The Plus Four: Round 13 (Part Two)

It’s finally over… the epic split round has come to a close and we have 5 rounds left now to scramble towards the Dream Team finals. Let’s have a look at the round just gone and the round coming up on this Monday with Warnie’s +4.

It’s finally over… the epic split round has come to a close and we have 5 rounds left now to scramble towards the Dream Team finals.

BACK TO NORMAL… SORT OF

This week we’re back to normal Dream Teaming… all of the games in one weekend. I think I like that much better. Although, there is a twist this weekend. The first game is on Thursday night between Carlton and Brisbane from Etihad. The sucky thing is that we don’t have a partial lockout to help us. We’ll not know all of those final Sunday teams for Gellong, North Melbourne, Richmond, Sydney, St Kilda and Melbourne. Ouch. Make sure you get yourself organised at about 6pm AEST to have your team updated. In the past we have stressed about the server going down… but after having no problems in Round 1, Virtual Sports have it sorted. So don’t panic!

LOSING SOME BIG GUNS

Who else locked in Jimmy Bartel as their captain on the weekend? I did and was pretty happy with his comeback to get 94. I had two cracks at my captaincy and didn’t get 100 from either of them (Hodgey last week, Bartel this week). The worry now is with Jimbob’s elbow that hyperextended on Friday night. Fingers crossed he will be right to play. Watching him on that Channel 7 Game Day show, I am thinking he’ll have a week off. Get back in there Jizz-berts!

Those who have the relatively unique gun in Steve Johnson will be sweating over the tribunal. He’ll go… and he’ll go good I reckon. I’m tipping at least 2 weeks. His carry over points aren’t going to help him much.

HOPE YOU DIDN’T GET GREEDY!

For those who were able to use the loophole and went with Buddy, Barlow or Sandi, best answer was to take those scores. It was interesting this week that the highest player score of the round was 134 from Nick Dal Santo and Lenny Hayes. Not thumping 150+ scores like we’d seen in the last few weeks. Back to normal DT scoring really. Lenny would have been a great pick as he was Calvin’s #2 pick. If you had a 120+ score last week with your VC, it would have been bad DTing to risk it with anyone else. The big guns in Swan and Ablett could ‘only’ manage 110 and 114 respectively.

TRADES ARE LIKE GOLD

It’s going to be interesting over the next few weeks to see what kind of scores people will be pumping out. So many people have ‘finished’ their teams now… they maybe have a coupe of players who they’d like to upgrade, but are sitting on their 5 or so trades. The one or two week injuries will pop up – including those terrible late withdrawals (yes, James Kelly – you’re one of them). This will test benches… which for some, are becoming non-existent! I wonder what the average amount of trades left is? Vote in the poll below to get a bit of an idea of what people have left!

It’d be nice to have a heap left, because of the whole injury/suspension issues we will have over the next few weeks but as well, we could have milked a few of our cows a little longer and jumped on some of the falling premiums. None gets bigger than Ablett who wsn’t far off $450K.

OUR LEAGUE IS HEATING UP

Personally, I was pumped to get a win this week over former world number one, Jonathon. A solid 39 point victory was handy as a fair bit of smack was spoken by the Collingwood supporting Canadian. Our league goes pretty well, but we only had 5 guys get of 2000. Pretty average scoring round for us this week. Here’s how our crew are doing.
