Deck of Dream Team 2010: Jack Ziebell
Name: Jack Ziebell
Club: Kangaroos
Position: Mid/Fwd
2009 Average/Games: 65.0/11
Predicted 2010 Average: 87
Deck of DT Rating: 8 of Diamonds
Why Pick Him?
Jack Ziebell was the 9th overall draft pick in 2008 and started for the Roos in Rd 1. Despite his average of just 65, this kid shows massive DT promise. His best score of 2008 was against Port where he had 94 and in a 4 game patch (Rd 4-7) last year he averaged a very healthy 85. His price will be set at the 65 he averaged for the year and that makes him one the the most juicest players on the market in 2010. Plus, last year Jack was named as a forward which he probably won’t this year, but if he is… it makes him mega ultra juicy.
Why Not to Pick Him?
We’ll if you didn’t know, Ziebell broke his leg in round 12 last year against the Crows and since then has had leg and hip surgery. He is fragile and this makes him one of those players that can brake at anytime. Lets hope he has been drinking his milk and bulking up. However there is some good news about all this. I’ll hand it over the Kanagroos assistant coach, Brad Scott who had this to say a few weeks ago…
“He’s been on a graduated training program and he’s back in full training now and he’s looking really strong,” Scott said. “For a second-year player, he’s amazing. He looks like he’s been in the system for about six years.”
Final Thoughts…
Lock and load, get him in! I plan to at this early stage. They say they might hold him off NAB Cup games but don’t be too worried, as Brad said he seems set for round 1 and that’s good enough for me.

Mark my words this kid will be an absolute gun, get him in your initial squad cause his price will just skyrocket.
Already locked in. With an increase in TOG this year and an increase in confidence (I watched a lot of his games last year and he was always around the packs but quite often liked to sit on the outside), he will go great guns in 2010.
i really do hope he is a forward. I could see him averaging 85+ but if hes in the midfield, would an avearge of 85 be enough to be a keeper.
If he’s named as a midfielder i’ll consider him but if he’s named as a forward i would rather have Danger as he will be cheaper and will be in his 3rd year which seems to be alot of guys breakout year.
Scott was still fat after 6 years in the system, so that statement could mean anything. Don’t tell him I said that, thou.
if he is in the forward line LOCK!
Dayne Beams is a better prospect?
I don’t think he needs to do much bulking up.
Saw him the other day he is an absolute monster. Would be one of the bigger bodied midfielders in the AFL at the moment and still only 18.
Always injured?
More midfield time…

Warnie (or anybody else), what position(s) does the Prospectus have him listed?
He’s named as a utility-med so he’s a fwd/mid in DT (guys like Sylvia, O’Keefe and Dangerfield are utility-meds too)
