AFL Teams: Round 18

Files under 2008 | Posted by Warnie

SUNDAY TEAMS NOW UPDATED! Look out for Patrick Veszpremi  who is a DT superstar in the making… got a trade up the sleeve and need to cash someone in? Dalziell is your man… but Vez could be someone you are after too!

Nathan Jones Dropped! Here they are… the teams for the last roster game of the year! Well, DT roster game! Team Calvinator’s interim coach isn’t happy with Nathan Jones being dropped, nor are a few coaches wanting cover for Paul Chapman with Kurt Tippett being shown the door! Jake King still hasn’t got a gig yet as with Peter Burgoyne who couldn’t even make an extended interchange! Each week there are so many f*cked up selections!

Roy, coach of destROY are happy that Albert Proud is back to cover for Michael Osborne after he is being soft with his corked buttock! Cameron Ling and Darren Milburn both come into the Cats lineup. And to make some people that still have him happy, Austin Wonaeamirri is back for the Dees.

DT is no longer alright with me.. Went O’Dwyer ahead of Dalziel for Kerr’s cover 2 weeks ago, Osborne now has what he is (a sore ar$e of a player), Purgoyne on the Tank Engine, Chappy Hammy going again, McKinley probably getting dropped for the Derby, no playing emergencies.. Too many rookies, and just the one trade. Thankfully, I’ve got 4th place sewn up. Unthankfully, I’ll be putting up with the DT pain for another fortnight >:(

I have one trade left.Should I do one of these.
OUT-Wonaeamirri IN-Newman/Waite and have Rioli on the field
    OR
OUT-Playfair IN-S.Johnson and have Anthony or Wonaeamirri on field
I am 8th playing 9th and the winner is in the finals so I must win.Should I trade and if so which one?
    Thanks

Off the topic, but Carlton have re-signed Fevola for 3 years…….what a bunch of lying, theiving, bunch of cheats (formerly led by a goddam criminal who should rot in jail). They come out and say theyve put contract talks on hold, then go behind everyones back……nothing new from those lying bastards tho, they do deny tanking last year after all…….they should be deregistered for bringing the game into disrepute. Dont take this too seriously, i just realy hate those bunch of cheats.

Walks, Wona should rack up 60-70 which is decent for a back as Stevie J vs Playfair is completely different. I’d go for Stevie J.

Getting worried about King. Raines and King, plus improving rookies Rance and Conners all in the running for a back line spot that just isn’t coming available while Tigers going ok.

why is burgoyne not playing.? if there is no reason then i feel like there might have been a mistake or something. im gonna put him on the field and keep taylor on the bench as emg. not like i lose anything.

Guys i can trade Chapman for any midfielder i like and still have at least $100k in the bank. any suggestions on who is a gun to take into finals. i already have ablett on the bench and am thinking Corey or Bartell but not sure if i want to load up on Cats. The way they are going though, why not. Right?

I’ll be pissed if P.Burgoyne doesn’t see any more game time this season. Bloody Mark Willians blooding all these youngsters before seasons end.

May be forced to trade P.Burgoyne come finals if he doesn’t play again….

hmmm.. great to see Stewie Dew back just in time to cover for Chappy… You beewtay!

Now who to play for Purgoyne, good old dependable Harry Taylor or Albert Proud whom I have stubbornly held onto for 18 weeks on his pre-season form alone.

TIME TO SHINE ALBERT! Time to shine…

I’m hoping Geelong thrash Richmond’s backline silly, so the coach shakes it up and brings back King.

Everyone with King say a collective prayer for Geelong to thrash Richmond… :)

    Dan.

p.s., if King wasn’t in my team I would prefer to see the upset (Richmond > Geelong) :)

  30. GravatarBy sam on Jul 31, 2008 | Reply

    who would you get…
    richo or reiwoldt??

    tough choice

  31. GravatarBy Raf on Jul 31, 2008 | Reply

No Troy Chaplin for Port (as well as no Chad Cornes) might mean ++ for Nick Riewoldt as captain despite the numbers… I’m still taking JB, though. Especially since Laidley is showing signs of a re-lapse. Picking Leigh Brown (on the field! At FF!) and naming Sansbury in the emergencies shows he has completely lost the plot again. It’s like he’ll pick kids when he has his back to the wall, and as soon as we get into 5th out comes Laidley’s favourite VFL players again…

My forward line is as follows:
    Pavlich
    Giansiracusa
    Franklin
    Medhurst
    J Brown
    Porplyzia
    J Morton

    Res:
    Burton
    J Edwards

I have 2 trades left and am saving one for when I’m going to get a donut in my backline (this week I’m safe).

I have enough money to afford any player that is available and was thinking either:

Richo (not sure if he will remain injury free)
    Riewoldt (scores poorly against Port)
O’Keefe (can he maintain great form)

Any advice would be sweet… oh, and was that Daniel Giansiracusa on the bench for Williamstown? WTF???

Real problem with Purgoyne is what he did a few years ago, the thing that was reported on Four Corners. That’s the reason neither Purgoyne or O’Loughlin or that Adam Heuskus for that matter, will ever play for the Stangers.
