Is He “The ONE”…
Firstly, what a great heading I have created here. In our DT TALK league (558226) we have a guy called Dave who coaches his team called The ONE… and although he is not ‘the one’ yet, he is our league leader and is sitting 9th overall.
But this week in AFL Finals we only have 4 teams playing causing huge selections issues on your table for this week. For me though Swanny is back and will proudly captain Team Calvinator this week.

The ONE and the Rest
He’s sitting 9th overall in the entire world and last week posted a HUGE 2,227. Eyeing off the main prize of $500 free bet from sportingbet.com.au he had a few ‘roughie’ picks with the like of Gilbee 119, Carrazzo 117 and Porplyzia 108 standing tall for him last week, which I reckon is the key to Finals DT as most people just pick the same players. The guns if you like. He had a few players flop on him though… Brian Lake 73 and Lovett 59 let him down but the biggest one that hurt him was Pendlebury (10). OUCH! Currently in 2nd place in the DT TALK league we have Hocking Tigers who are coached by Brad and just behind him we have the dark knighta coached by Michael snapping at his heals. As for me… well I’m ranked a shithouse11,408 but with the new scoring system in Finals DT, I might just need this crap thing to help me out…
New Scoring System
Yep… we hate it but what can you do?? Stick with it. Firstly it’s not a new scoring system it’s the same one they have used in the DT Finals in the past, we’re not fans of this but it does sorts keep everyone in it! If you didn’t know… this week all your players will score DOUBLE POINTS and your captain will score QUADRUP-IT-AL yep that’s a word! And then … next week it triple or something like that. Just pick player you think will score shitloads and you can’t go wrong!
Swanny = V8’s #1
Now, I have had Dane in my team from Rd.1 and last week I thought, “you’re dropped” ha ha yep, dropped Swanny for finals. Anyway, worked ok and this week… he’ll be back and this is why. Swanny averages a nice 105 Vs the Crows in his last 4 and has scored 7×100+ scores in his last 8 games Vs them. He had 103 in his last and this one is at the MCG and Swanny loves that!

Scoring System: Doesn’t reward people who consistently perform, just those who kill it in the GF. Why not just use the normal scoring system which has worked so well in normal DT?

Thoughts on Scoring System this week: I’m not as negative as most other people and i still think it is important to consistantly perform well. I scored 2021 and am a big 244 points behind the 1st place on 2265. Which means I have to catch up 122 standard scoring points this week. And even in the GF when the points are quadripled then he will have a 61 standard scoring points advantage. I hope people follow what I mean by that otherwise I look like an idiot =p

Thoughts on Scoring System this week: seeing i had an average week last week it could just work in my favor if i get my team right
The scoring system is definately not fair. What will most likely end up happening is the person with the best score in the last week will win, therefore making the first three games a waste. very odd…
Great points guys. BUT… I’m hearing what Timmas is saying! The further this game goes on… the easier it is to claw back a lead. One big week and BANG your back in it. Exciting for me who is miles off the pace and yeah it does keep me interested.
Another note is… the further this goes, the more ‘likely’ it is that people have more similar players as there is less to choose from, maybe thats another reason why they do it.
But yeah… not a fan for the guys leading.. big fan for those who sucked week 1.. pffth
has got to be Vince for captain this week!

Thoughts on Scoring System this week: My first week sucked, so I love it!
It’s only a bit of fun with a crap prize so I like the scoring system. Keeps everybody interested until the GF when the captain scores a lazy 8x. 1000 points just from one player. Sweet.
Westy, a $500 free bet is not a crappy prize. Could put that on Hawthorn to make the 8 next year at $1.80 and turn it into $900 and something dollars cold hard cash!
Will, I actually meant the Official AFL one, which sucks, not the very impressive free bet.
Not going to waste it on the Hawks though. Sticking it all on whoever the Eagles get at pick 7 for the Rising Star!
@Will No not $900. You wont get the $500 outlay. You will win $400. AND you will have to turn that over again before you are allowed to withdraw it. But still I’d love a free $500 bet!
Swan is a bad captain choice, he has been off for the last 3-4 weeks and hasnt cracked a tonne in 3 weeks….
Big big Vince for me.. getting shit loads of it and Thompson and Goodwin get more attention then Vince….

Swan is struggling as are many of his collingwood mates, the 152 davis,didak and lockyer managed last week cost me quite badly, I’m putting the kiss of death on Swan!!!!

its not the same as in normal dt.
it just says remove player no option to captain or bench

james-If you go to your league page, then back into the team page, it will give you a regular view where you can choose a captain and vice as normal.
vanno…au contraire . the first three weeks are important. the grand final is possibly the least important as their is only two teams to choose from , so the score variance will be little. so even though it will be multiplied by four, you will need to be right in the mix before then.
Calvin, you have the biggest man-crush on Swanny. Don’t deny it.
