Blaming Calvin… or  “Bloody awesome shit Vin”

swan125In an article written on the AFL website this week. I read how people click on my picks just so they can blame me ha ha… good luck! Won’t be happening cause my picks (usually) are the best picks in Australia and I know everything… eeeww and I’m modest! Last week I just studied my top 6 andreally you couldn’t go wrong with those dudes. This week I’m back to my old school method as this way also helps you with betting at sportingbet.com.au where I cashed in shotloads on the weekend. I’ve been getting on the players that they put head to head or the trio’s… some obvious ones which you can cash in with easy!!

scr21Oh here I have my secret ladder… It shows you the teams in the AFL that allow opposition players 100+ scores over the last 3 weeks.  Melbourne is the on here that stands out as the team that has only allowed 3×100+ scores in the last 3 weeks, but overall they are ranked poorly. Work that out (they’ve played crap teams).

But as always the gun teams in St Kilda, Sydney, Port Adelaide, Carlton and Geelong are still proving to be tough cookies to score 100+ scores on.

Let’s get into the good stuff… Oh and for those new guys out there… Ablett – 113 below means he averages 113 Vs the WBD in his last 3 games Vs them…. righteo!

WesternDawgs Vs Geelong

Ablett – 113
Corey – 106
Chapman – 96
Brad J – 94
Selwood – 93
Bartel – 88
Stevie J – 88
Boyd – 78
Cooney – 67

Ok here we go. Boyd averages 78 here in his last 3 games Vs the Cats but they are the only team int he AFL that he has not yet scored 100+ on in his career of 11 games. Ouch! Cooney gets a gig here as he is going ok, averaging 100 in his last3 this year, but I still think he is a poor excuse for a Brownlow medalist! Brad Johnson has been going off his rocker!! Averaging 112 in his last 3 this year and a surprising 97 for the season this old boy is still going strong AND… he hasn’t missed a game, who else can say that? Keep it up BJ! Although Chapman has missed the last 2 I thought I’d mention him in case he plays (so check that before you click). The Dawgs are his 2ndfavourite team in the AFL (behind Melb) and averages a solid 96 in his last 3 here and just might go off here! Bartel plays his 3rd worst team this week in the Dawgs and averages a low 88 Vs them here in his last 3. Last time he played them he only had 69, which is his equal 2nd worst score in DT in 2 years. That day he had just 16d and he has only done worse than that 3 times in his last 54 games. Surely Jimmy is set for a huge one this week looking to bounce back. Watch him to explode, but stay clear just to be safe. Selwood averages 93 here but only scratched up a tiny 69 last week so I’m looking at these other guys this week. Joel Corey averages a massive 106 in his last 3 Vs the Dawgs with previous scores of 109, 91, 116, 120 in his last 4 games Vs them. He knocked up a massive 139 last week making him the 3rd highest scorer for the round… just behind the 2nd highest scorer.. Gazza Ablett!! He bounced back last week after some poor numbers (71, 92) but his numbers here are mega impressive. With previous scores of 116, 92, 130 Gazza must be on your radar this week!
CATS AT ETIHAD- Love it love it… In their last 3 games there the boys average the following… Selwood 120, Ablett 119, Chapman 113 (151 in his last there), Stevie J 112 (132 in his last there), Bartel 108 (137 in his last there) and Corey 106.
LAST TIME THEY MET- Rd. 9, 2009. Geelong won by 2pts after BJ missed the shot after the buzzer. Aker had 122 (25d) and BJ had 122 (26d, 10m). Boyd had 93 and Corey 109. Ablett was tagged late by Boyd but still managed 38d (68% of them in handballs). Selwood had 110 (tagged by Ward) and Chapman had 75 (15d, 2g). Jimmy Bartel had those 16d for his 69 and did not get tagged!! Oh and the Pink Pig tagged Cooney. Red on Red (yuck)!!
FRIDAY CAPTAIN? – He he he, Roy hates this… remember a Friday night captain can make or break your weekend… just reminding you!!

Carlton Vs Melbourne

Judd – 101
Marc – 90
Gibbs – 81
Davey – 59

Not too much here. Juddy looks the best with his average of 101 and does have scores of 112 and 107 in his last 2 Vs them. But the Juddstar has only scored 1×100+ score in his last 9 games this year. Marc Murphy had a nice 126 last week and has averaged 109 in his last 5 this year and is running hot. Gibbs‘ average of just 81 is only from the 2 games he has played against them which consists of 114 and48, but those scores were both back in 2007. He is averaging 110 in his last 3 this year and will surely pump out a solid 100+ Vs the Dees here!
DEES LOCKING THEM DOWN - Well yeah they actually are! In the last 3 weeks they have held Fremantle, Kangaroos and Richmond to just 3×100+ scores between them all. Impressive, despite the lack of wicked players in those teams.

Adelaide Vs West Coast

Thompson – 121
Goodwin – 112
Priddis – 106
Edwards – 95

Scottie Thompson take a bow. Averaging a huge 121 in his last 3 games Vs the Eagles he has posted previous scores of 153 in his last game (WOW) and 118, 92 after that. In 2008 West Coast were easily his favourite team to play DT wise. Watch out for him to mad again, who will stop him?… umm but… he has only had 1×100+ score in his last 6 this year, that worries me a little. I’ll still bet on him he he. Goodwin averages 111 here mainly thanks to a massive 161 he had on them 2 games back where he had 24d, 13m, 7g. Priddis has only had scores of 54 and 91 in his last 2 at AAMI, but averages good numbers Vs the Crows. 123, 91, 104 are his last 3 games Vs them from the only 3 games he has played on them in his short career, pretty impressive! No captains for me here… maybe gamble instead!

Brisbane Vs Port Adelaide

Mitch Clark – 103
Chad Cornes - 94
Jonno Brown – 89
Kane Cornes - 76

Mitch Clark’s 103 here comes from just the 1 game here, but he does average 110 in his last 7 this year, so based on form alone he may be an option for you. Not me. Jonno Brown averages 89 but stunk it up last time these guys met, with Carlile toweling him up. He scored just 55 from 10d and 2 goals. Before that he went 107, 106, 111, surely he’s due to bounce back this week. The Lions are Kane’s 2nd worst team DT wise. With previous scores of 81, 87, 61, 71 Kane will struggle again. Chad on the other hand has scored 103, 129 in his last 2 Vs the Lions and averages a solid 94 in his last 3. But with 0×100+ scores in his last 10 games this year, I’m actually wondering why my 2 fingers are bothering typing about him.
WHY SUCK SO MUCH KANE? We’ll everytime he plays the Lions he tags Simon Black andfor some reason with all his attention on Blackie, Kane can not findthe ball himself. Kane will stink it up again, but in sportingbet he will be placed head to head with another Lion gun and I’ll be all over it, you don’t have too, but old V8 here is!!!
LAST TIME THEY MET – Rd. 14, 2009. Brownie had that 55 and Kane (81) did shut down Black (68). Chad DNP and Mitch Clark had 20d for his 103.

Richmond Vs Hawthorn

Delids – 105
Mitchell – 104
Hodgey – 101
Cousins – 99
Buddy – 98
Sewell  -66

Brad Sewell has never scored over 100+ Vs the Tigers in his career of 5 games so cross him off. DT Talks own, Luke Hodge has previous scores of 85, 119, 99 here but the big fella has only 2×100+ score against his names out of the 17 games he has played this year! Buddwood has slipped back to his rubbish just averaing 80 in the last 3 games this year. With previous scores of 120, 58, 115, 93 Vs the Tigers Buddy might be ok here. In his last games Vs the Tigers he kicked 3.6g, 11m. If his kicking boot is on it could be nasty. Sam Mitchell has very good and very consistent numbers here such 105, 87, 119, 133, 93, 96 in his last 6. His last 2 scores at the MCG of 111 and 120 andthe fact that the Tigers are giving up a lot of 100+ scores in the last 3 weeks might give Sammy a small chance this week of going mad with another 100+ score of his own. Delids is a massive option I reckon here. Averaging 105 and scoring 125, 120, 69 (69 way back in ‘06) in his last 3 games, Delids is looking ok. He has scored 3×100+ scores in his last 4 games this year and lets not forget the Hawks have given up the MOST 100+ scores over the last 3 weeks and the MOST for the year so far and in 2008, the Hawks were Brett’s favourite team to play! Might get nasty but this game is a touch too unpredictable for me.
WATCH THE TAG- Jackson will tag and McGlynn will tag someone too. On the radar for Jackson must be Riolli or Sam and for McGlynn it’s gotta be Cousins or Delids I reckon.

St Kilda Vs Kangaroos

Voldt – 111
Montagna – 101
Santo – 92
Harvey – 88
Hayes – 85
Goddard – 78
H. Mac – 64

Here we go with the Sainters. Nah lets go the Roos first. Harvey has not scored 100+ on the Saints in his last 9 games so expect a shit day out for him andwith H-Mac scoring under 100 in his last 4 this year, to go with the Saints losing last week andput that with this very long sentence…. the Roos are in for a tough day, pheew! Lenny Hayes has scored 114, and 108 in his last 2 Vs them but his 32 he had Vs them back in ‘06 effects his average here so ignore it a bit, it really should be 111 in his last 2. Goddard got the Chop last week off my mate Chopper for his pathetic 66 and he had 95 the week before that. His previous scores Vs them go 46, 83, 106 and that 46 in the worst score he has had in 2 years! Dal Santo averages 92 here in his last 3 and in his last Vs them he racked up 110. BUT… that 110 is the only 100+ score he has had on these guys in his career of 10 games (note: he does have 2×99’s in there too). Leigh Montagna is dominating 2009 and his lowest score this year is just 85! Find someone to match that!! With previous scores of 100, 82, 120 this consistent jet is a chance for you again this week. But here we have Nick Voldt! Gun gun gun!!! In his last 2 games Vs the Roos he has had 120 and 128. In those 2 games he averaged 12m!! This guy is going off and after missing that kick last week against the Bombers, Voldt will be out to set things right and I’m tipping another HUGE game from him here.
SAINTERS AT ETIHAD- Umm yeah, they love it! In there last 3 at Eti, they average the following… Voldt 119 (sold yet?), Santo 116, Hayes 115, Montagna 108 andGoddard the same with 108. Pretty good from the big boys hey!!!
LAST TIME THEY MET- Rd. 11, 2009. Voldt top scored with 120 with only 1 goal (sold yet?) Lenny had 114 (32d), Santo was tagged by Rawlings for his 110 (26d) and Montagna got tagged by Power for his 100. H-mac had 73 and Harvey DNP. But the thing here to note is Goddard got tagged as well by Firito and was shut down to that dirty 46.

Collingwood Vs Sydney

Swan  -126
Kirk – 118
Didak  -111
Jude – 96
ROK – 93
Pendlebury – 90
Goodes – 87
Leon – 57

Brett Kirk loves playing the Pies?? Apparently so. with previous scores of 123, 100, 131, 109, 62 and 116 Kirky is playing his favourite team in the AFL. He hasn’t scored over 100 in his last 6 games this year. But if he is ever going to break that drought, it has to be this week!!! ROK had a huge huge 149 last time he played these guys. Before that he went 77 and 54 (which of course stuffs his average). Didak killed the Swans last time! He had a huge 141 and before that he had 123 and then 69, averaging 132 in his last 2 against them! On fire, Didak has averaged 118 in his last 3 games this year and this one is back at the MCG where he has averaged 106 in his last 2 there. You got Didak?? Why not this week!  Leon Davis has never scored over 100 in his career of 10 games Vs the Swans and will struggle again I hope, especially after he turned down a DT intro when Warnie approached him last time we were in Melb. Pendlebury hurt his knee last time these guys met where he scored 0. So I ignored that cause “that would f%#k his average Tony”  (12th man he he).  Then we have Swanny! Oh my god! How can you not love this lads. This is why you give the C to Swanny this week. He averages 126 on the Swans in his last 3, plus he is at the MCG where he averages the same (126) in his last 3. With previous scores of 127, 122, 130 Swanny is about to do it again. He is going for his 13th 100+ score in a row this year and has knocked up 30d a huge 80% of the time this year. Sold yet?? C’mon… what more do you need.
CAPTAIN Vs SWANS- Usually a no go. But as I said last week, Ablett was a concern but some dudes, like Gary, love playing them and averages HUGE numbers on them. He had 141 last week and that means Swannywill not struggle, so I will be ignoring the rule again like I said last week with Gary, so click away Swan fans.
LAST TIME THEY MET- Rd. 12, 2009. Pies won by 23. Didak killed them with 34d and 2 goals and in that 34d he had a massive 29k, I can’t see the Swans letting him do that again. They did try to tag him, but failed though. Didak could be your man. Swan had 127 (29d, 9m, 5t), Jude 101, Jolly 102, Leon 89 and was tagged by Jack!!! ROK had a massive 149 with 41d, 2g and Kirky had 123. Huge scoring game and at the MCG, things might just be the same again!!!!

Fremantle Vs Essendon

Pavlich – 117
Watson – 95
Stanton – 71

Where’s Prismall V8? Good question but he has never played against Freo… true! Watson gets a gig after he topped all scores last week with 146! But that’s it. Ready for Pav? His last scores Vs the Bombers go… get ready… 81, 103, 168, 113 … I’ll keep going… 116, 112, 115, 81… there’s more … 110, 92, 108 and 104. That’s a massive 9×100+ scores in his last 12 games Vs them making them his FAVOURITE team in the whole AFL. His last scores at SUBI go 70, 136, 127 at an average of 111. If you are ever going Pav captain, it’s this week!
I’M GOING BROUGHTON V8- ha ha you silly knobbers! Fancy people saying that to me last week. You pay big bucks for the big boys to get the big job done. Don’t play around!!
LAST TIME THEY MET- Rd 2, 2009. Essendon won by 38. Pavlich managed 81, Watson 83 and Stanton was tagged by Dodd for his 67.

swan21

After going Swanny last week for his 125, I’ll be going him again this week! Good luck to everyone in the Prelim’s hope that something here has helped you. V8 Out! Vin vin vin…. Sorry for no mention either Kirky (I tried to squeeze you in brother)… got away with two KOD though!!!

  1. i might take a punt on chappy this week… (if he’s back from injury)

    otherwise, swanny.

  2. Didak for me – has potential to knock up 130+ easily. VC is out of Roo, Pav or Clark.

  3. v8 im trading cross for my do or die class this weekend iv got 402700 to play with who should i pick? my favsies are marc , lenny, joel corey and maybe scott thompson as a smokie to get me over the line

  4. Vin, can you do me a big favour?
i wanna roughie capt this week and i think Sandi will make the Ess ruck division yip especially without ryder so can you please help me with Sandis scores?

  5. nick voldt for me this week. either pav or sam mitchell for the vc, but let’s face it, what are the chances voldt will miss? need him to get a massive score in this crucial match.

also, it should be kissES of death, coz last time i checked thompson and lids were two different players.

  6. I got both Pavlich and Didak and dont know who to pick :S HELP ME

  7. whens the last time a swans, eagles, kangas or melbourne player was in the top 5, come to think of it? must’ve been ages

  8. On your secret ladder wheres essendon, it might help to chose between didak and pav

  9. V8 I appreciate your work on the secret ladder but you forgot ESSENDON!!!

  10. Can’t get of the SWAN TRAIN!!! Next Stop, DT Premiership, Next Stop, Brownlow, Next Stop, AFL Premiership, Next Stop, Normsmith and FINAL STOP Finals DT Premiership and $500 free bet thanks to SWANNY!!!

    Good Job Calvin.

  11. A woman was shopping in the local supermarket where she selected a quart of milk, eggs, a carton of juice, and a package of bacon. As she unloaded her items at the cash register to pay, a drunk standing behind her in line watched her place the four items on the belt and stated with assurance: “You must be single.”

The woman looked at the four items on the belt, saw nothing unusual about her selection and said: “That’s right. How on earth did you know?”

He replied: “Because you’re frickin’ ugly.”

  12. what about sandilands versus dons ruck minus hille and ryder??? a chance to get his usual 40+ hitouts against weak rucks???

  13. Anyone else thinking about Buddy VS Richmond or Fevola VS Carlton?

I think I will stick to the more consistent Riewoldt Vs Nth Melbourne, or maybe Montagna, or if it gets to hard I’ll just lock in Swan and blame (or thank) Calvin.

    Great article

  14. WTF I should have said Fevola VS Melbourne, he has averaged 123 over the last 3 weeks and 106 over the last 6 weeks.

  15. I’ll be going Swan over Ablett this week to get the job done. But i’ll probably lose sleep over the decision until Friday :)

    Thankyou Calvin once again.

  16. If both Anthony and Davenport are named who should I choose to play? I’m leaning towards Davenport but he’s coming back from injury and his average isn’t as good.

Oh and another selection dilema, Suban or Hill? I know it’s bad for me to still have them both but I ran out of trades.

  17. Andy – I’d be going Lenny, but Scottie T is a nice roughie but his form isnt great, go lenny, so safe.. I like JC too

Turkish – roughie Captain…??…Didak, Pav, Deledio is may man I reckon he go BANG

Oh shit and ESSENDON have given up 12 ranking them equal 5th on the secret ladder

  18. Montagna this week :D

  19. Feveola has had 3 consectuive 110+ scores and still doasnt get an mention come on calvin bring in the big fevola

  20. I’m bringing in Swan this week for Anthony, so I’ll be putting a C on him….

Also who should I start in the mid – Kornes or Higgins?

  21. if youve got gaz, get on him…. if u dont u will lose ur prelim!

  22. Swan, although even though Collingwood have an awesome record against Sydney (in life and in DT) I am nervous about selecting a captain playing vs Collingwood! Definitely at risk of switching over to Pavlich or Chappy.

  23. honestly calv, gibbsy is going to carve up. kick 2 or 3 majors. gather 30 lazy touches and im lookin at 130 minimum here for this young superstar!
surely he coulda squeezed ur top 5. if not top 1!
is anyone else looking at the fixture? they play melbourne! at the big MCG!!!! gibbs is going to own his own paddock on saturday mark my words

  24. great write up calvin! i am also doing the cross trade like andy , i am looking at either lenny hayes or jimmy bartel..its been a really hard choice which one should i get??

  25. V8.. the bombers arent listed on ur secret ladder.. anyone know where theyd be sitting?

  26. OMG ,, stevie j is out, but i dont have him yay!

  27. Hey

Great work Calvin. Im going voldt this week.

But i need help! Who under $400,000 should i bring in up forward for my last trade???

    OKeefe, Davis, Aker???

  28. ESSENDON – 12

They have given up 12×100+ scores in the last 3 weeks guys! Ranking them equal 5th.

yeah Gibbs might be a good smokey, why not?

  29. Spoilt for choice! I’ve got all the top 5. I can’t see a reason to move away from Swanie.

  30. Thanks for all the help Calvin, as always a cracking read chief.

Gazza for me, too tight this week to be making any other choice.

  31. PLEASE VOTE GUYS
I want another good CC for next week!!

  32. Either Ablett
    or
    Thompson as a roughie

I dont have Swan (God, if I did then he would be my captain always) but I have the other 4 as well as the 2 KOD.

Thompson may well and truly produce a massive score in Adelaide Vs the Eagles. He scored 153 Vs them last time so why not.

Ahh I probably go Ablett to be sure I’ll get a good score

  33. Volt is extreeeeeeemly tempting, especially since Swanny is playing the club that goes by the same name, and well, picking a captain against the Swans makes me a little squeamish. No matter how tempting it is, every time I go against traditional DT wisdom, it always seems to end up F!@#ed.
Despite this…. I can’t go past him, lock in that jet the SWAN

  34. I’m going Sandi against whatever dwarf Essendon sacrifice to him.. Guaranteed 100% hitout rate and zero opposition in the air, he should absolutely dominate!

  35. Why did I trade in Swan? Now I have to choose between Ablett and Swan!

  36. Great work Vin! I got knocked out in the qtrs but still had a read for some gambling advice. I got on your tip for Scotty T most Ade points at $4.25.

Nice return thanks to you mate.
