Deck of Dream Team 2010: Cyril Rioli

cyrilrioliName:Cyril Rioli
Club: Hawthorn
Position: Forward (should be) maybe Mid-Fielder
2009 Average/Games: 76.2/19
Predicted 2010 Average: 96
Deck of DT Rating: Jack of Spades.

Why should I pick him?
Cyril Rioli has already made a huge impact on the game in his two years in the big league. Third year player rule therefore means that he is going to go off his face in 2010. The Hawks as an entire unit struggled last year in DT, the game of AFL proper as well as pulling hot chicks. In my opinion the Hawks would ideally love to play him more in the mid-field which simply means more DT points going up beside his name on my team list. He had a little issue last year with the ol hamstring, but he still managed to push out 19 games. Despite the fact that Cyril is a gun ith an even cooler name he managed to average 79 in his last 6 games of the ‘09 season, managing to score over 60 in all these games. So get on the Rioli Royce… gunna be big in 2010.

Why shouldn’t I pick him?
Perhaps the biggest concern for the Royce is where will the powers that be name him in terms of DT. My worry is that the big gun could possibly be named as a mid-fielder and when you put him up against the Geelong’s and the Swans of the DT world, he probably doesn’t match up… probably. He has done a  hamstrings as well which is always a concern but judging by how he was stepping when he returned in ‘09 he was back and if my legs moved that fast they would probably snap occasionally too.

Final thoughts.
If this superstar of the modern era is named in the forward line I have a feeling that he isn’t going to be  the only Hawk in the “I’m Not Happy” forward line. With an increased work load in the mid-field he will be the Brett Deledio of 2010, although that didn’t always work out that well… oh well… get him anyway.

  1. DEEEE-LISSSHHH-IOUUUSS

  2. i agree if he is a fwd. lock and load

  3. Hamstring injury worries me!

Would only consider fitting him in if he is named as a forward – Potiential to be a break out year for Cyril but he hasn’t proven himself as a premium yet.

Not a bad mid priced pick with alot of upside.

  4. Im considering him as long as he’s listed as a forward. Such a delicious player and is going to be a star of the AFL, just hope he doesn’t have any more trouble with those hamstrings of his.

  5. Alistair Clarkson said Cyril has been training away from the main group this pre- season with Osteitis Pubis concerns

  6. not feeling hawks forwards this yr. I think they r shot, why would the get better from last year? sure they had alot of injuries but they have BIG holes in their team. who are there 5-6 defenders? croad will be back croad will be back….heard that before….no ruckman….u need a decent ruckman….there finished!

  7. He will be in the foward line so no thanks. Bad Hammys is always bad

  8. Cant see him getting too much midfield time

  9. As much as i love watching him play and agree that he is a Superstar, I just dont think he can break out as a premium forward DTer. Which for his price is where you would want him to be come round 22. I two dont see him spending all that much time in the guts which I dont think is such a bad thing for him though.

    Ben.

  10. I see him being a Chapman type player. Pulls out great scores but cant trust the hammy’s. Would need a couple of years of 20 – 22 games per season to convince me he isnt.

  11. Hi, folks. My name is Frank (or MrSpock, because of my ears and my dream). I have started programming in 1985 and I work as a software developer now. I am basically both an old-school programmer (started with Pascal) and a new one (a child of the Internet era HTML, PHP) at the same time. I have basically lost a decade in the programming world. Losing the nineties is not as bad as it seems; I skipped the Windows era ;-)

My dream in life is to develop affordable space travel and space tourism. As a result I also love collecting space related photos made by both pro’s and amateurs. One of own personal problems is that I tend to become an expert of a subject very quickly, so I have to keep changing subject often in order to stay sufficiently ignorant :-) This is why I am interested in many topics and many languages. Fortunately space travel has so far proven to be so complex that it will keep my attention for a long time :-)

I’m usually more of just a lurker on the net but I’ll chime in when I feel I need to, looking forward to meeting everyone and being a part of the community! Well I won’t bore you guys and girls any longer, see you all around!

  12. ISNT FEV ALSO THE JACK OF SPADES? LOL

  13. Lock and load will propably be cheap because of injury and will almost play a full season if not injured.
