AFL Dream Team 2009 – Pre-Season
While all AFL Clubs are well and truely into their pre-season training, the diehard Dream Team fanatics are doing just as much work, if not more, than some of th
e blokes that will make their 30 player squad for 2009! One bloke who is having a crack is m0nty over at fanfooty.com.au. He has been blogging his little heart out with some interesting stats and stuff from first year players to team structure to thoughts on the draft. The Fanplanner is back and you can use the predicted prices (based on ‘inflation’ and the ‘rules’ of the last couple of years) to select your side. There are a few nifty little features included with this, so check it out and see what you come up with!
But for us… our pre-season will begin in 2009! I don’t think we’ll be doing much for a while apart from enjoy the sun and a few beers and get ourselves primed for the NAB Cup! Enjoy the summer!!

Fuck yeah, offseason is all about drinking booze, while footy season is all about footy, dream team and drinking booze (not in any specific order)
Yeah touche’ to that!
Shit I’m looking forward to summer.
Anyone got any DT Tips or HOT GOSS for me in ‘09???
yeah calvin, but daniel rich
buy daniel rich
Daniel Rich is a goer but a lot of talk about Stephen Hill over here in the west too and if he goes to Melbourne could play majority of games, ala Cale Morton
Yeh i got Stephen Hill at this stage, have to wait and see where players go though.
good work warne dawg
i think dangerfield might be a good pick up from the crows. we will have a few gaps in the backline with no bassett or massie there anymore so someone is going to have to take there place.
since danger managed to get a few games last year without training with the team im sure he will defently get a spot when he is up there permanently.
Talor Walker might be another good pick from adelaide. owned in the sanfl in his first year. dont no how he will go in the afl though since he wont be as big as the afl players. seems to be able to kick some big bags so hopefully he can bring that into the afl for us.
got em both too dylan. tall forward/defenders dont really score well in DT though in their first year. Taylor Walker im guessing will only average a max of 50 if he gets games. Wonder if Hentschell will play.
@Dylan
The word is ‘know’ not ‘no’.
@any
Those adjusted DT scores from that Freako mailout
Mitch Robinson 104
Chris Yarran 91
Jordan Lisle 90
Jack Ziebell 88
Nick Suban 85
Scott Reed 80
Michae Hurley 73
Michael Walters 72
Steele Sidebottom 72
Kade Klemke 71
Hamish Hartlett 71
Daniel Rich 69
Aaron Cornelius 68
Rhys O’Keeffe 61
Jack Watts 60
Sam Blease 60
I’ll wait for pre-season games before I would consider Rich a lock… the old adage of good footballer not necessarily being a good DTer still applies. I want to find the the next Bradd Dalziell rather than the next Craig Bird…
Yeah Chad, I’ve been thinking about Hentschel, if he is fit, he is in Adelaides top 22 guaranteed and at his price, he is a lock, even if he is only a bench player for you.
Is swift any good? I heard he gets a lot of possessions like Rich
Swift’s a gun apparently, just hasnt played much cos of injury i think…..couple of years ago he was rated above Rich
Voss said he was the best under 16 footballer he had ever seen.
Swift is good player but he has already had 2 knee recos
Ben Cousin’s would you go there???
Guess it depends on the price.
I’ll certainly consider it if he is 250k ish. Gotta see how he pulls up after the NAB cup too, remember the last game he played he did his hammy after a lay off. He’s getting old now.
Then again don’t know if I could afford to chance Hentschel and Cousins in the same team.
Wonder what Hasleby’s price will be this year?
I’d rather go for Walker than Hentschell because Walker I reckon will get 22 games and (bar injury) will average 50- odd Hentschell on the other hand at best will average 60 and most likely get injured after about 3 games making you like 10k and then saying “ha I wasted a trade” or you can see a zero till round 22, preferably on bench but even that would piss me off personally
Ben McGlynn worth a look with Crawf retiring?
averages look decent from 2007.
“I’ve been thinking about Hentschel, if he is fit, he is in Adelaides top 22 guaranteed”
I wouldn’t say that. He’ll be battling Gill, Walker, Sellar, Tippett etc. for a spot. He’ll play a few, but I wouldn’t say he’s guaranteed to be in their best 22.
Any news or comment on these two high draftees who haven’t played much?
2004 No. 6 Tom Williams Western Bulldogs
2005 No. 6 Beau Dowler Hawthorn
2005 No. 8 Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls Richmond
2006 No. 2 Scott Gumbleton Essendon
anyone looking to pick up a cheap-ish draft pick who is gun, to go on their bench a reccomend jack ziebel from the kangas.
he’s 119 k and he owned in pre season
Thanks Blake, haven’t heard of him before, but I’ll have to look him up. Be nice to get a unique player that no one else will pick.
!
Why do males love beer? It tastes bloody awful – must be a gene thing? Or lack of taste buds? Some neanderthal genetic mutation.
Should I keep Hentshel in the team or is he still carrying an injury. If you want a cheapish forward then get Higgins from the Doggies he costs 220k and is a good player
yeah daniel rich but get daniel kerr to.
go the bombers and tigers ALWYN DAVEY 29 and BEN COUSINS 32 roxz.and so does Tayte Pears 16 for essendon and lets just say the rest of essendon and richmond roxz too.
a how do u go for ricmond and essendon rnt they lke rivals
