Reset the rule book back to 2005 and make the umpires share a whistle. They can only give a free away when its their turn to dictate.
Umpiring is FUCKED these days. And the rules for that matter. No defined rules like back in the day. Now it depends on how the umpire is feeling and interprets a rule.
Lenny Hayes laid a solid tackle on Murphy or Gibbs I think, umpire gave him a free and a 50m penalty. I’m glad the cheap shots from behind and the attempted spoils collecting the player in the side of the face have dissappeared, but when you can’t tackle, that’s a worry
Whilst I agree that the tackling rule is a bit overboard, I’m pretty sure that what most people and certainly the commentators missed on Monday night, was that the umpire paid a holding free kick against St. Kilda in the middle and a split second after the whistle Lenny made the forceful tackle which resulted in a 50 metre penalty…his tackle wasn’t awarded a free kick, just that it came after the prior free kick had been paid.
So provided the free kick was taken by the player who was initially held (can’t recall if that was the case) then the correct decision was made for the late Lenny tackle being 50 metres.

Corey played the first four games this year, but a knee that Balme calls “a bit grumbly” has since kept him out of the team.
The Cats want to ensure the knee settles and Corey is right for the business end of the season.
“We’ve got to take the pressure off him, we’d rather him not try to play through it, because then it does become a chronic issue,” Balme said.

Sooooo..I had been passing all my DT knowledge on last week to a mate who is knew to the caper this year and had already gone against my sage advice by 1./ getting Kerr in at the start 2./ trading on Mondays and brought in Trent West last week lol. And I was telliing this mate how my team ‘DREAMTEAM FAIL’ was primed for a 2200 especially with my boom recruit Duffield.
Well, much like Roys team my guns were firing blanks and i barely made 2k thanks to Ablett as C and whats more, lost my first league game to a guy who busted out 2165.
1 week on and i may finally have a full side in if Mitchell can get on the park. Please! Isn’t that why I picked him as my lock prem at the start, cos he never misses games!? And hopefully the great disappointment, Buddy will be back. I’m a Hawks fan and seriously..Buddy..what happened to the player who played the game and was having 14 shots at goal and occasionly getting it right and converting 9? Honestly feel that his career is looking like Trav Cloke. Buddy play in front, stop pushing in the back, tackling after the ball is disposed of, wrestling and whining for free kicks and go get the ball!! Should dominate!

I reckon Stevenson from WCE looks a good downgrade option. Cheap, playing well, and should get his third game this week. Hard to go past Swan as an upgrade if you’ve got the cash. Look at Bryce Gibbs if you want someone cheaper.
What an absolute joke that Mumford got 2 weeks for his tackle on Ablett. Ablett is an expert at getting the arms free and handballing when tackled, you’ve got to make sure he doesn’t do that if you have the chance. AFL is still a great game, no-one wants cheap shots or guys getting their heads smashed, but decisions like this one, and some of the HTB and hands in the back decisions are just ludicrous. I reckon Demetriou just wants more frees, more goals, so there are more ad breaks and he can get a higher price for selling the TV rights. (rant finishes)
Being a WCE I’ve watched the two games stevenson has played and wasn’t impressed at all. May have gotten a few DT points but wasn’t playing good D at all. just wondering how accurate the ffgenie thing is? it says that in 3 rounds dean cox’s price will be dropping significantly…but that doesn’t seem likely to me
Mate, you must remember the ffgenie “thing” is based on the players current average. From memory his price is about 390K (which is equivalent to average about 95), but his current average is just above 80.
They will assume he keeps scoring his average, but it is far more likely he will average between 95 -100, and therefore stay much the same in price (or maybe go up a bit more).

I’m a WCE supporter and watched his two games so far. Wasn’t impressed at all. Might of got a few DT points but played crap defense on Peterson. With Butler, Selwood, embly, shuey, sheppard, Brown and strijk doing well in the WAFL I wouldn;t think he will stay in the team very long

Couple of weeks ago I would of said trade Gumby out but they’ve had similar avg over the past 3 or 4 weeks. I think Gumby still has some price rise but am unsure about Balla. II was really keen on Balla at the start of the year and have him in my team but am starting to lose the faith a bit.

Read the article dickhead, Pods is being promoted as the ‘Rookie who can stay on the senior list’ so it’s actually a good news article for Pod owners. But since you only read the first four lines, I’d recommend you trade him out now before he get’s dropped in round 13.
