Why should I pick him?
I don’t know who is taking a bigger risk, the Lions picking Fevola, or you putting him in your Dream Team. Fevola is not a player I would traditionally look at, however I am here to look at the upside, and it is pretty easy to find a lot of positives. Last year was Fevola’s best DT year of his career. He averaged 89 which is a good score for any forward and he contributed many match winning scores including 4 scores over 130. This year he will not be the sole focus of the backline which could free him up for some 1 on1 as opposed to the 2 on 1 he received most weeks at the Blues. If you look closely at his top scores last year, a lot of his big ones came from the 1 on 1 contests. Similar to the blues, the lions will give him some great delivery with the likes of Simon Black and Daniel Rich spoon feeding him. If Fevola is serious about growing up, he has the potential to kick 80-100 goals and improve his dream team average by avoiding his 30 point “immature sooky” games.
Why shouldn’t I pick him?
Its Felvola. There is a big chance that his new approach is going to turn out like his last 5 “fresh starts”. Jonathan Brown is the go to man, he is a proven player under pressure and has a cool head. This automatically makes Fevola the second option in the eyes of Brisbane’s streaking midfield. How many weeks will Fevola take to get sick of this and have his 30 point dummy spit game? Bradshaw is good enough to kick 70-90 goals in a team as the number 1 option, but succeeded as a player who was willing to support Brown and kick 50-60. Can Fevola take a back seat some times this year, yet still contribute on the DT score board?
Final thoughts.
I hate him, only because I go for he blues and now we have Henderson as a straight swap. Ripped off! Anyway, for some reason, I am slightly considering it . It will be quite a unique pick because he is a power forward that plays deep and will come with a price tag, but I think those 30 point games may well be a thing of the past. Brown likes playing up the ground, so I think Fevola will still kick his goals. If Fevola starts to sook, I think Browny will let him have it. At this stage I am a definite no, however, enjoy considering the possibility.

Yeah, good shout. Voss, Brown and Ranga Monster Merritt will smash Fevola if he sooks it. So that’s a positive to his scoring. Not being the focal point is the negative to his scoring. As a result his average might go down, but he could be more consistent. A 5th fwd perhaps?
Out of respect for other players in my 2010 DT, I won’t be picking him.

On the other hand, I hope he keeps up his off field antics, they amuse me
I wont be touching him, it just wont feel right with Fev in a DT. And i also cant see him improving that average, with two big forwards in a team theres always one that loses out DT wise, e.g Justin Koschitzke and Daniel Bradshaw.
Also Roughhead can be added to that list.
No Fev for me, Cant see it working in all honesty… I Think fevola will kick less goals and fade out for the remainder of his career at brisbane.

its just a bit of fun for the off season and a little bit of selection information.
I guess it’s our way of looking at a few different players (52 in fact) over the off season. We’re not a forum like BigFooty and put crap anywhere. We’re looking at interesting names… and our thoughts on them. These are written by us individually. If people want to take my advice, they can… I sure as hell won’t listen to Calvin.

His best on ground 3 vote performance against hawthorn this year, and the fact luke ball is gone has me seriously considering him for my team. Top 10 draft pick, late bloomer perhaps??

I’ve got him in my Fanplanner team.
Never thought much about him but looking at some of his stats, he might be a good pickup. The problem is there is a lot of them mid-range midfielders (300k-350k) that present good value. Palmer, Swift, Cotchin, Ziebell, Ward and Hartlett just to name a few. You can’t have them all in your team.
yeah thats that big problem, ill probly only have 2 in my team, and at this stage its looking like it might be Armitage and Swift
if ur open to suggestion could u consider doing one for David Myers and/or Callan Ward?

In all honesty the deck of dream team is an average concept.. doesnt cover the best 52 players. Just the odd random good player that we would actually consider picking(if you want to be in the top 100 this year)

We have 4 clubs each and we take it in turns to write about whatever players we want. Pretty simple concept. We’re looking at guys that spark some conversation. Seriously, it’s December/January! Some of these dudes will make you think a bit. I know most of the guys we have covered (and have coming up) are on people’s radars.
It’s AFL Dream Team Pre-Season. We’re about 100 days from the real thing starting. Have some fun. You are the ones on a Dream Team website. We’re here doing what we do. Embrace that!
At the end of the day, what we want is a little resource to see what “Roy might have thought of Fevola”, etc. Does it make you want to pick him? Does it make you put a line through him? Well, if it has made you think… then we have served our purpose!

I like to hear your opinions, which are often said in good humour (without being overly crass or abusive). We don’t have to agree with your opinions (although many will), and you don’t have to agree with anyone else’s opinions (especially if ill-considered or abusive). At this time of year we’re a little bored and are happy to do some ‘dreaming’ before we have the hard facts before us (like prices and playing condition) to consider.

God take some criticism you princess. I’ve supported this website for like 2 years constantly so don’t make out like I just plug DTF.

Darcy, we appreciate the support.
But what exactly is your criticism? “It ruins it” is hardly criticism. If you are referring that it ruins the off-season and picking players, etc… then how is that any different to any other forum going around? It’s merely our opinion and that is what this site is built on. If you mean it ruins our website, then I don’t know why. We’re looking at players who you may or may not consider for next year. What else do you do in the pre-season?
Not pissing in our own pockets or anything, but I think it’s a great idea to float some names out there… and get some opinion from whoever is writing it, and more importantly, from people who comment on the posts. There are heaps of people here who’s opinion I/we respect and makes you think.
Let us know what it is you want, but just posting a link to a forum doesn’t help that much. We’re a blog.
Loving the concept guys. It’s good to have an idea of what players other people are considering that I certainly didn’t think of when planning my team originally and I like the balanced viewpoint you guys give on each player. Its a fun thing to look at each day when we’re all waiting for the DT season (I mean AFL season) to begin.

Who gives if people dont put them in their teams, at least we get of background info on them. This site is free as well and the DT crew put a fair amount of time into this site so we should be glad that they are dong it for us.
