hey mate i wouldnt do that trade you have to see which ruckmen he has come up against the last month. last week he dominated only because hille went down and ryder had to do the rest if not all the ruck work in the second half.
So u reckon play 1 short for 2 weeks as i only have warnock and lobbe on my bench.
wat about downgrading higgins and upgrading playfair as i will be playn to short otherwise

first huge score was against hawthorn who are gonna have to start keeping an eye on the crowds and whoevers tallest on the day gets to play in the the hawthorn ruck and win a meatpie
and then again against essendon with hille going down ryder just had too much to do and they managed to share 40 or so hitouts each
wouldnt get mumford in on the back of those results and with seaby coming back mumford will probably average 75 for the year. not too bad for a 2nd ruck but u can do better

With Hille only being out around 2 weeks i can see the point in not trading him. But with no cover with Warnock and Bass on the bench i am thinking of 3 choices
1- keep Hille and downgrade Warnock to Stanley or a cheap ruckman, who can cover Hillie’s absence
2- trade Hillie to Cox
3- cop the donut

The way I see it you have 3 choices. You can either cop the donut and hope you win. If you are going for the Car, then I would not advise this. You can’t afford to miss out on points that a ruckman will get you. But in your league you could go and do what.
You can also downgrade a bench player. Have you thought of Warnock to Stanley or O’Keefe?
Or, you could upgrade Hille. He can be turned into Cocks or with a bit more money you can buy Patrick Rider who gets big scores somtimes.
They are your options. Good luck in deciding.

My view is never trade out an Essendon Bomber – they always come good. I kept Hille all last year and Ryder was on the bench.
hille never played after round 5 last year and was ruled out 110% until 2010. there was no sense in keeping him. just like the only sense in keeping hille now with so many possible upgrades is if ur too low on trades. his average is hugely inflated after that game against richmonds little league aus kick ruckmen

so im considering going Hillie to either cox, kreuzer (who is averaging the same as cox and is 30k cheaper) or even mitch clark who is finding some form

maguire is out for a month so that rules that out, and kennelly has been listed as 1 week/test (whatever that means). u could do the double trade, but it depends on how many trades you want to leave yourself towards the later part of the season.
u should upgraded tippet to krezer or cox

I don’t care what other people say… he has averaged around 100 for the last 6 years or something rediculous like that. He is a super star. He’s having a shit year and he’s still one of the best scoring ruckman.
If he gets into form he could potentially score HUGE and be a bargain at 368k.
An easy choice if your other options are Kruiser, Mumford etc. Ryder is worth considering but is very expensive

Mate, i have had Waite from the start with P.Davis re DPP.
Had shit start with him getting dropped then suspended, but has shown some really good signs over last couple of games.
Will score well cause he takes lots of marks, and now playing forward a bit he is kicking goals too. Am hoping/expecting him to average 95-100 for rest of year.

Very clever with the use of DPP.. I’m still not sold on Waite given his ruthless antics with reports and what-not but could pay off nicely as a unique. Then I think Gilbert is the logical choice over Sam Fisher.. just a star.

Depends on what u want mate, but have few options for you. All involved trading out Maguire (who is the most long term and unknown of your injured players).
1) Grimes, ave 84.5, $326600, had few quiet games BUT has the ability to score big. Leaves you with about 76K in the bank, which i reckon u need as you dont have much cash on bench to use 4 upgrades.
2) Kelly, ave 91.3, $373600 (leaves you with bout 30K). Last run had a 60 so if Silvagni returns this week and Nason is picked, you could do this in 2 weeks for a lot lower price. Bound 2 get more midfield time in 2nd half of year as Cats rest some players.
3) Gilbert, ave 100, $392600 (10K in bank). Go all out and buy a gun.
All can be done in 1 trade with Maguire out.
OR you can do nothing and hope that Silvagni and Nason both play.

Im thinking about benching Hille for a round, trengove can play.
My dad’s main aim is to win his league, his is a big cash league. Should he upgrade gumbleton to didak? He is playing tough competition and we will need the points. especially if gumbleton is playing geelong (he got 17 last time). And when higgins comes back use rockliff as a benchman. or downgrade option.
And do you think this is the best move overall. Im totally stumped. 9 trades and 90k

The fact Howlett got dropped last week (only came in to replace Stanton), seems to show that he probably won’t play for a while. Bombers have had a few comeback, and still more on sidelines.
I reckon take the cash from Howlett and use it later when needed.
Yeah tough call.. given that Shuey is likely to have glange it probably means his season is over considering what that can do to your fitness levels. But if your comfortable with Jizzberts as your only back-up and could use a bit of cash then trade him in for Howlett. Howlett probably won’t play much more this season as the Dons have a fair few to come back in and he wasn’t mentioned by Knights as someone in the mix for the Geelong game this week.
so this dylan mcneil….. is he worth getting in for howlett? i got moles on the bench as mid cover and he looks like getting games with aker out hopefully. i need sum quick cash and figured trading this cheapo in helps with the DPP. i think gysberts is good and will likely play and will be good cover but u can make so much more money with dylan and his DPP may come in handy a bit later on in the season…

Only because fwds have been inconsistent I’d be looking at def/mid dpp, again yes, as long as you have decent bench cover.(if you have Chappy, then Mcneill could be your man!

I also think DPP is over rated, what about the plain old fashioned skill of picking a good rookie if he is DPP then bonus, but looking at half of the strange decisions you guys are willing to make purely in the pursuit of this ability… It’s crazy…

I like to Keep my Hodge and Goddards in the backline as i do my Chapman and co in the forwards.
There is so much depth in the middle to waste a spot on a DPP.
Again it boils down to luck! My nephew got “the spud,” B.Staker dpp fwd bench.
Had Leon Davis on his mid bench. So happens he got 120 & 94 when Barlow and Stanton missed!
I think people tend to overrate DPP as well, although there are instances it can be very handy, usually if it involves a bench player (e.g. the Lobbe/Tippett combo would have worked a treat if Tippett wasn’t so shit!)

Given that I’d prefer to keep Webbelery, Martin and Gumby as cover for the time being at least, there isn’t that much more $ to squeeze, which is making me lean towards option 2…but I’d love to hear others’ thoughts!
both would be a safe option but if you have the trades and the money also consider going martin to gysberts and hunt to goddard and then next week kennely to a rookie and upgrade rioli

you know what you’ll get from goddard. Even if he is on 10 after the first qtr or even 30 at half time, he’ll gradually scratch back close to 100. not so sure on gilberts ability to get back in a game to that degree.
You’ll pay for goddard.. but note, this would be the cheapest he’ll be for the season. (not including past weeks).
He is only a couple thousand dollars more expensive than his starting price from a couple of poor rounds earlier. A 10-20k increase next round isn’t out of the question.
Whether your team is a bit unbalanced and you’d need the extra cash to take a risk and hopefully get a better rounded team, go for it. But if you lock in goddard, its definetly one less spot you need to worry about for the rest of the year.
If you have enough trades, perhaps Gilbert, but depends on your fwd upgrade options! Average wise, Goddard & Rioli vs Gilbert & your intended upgrade could be much of a muchness?!

The only way I can get Goddard is to go Kennelly > 77K rookie, so I’d be squeezing every last cent.
If I went for Gilbert this week, I’d probably look at downgrading Phil Davis then going Rioli > Pav in the following week or two.
So in a way it’s Gilbert + Pav and having 7 trades left
or Goddard + Rioli and having 9 trades left (I could still upgrade Rioli but it would be for a fwd <370Kish)
The point you guys make about Goddard is a good one though, I wouldn't be worried about a bad game!
i currently have bernie vince sitting on my mid bench with gysberts on my field. in my forward line i have gray, higgins and sylvia. with 103,000 in my bank and 9trades should i
1. trade gray to brown and then vince to ablett
2. trade gray to brown and then higgins to pav/stevie j
3. just trade gray to brown and hope hitchcock is named
any thoughts would be helpful
trade number 1. Its a win/win situation and you’d lock them in for the season. That trade should give you a big smile on your face once you look over you new team aswell.
Who will be better in the next 5 weeks of dt, Thomas or Pavlich?

Pavlich has had an off couple of weeks and one would imagine a rebound back into form in the next game or two..
thomas doesnt the same scoring ceiling as pavlich IMO, but should do OK. I’d prefer to pick up pavlich, he is and will continue to be the dockers go-to man.

You’d think under the “episode post” you’d see comments related to the EPISODE. People saying if they liked it or saying it’s shit or whatever, comments on the mid-season heroes/villians… Not selfish comments with people asking how they can make their teams better… or is this just me? Time and a place for all that I reckon
There have been opinions. I think it goes without having to say it, that everyone on this site loves and appreciates the effort you lads put into this site. It definetly breaks up my day, as I get to sit down and read other peoples own DT dilemmas (and hopefully get some relative insight into my own problems).
My thoughts RE: the episode.
- the heroes and villains were good. I hope they continue as I’d like some of my backmen to disappear from the villains side and reappear in the heroes side.
- The combined chop was funny… especially warnies!
- The week of a DT addict was good, pretty true about watching matches with the scores up!
so an overall good episode.
That being said. I agree about the time and a place for comments and their proper threads.
But IMO if people have problems and need an opinion, the newest thread is the thread that is most likely to envoke a response from users. I know I rarely scroll down old threads. I don’t have a problem with questions as I enjoy sharing my thoughts on their problems.. but thats just me. However, I do get annoyed in the Game Day threads, where people post the ‘will i win?’ questions. That is selfish fodder. It doesn’t help anyone other than the user who posted. People’s questions on here tend to be common problems and have the potential to help many people. Anyway, don’t know what I’m getting at, But thanks for the site, its great. It’s the gary ablett junior of DT sites. Thumbs UP.

I can see it from both sides, and usually I get annoyed at people posting their team and being insecure etc. But that’s been me lately cos my last 2 weeks have been so SHIT that I’m questioning my coaching ability haha.
For what it’s worth the section on the DT addict was me down to a tee (even this week when I’ve got an exam to study for!) – Albert Lord is pure genius!

hey guys, i have a quick question about how to drop out of a league. My mate entered a team in our league that scores 900 average…It was an autofilled team and its ruining our leagues average. He knows the email and password for the team but how does he leave the league to make way for a better team? Its a public league so we cannot kick them

Some advice…
Would you rather;
1) Trade Hille to Sandilands & Play one of Jizzber Martin or Trengove in the midfield
or
2) Bench Hille for Jackson Trengove and Trade Jack Trengove to Boyd!
Too many trengoves!
The big sandle sure is a gun, but bear in mind Hille’s is a handy unit if fit.
Given the split round, i’d be taking two rubbish scores on Jackson Trengove and getting Boyd in there. I think you’ll do better come finals time with Hille and Boyd over Sandi and Jizz/Martin/Trengove
Would have to agree with Cuz………….Boyd & fit Hille should easily outscore Sandi & Trengove/Jizz-bits. Unless u can find way to get Sandi and Boyd (sandi should come down more this week).

I am in similar situation, have Hille & Clark (yes been very patient). Pretty sure i will go Hille to Sandi though as reckon suit my side.

M: Swan, Bartel, Stanton, Goddard, Mitchell, Barlow (Gysberts, Stevenson)
R: Hille, clark (Skipper, McNamara)
F: Chapman, Brown, Gia, ROK, Harvey, Pods, rockliff (Ballantyne, P.Davis)
Keen to get Ablett for Stevenson in 2-3 weeks, goddard then back to defence. Waite to forwards, rocky to bench and balla out for $$$. Other thought is to get Pav in and wait bit longer to get Ablett.
BUT at 4-4 in main league (with 3rd highest average 2045) i am keen not to play skipper in ruck (lose about 60pts). Am 7th and playing 8th this week.

Hodge, Goddard, Carrots, Gilbee, Waters, Maguire, Webberley (Hargrave, Hams)
I’ve been thinking for a while Maguire needs to go, now is probably as good a time as any. Although i’ve only got 7 trades and 14k. Mids bench is Armstrong, Shuey. Forward bench is Rocky, Davis
Do I:
1: Maguire –> Heath Shaw
2: Armstrong –> Jizzbot, then wait one week take a doughnut then Maguire –> Enright (BE 141, only need a 4k drop)
3. Rocky –> Cheap fwd rely on davis as bench, Maguire –> Any defender
4. Hams + Maguire –> Campbell Heath + Waite.
Too many options, none of them particularly good. Probably leaning towards 1 or 4 .
