Round 4.
Worst Trade: Clark to Seaby after round 2.
What have you learnt this year: Probably don’t need as much spare cash floating round at the start and should spend said cash n picking less shit players.
Team Name: The Trrrumpers
Final Ranking: 446
League Results: Cash League Win
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Rockcliffe
Best Round 1 Starter: 6 rookie midfield
Worst Round 1 Starter: Clarke
Best Trade: Goodes in after his 48 (Ave 108 after that)
Worst Trade: Clarke to Seaby
What have you learnt this year: Patience
Team Name: The DANominators
Final Ranking: 937 PB (2nd season)
League Results: Winner | 3rd | Runner-up
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan.com
DT Rising Star: Tommy Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Swandog
Worst Round 1 Starter: Jack Zeibel the c**t
Best Trade: ziebell to goodes when goodes came goodes.
Worst Trade: Hall to Balla, only bad trade for the yr
What have you learnt this year: That im a f**ken sikunt, and i also learnt how to get official cautions in the coaches box for both my DT Talk leagues.
Team Name: Henley Hawks
Final Ranking: 17,333
League Results: Winner
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Ryan Bastinac
Best Round 1 Starter: Michael Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Relton Roberts
Best Trade: Turning adversity into advantage with the Kruezer and Ziebell injuries – turning them in Montagna and Chapman.
Worst Trade: Hodge to Enright in round 22 – donut to donut
What have you learnt this year:
- Take your finger off that trade trigger and let your rookies mature for another week
- Retaining trades for the finals was crucial as guns get rested in the final weeks of the season
- Identify your must haves before the start of the season and try to include as many as possible in your round 1 line up: will save you trades later (my midfield barely need to change all year as it started with J. Selwood, GAJ, Boyd, Swan, Mitchell)
- Save money in the ruck: you can spend lots of money for little reward, better use it elsewhere. In reality you only need 2 reliable rucks (i.e. Jolly played 135 consecutive games) and 1 back up. Use the other on the cheapest available.
Team Name: The Black Klaws
Final Ranking: 980
League Results: 1st, 1st, 3rd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow/Rocklif
Best Round 1 Starter: Hodge, Malceski, Waters
Worst Round 1 Starter: Robbie Gray/Kurt Tippett
Best Trade: Voldt -> Chapman
Worst Trade: Cox -> Ottens
What have you learnt this year: Selecting the right rookies and underpriced players at the start of the season are crucial. It save you trades that you can hopefully have in the bank for a final with so many withdrawals!
Team Name: East Dillon
Final Ranking: 1931
League Results: 1st/1st
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Goddard
Worst Round 1 Starter: M. Clark
Best Trade: Clark to Sandilands
Worst Trade: Medhurst to D. Hughes
What have you learnt this year: If you have Sandilands in your team all preseason don’t pull the f**kin pin on him seconds before the lock out and get the average footballer that is Mitch Clark in
Team Name: Nic Nat Paddy Whac
Final Ranking: 3695th
League Results: Won flag in all three leagues.
DT Brownlow Medalist: Brendon Goddard
DT Rising Star: Tom Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Brendon Goddard
Worst Round 1 Starter: Ryan O’Keefe
Best Trade: Double trade: Warren down to J Grant and D Martin to Ablett
Worst Trade: Riewoldt to ROK after round 3
What have you learnt this year:
1) ROK is on my retired list for DT for good
2) Tom Rockliff was amazing for me this year
3) Brendon Goddard is the most reliable player in DT history
4) I’m glad I never picked up Chapman
Chapman was probably the most consistent player all year…
yeah chapman is a dud DT player, why would you pick him, averaged almost 20ppg more than the next best forward you stupid dickhead, and only missed 1 game.
Team Name: YorTimeupmytimeNOW
Final Ranking: 1426
League Results: Lost GF.
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan.

League Results: Won all 3 Grand Finals.
DT Brownlow Medalist: 3 way tie. Swan – Goddard – Hayes
DT Rising Star: Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Hayes
Worst Round 1 Starter: Garland
Best Trade: Martin > Swan
Worst Trade: When my sister accidently traded Shuey instead of Gysberts to Boyd.
What have you learnt this year: Having cover in finals is key! More often than not, the best DTer’s are going to come from the best AFL clubs for the year.. and those wanker coaches love resting our guns when it really counts!
Oh, and girls can be just as good, if not better than the boys when it comes to DT.
Flossy for 2011!
Team Name:Hookmiesters
Final Ranking:6950
League Results: 3rd/ Win
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Tippet
Best Trade: Lenny Hayes in for Masten
Worst Trade: Seaby in for Tippet
What have you learnt this year: Gunna need to save more trades for the end of the year with all the resting going on and having playing emergencies in every position to cover late withdrawels
Team Name:Tether
Final Ranking:3,176

Team Name: Young Gunz
Final Ranking: 620th
League Results: 1st/5th
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan/Goddard/Chapman
DT Rising Star: Strijk/Barlow/Podsiadly
Best Round 1 Starter: Hodge, Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Dangerfield
Best Trade: Ball -> Swan
Worst Trade: Shuey -> Gysberts
What have you learnt this year: Always have cover and DPP’s are awesome
Team Name: Top Blokes
Final Ranking: 22510
League Results: W\W\W
DT Brownlow Medalist: Gaz
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Chappy
Worst Round 1 Starter: Leon F^&ing Davis
Best Trade: McNeil – DPP Goodness
Worst Trade: missing out on Howlett and Rockliff
What have you learnt this year: Swings and roundabouts. Had some bad luck during the year (finished 8th in one league despite scoring the most points) but then luck came my way in the prelim and grand final with the right players being rested.
Team Name:nineforasausage
Final Ranking: 5800
League Results: Prelims/7th/Grand Finalist
DT Brownlow Medalist: G. Ablett
DT Rising Star: S. Gumbleton
Best Round 1 Starter: Ablett (He only went up for about 12 weeks)
Worst Round 1 Starter: Any of LeCras, Tippett, Clark.
Best Trade: Bringing in Goddard the week before he scored 6 consecutive 120+ games.
Worst Trade: Shuey for Gysberts. Cost me an important trade and donut a few weeks ago. Could have used that trade to save a donut this week.
What have you learnt this year: Pick the best possible rookies regardless of the price; no mid-prices; no second year players; no full-forwards; no all-premium ruck combo cos their avg doesn’t warrant a premo combo and they’re injury prone; stick with durable players. Next year I reckon I can make top 1000.
What about the likes of: Malceski, Waters, Hunt, Maguire & Kennelly?
Some of these guys in the backline saved me HEAPS of trades and made me HEAPS of cash!
Team Name: President Orb-Bamas
Final Ranking: 122
League Results: 1st/1st/3rd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Luke Shuey for his determination to bounce back from everything possible and score me 107 in the Grand Final to cover Selwood!
Best Round 1 Starter: Michael Barlow (Rookie) Grendan Goddard (Premium)
Worst Round 1 Starter: Seamus Mcnamara (haha but he is the only one he didnt play which i knew)
Best Trade: Bastinac to Hayes who only scored under 100 once since the trade
Worst Trade: Gysberts as a cash cow. Played 1 game for me.
What have you learnt this year:
I learnt that in a league worth money it would be better if eveyone paid up at the start cos now i need to chase 2 league wins and $1600.
Also if ur in contention for the grand prize make sure your really really in contention. I was very close to trading to cover zeros in round 22. If i had done so i would have got a better overall score but potentially lost one of my finals.
Apart from that 122nd overall is my best effort by a fair whack! And very proud of my team.
Also thanks for the site boys!! Its such a good help and great place to spend a few hours a week in between work. Cheers!
Team Name: Lee’s Beasts
Final Ranking: 35962
League Results: 12/3/10
DT Brownlow Medalist: Barlow
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Barlow, Hille for value
Worst Round 1 Starter: Jeez: Leon Davis, Medhurst, Hargrave, Robbie Gray (thanks Warnie)
Best Trade: Gray > Chappy (too late, but still good)
Worst Trade: Shit, Voldt > Brown, Martin > Gibbs, Hall > Pav, Hargrave > Scotland, Sandi > Goldstein (when injured)
What have you learnt this year:
Wow, to hell with this get mid-priced players scam. Load up with rookies.
Almost EVERYONE drops in price (except Barlow), you don’t need to have all the stars you want at the start.
I suck and will not provide opinions. Happy to give stats, but not opinions.
Team Name: Cardiomegaly
Final Ranking: 5187
League Results: L/L
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Goddard
Worst Round 1 Starter: Tippet
Best Trade: Bringing in Swan at his cheapest.
Worst Trade: Was quite lucky and made the most of all my trades, i guess worse would be trading out Phil Davis instead of Gumby as I would have had added cover with Davis come finals time.
What have you learnt this year: To go for the right mix of premiums, underpriced premiums and rookies in order to reduce the number of trades used throughout the year.
Team Name: Aces In The Hole
Final Ranking: 1211
League Results: Top place by a country mile, lost the final to a team with 22 players
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Chappy, I had the faith, he was best forward by a mile
Worst Round 1 Starter: Ben McEvoy – preseason form was an illusion
Best Trade: Rnd 5 – Wright -> Rocky, Hitchcock -> Pods
Worst Trade: nothing too bad, some better downgrades to playing benchies might have helped
What have you learnt this year: DPP is important. Never pick a key position/ruckman as captain. Don’t jump on bandwagon overperforming muppets like Seaby. Don’t trade coz there is marginal improvement to be made, downgrade for cash or upgrade for a gun who will be in for the rest of the season. DT Talk is a fantastic resource site. I’m going to be mighty bored for the next 4-5 months.
Team Name: the cobs
Final Ranking: 12,000ish
League Results: 1 grand final win
DT Brownlow Medalist: Rischitelli!
DT Rising Star: HAMSSSSSS
Best Round 1 Starter: Selwood
Worst Round 1 Starter: Sam wright/joel macdonald/kurt tippet
Best Trade: Shuey for rischitelli!!
Worst Trade:hille for krezuer the round he did his ACL
What have you learnt this year: hmm well its hard to say. depending on if your going for league glory or national ranking i guess. i started the year with nothing but national ranking in mind, couldnt give a f**k about winning the league. but as the year progressed, and my national ranking worsened, league wins became more appealing. by round 15 …i had 0 trades left, a fleeting national ranking and seemingly no hope of winning my league. as it happened – i ended up winning the grand final of my main league with a score of 1733 against a bloke who had dominated our league all year (he had 5 donuts, i had 3). so basically i didnt learn f**kall from that experience!! but i did learn to value trades and pick a f**king better team at the start of the year WITH NO FUCKING HACKS IN IT
Also, a little side story for some tru inspiration. at about round 19 when i figured all was lost (shit national ranking, no chance of winning my league – i held a press conference and stepped down from my coaching role…handing over the caretaking coaching responsibilities to my pet cat fred. since then fred and the cobs didnt look back! cruising to an unlikely GF victory. his facebook page is here at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Fred/122355727814262?ref=ts he hasnt taken off as i would have liked so far so lets get our support behind him aha. did i mentioned he’s 19 years old?
Team Name: idk wtf.
Final Ranking:14,437
League Results: Lost GF :(
DT Brownlow Medalist: Hodge
DT Rising Star: Tom Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Barlow, Hodge, ROK
Worst Round 1 Starter: Hall, Bitch Clark, Gian’
Best Trade: Hitchcock to Rioli (Rioli at 299,800 bitchcock at 208K)
Worst Trade:Sandi to Mumford late in the season cost me GF
What have you learnt this year: Back the players you pick. Dont be in a hurry to trade rooks that play almost 22 game (like martin, bastinac and trengove) NEVER swap captians that are named Swan.
Team Name: Smokin’ Popes
Final Ranking: 47,436
League Results: 2 grand final wins in my main leagues.
DT Brownlow Medalist: Brendan Goddard
DT Rising Star: Barlow, Barlow, Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Dane Swan. Took him over Ablett and never looked back.
Worst Round 1 Starter: Gia, but I stayed on him all year.
Best Trade: Tippett. Picked him up dirt cheap when he bottomed out and he stayed healthy all year.
Worst Trade: Playfair. Got two games out of him, both on the bench.
What have you learnt this year: Gun players deserve to be kept, even if they’re out for a week or two. Especially if it’s through suspension and not injury. Held onto Rioli late in the season and saved a vital trade. Got me over the line in the end.
Team Name: Nerds FC
Final Ranking: 467th
League Results: LLLLL
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow eligible? otherwise Ben Nason (i cut him at the perfect time so he served me well)
Best Round 1 Starter: Swan/Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Relton
Best Trade: Trengove to Boyd
Worst Trade: Does pods to Relton 5 mins before season start count? otherwise D.Martin to JKT
What have you learnt this year: had a relton roberts like preseason and it cost me, planning a big one this offseason.
Team Name: Crumpet Crushers

League Results: 1st, 2nd, 2nd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Luke Hodge
DT Rising Star: Tom Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Luke Hodge
Worst Round 1 Starter: Daniel Kerr
Best Trade: Reiwoldt > Chapman
Worst Trade: Brent Harvey > Dangerfield
What have you learnt this year: Remember who u got in your team to make money and get rid of them once they have instead of cutting gun players after they let u down.
Team Name: JigoJitoku
Final Ranking: 560
League Results: WWW
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan from round one.
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Rockliff (even though he wasn’t picked round one, I saved a trade {and didn’t get Roberts})
Worst Round 1 Starter: Ballantyne, Hitchcock, Jetta
Best Trade: Round 5 – Hitchcock to Harvey & Ballantyne to Pods
Worst Trade: Gysberts or Didak in round 20.
What have you learnt this year: Keep your trades (I had 7 for the finals). Don’t pick anyone between 200000 & 350000 in your starting squad – your squad should consist of proven premiums, extremely cheap players (Malceski, Hunt, Maguire) and rookies. And be careful about chosing the high end rookies. All in all a very successful 2010.
You’re spot on with that price range. About 3 players in that range cost me a ranking in the top 1000 most likely.
Waters was another very good cheap pick up at 152k
I had Waters too. Those four players, and Barlow, Rocky and Pods were the key to my high ranking.
Team Name: R.Wallach vultures
Final Ranking: 2728
League Results: WIN
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Hodge
Worst Round 1 Starter: Chadwick
Best Trade: Goodes
Worst Trade: Leon davis
What have you learnt this year: Don’t load my team with old players like chad cornes
Team Name: Team BC
Final Ranking: 2985
League Results: 3rd, Premiers, 2nd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan/Goddard tie
DT Rising Star: Dustin Martin. Provided could bench cover all season
Best Round 1 Starter: Swan/Goddard/Sandilands
Worst Round 1 Starter: Lockyer/Armitage/Hurn
Best Trade: Seaby to Cox (just before he scored 1)
Worst Trade: Hille to Seaby after round 2. I know, horrible trade
What have you learnt this year:
Do not trade early in the season, probably at least the first 5 rounds.
Two good games is not enough to trade in a dud player (ie Seaby)
Dont pick mid range players who aren’t certain starters (ie Armitage, Lockyer)
Team Name: Pav’s Paddock
Final Ranking: 4003
League Results: W W W
DT Brownlow Medalist:Swan
DT Rising Star: Rockliff
Best Round 1 Starter: Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Roberts
Best Trade: Martin for Swan
Worst Trade: Gumbleton for Watts
What have you learnt this year: To go with my gut instinct instead of players who are just named (Roberts)
Would not have been a problem for most but i also learnt i need to start my trading earlier on in the season , round 6 was too late.Apart from that i am fired up and ready for my 3rd year of dreamteam next season. Bring it on!!!
Team Name: IngloriousBasterds:
Final Ranking: 1247th
Blew out to 30,000th after stuffing up my starting rucks (Naitanui, Clark then Seaby). Most of the rest of my squad was strong so some key early upgrades like Chapman and Montagna got me back to the 1000-1500 mark where i stayed.
League Results: 6th in BF Div 3 (who gunned it this year, came 7th overall).
DT Brownlow Medalist: Dane Swan
DT Rising Star: Barlow
Best Round 1 Starter: Swan
Worst Round 1 Starter: Naitanui/Clark.
Best Trade: Roberts for Podsiadly.
Worst Trade: Seaby (jesus…), Gysberts, Gibbs, also Sylvia for his rd 21 late w/drawal donut.
What have you learnt this year: Utilise the multis more, will be crucial next year. Don’t be afraid to go against convention and wait an extra week on rookie downgrades if not sure on them, to avoid the Gysberts and Kayler-Thomson type mistakes. Money wasn’t an issue this year due to the strong rookies, could be the same next year with GC.

Best Round 1 Starter: Hodge/Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Pat Dangerfield/Armitage
Best Trade: Armstrong – Gram, right before his 127, won me top 4
Worst Trade: Ball – Pav and Mitchel – Stanton
What have you learnt this year: Rucks are useless and leave at least 4 trades for finals (4 0s in GF)
Team Name: hollys heros
Final Ranking: 19,109
League Results: lost in semi :(
DT Brownlow Medalist: SWANNYY

Worst Round 1 Starter: Gavin Urquhart / Adam Mcphee, dont even ask my why i am the biggest hack at dt haha
Best Trade: Pods to Voldt
Worst Trade: Just about all of them apart from Pods to Voldt
What have you learnt this year: Never ever pick up ROK again, whenever he is not getting tagged, he tags someone else which is stupid because him and goodes are basically the only two swans players that could average 90 over the whole season
Team Name: Ty Tentastee
Final Ranking: about 10,000th (can’t remember exactly right this minute)
League Results: 3rd/3rd
DT Brownlow Medalist: Swan

Best Round 1 Starter: Barlow probably
Worst Round 1 Starter: Relton
Best Trade: between Barlow to J Selwood (for the timing) or Ziebell to Didak
Worst Trade: Mitch Clark > Seaby or Howlett > Gysberts
What have you learnt this year: Uniques are nice but don’t ignore Sandi in the ruck. Also having DPP’s is all well and good but you need some to be in your mids & your fwds if you wanna utilise the ability (I had 4 mid/fwd DPP’s all in the fwd line at one point and none in the middle)
Team Name: Disposable Heroes

What have you learnt this year: I have learnt the ropes of proper DT. Before this year, I had no idea about dream team and now thanks to this site I think I have a pretty good understanding. Other than a few shit starting players including: Tippett, Gray, Lockyer and Clark I had a pretty good year. Unlucky not to take out the league I really wanted losing by just 29 points with Carrazzo and Fisher injured and 5 players out. But yeah thanks again for DT talk for a great year and bring on 2011!!!
Team Name: Turku Turtles

Best Round 1 Starter: Barlow
Worst Round 1 Starter: Warren
Best Trade: Round 5 Hitchcock and Gumby out, Rockliff and Pods in.
Worst Trade: Out Howlett in Gysberts
What have you learnt this year: I have to stop this game from completely taking over my life!
I want to hear a season summary song!! ;)
I’ll have to see what I can do.
Lessons learned
- do not pick players as premiums at the start of the year who are good but not awesome. Your starting premiums have to be the super premium players. Guys like ROK, Higgins, Gia and even Pav are only going to leave you disappointed. Much better off starting the year with the real guns bc the good players just end up averaging low 90s and can be picked up at around 330K throughout the year.
- stay away from guys with Groin issues, and if they pick up a groin injury, trade them out straight away (Higgins, Brown)
- You absolutely MUST start the year with as many of the superstar guns as possible. The must haves are…. Defence= Goddard, Lake, Hodge. Midfield= Swan, Ablett, Montagna, Boyd. Forwards= Chapman, Reiwoldt, Didak, Franklin.
