Price Check with Chad

Defenders

Joshua Head played his second game last week, which means his price will rise this week. Currently at $83,500 has a BE of -40. After a nice 67 in his first game, he had a 38 last week (89% TOG) with the main difference being zero tackles instead of 7 previously. With a fair bit of back problems, will he play for the rest of the year?

If you watch the Collingwood game, you would think that John Anthony could be a forward, but he is a defender. He has put up his second consecutive 70 and has a BE of -32.

As mentioned last week Matthew Scarlett again has a negative BE (-27). To Dan from last week “Whats the point of talking about Scarlo?” Well you may have noticed a nice DT Ton that he posted this week to backup his 89. I will notice any cheap All Australian that is starting to put up 80+ scores in the backline.

Midfield

St Kilda’s Robert Eddy put up another respectable score to put his average at 58 and a BE this week of -5. Trent Cotchin still has the 120 from a couple of weeks and with a BE of 17 this week should have 1 more price rise in him. Brent Stanton has been loving some freedom lately and even at the 435k price tag has a BE of 21 this week.

At the other end of the scale Gablett will need 213 when/if he resumes to hold his price. Nick Stevens who suffers from the same condition as Heath Shaw (don’t put an opponent on me) needs 186 to hold his price.

Forwards

Shane Valenti has been a gun downgrade target at the end of the year and put up 77 this week (70% TOG). He currently averages 70 and taken his price from 72k to 200k. Even at 200k he still has a negative BE (-5 this week). Kangaroos Lachlan Hansen also has a BE of -10. Scott Lucas at 257k needs 29 this week to hold his price, and Ryan O’Keefe needs 31 after his great score last week.

is guerra worthy of being a swap for Cornes, his past 2 rounds has lost my faith in him???

  2. By Disco on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Wait on Guerra to get a decent score again, before you consider him. His price is almost certain to go down after R17.

  3. By Chad on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Well said Disco, he needs 163. Should have mentioned that, if you can wait another week, he will get nice and cheap

My plan has been to upgrade J Morton to Robert Murphy. Murphy’s price will continue to fall this week. However, Murphy’s poor form of late has me worried - is he carrying an injury? Would Deledio be a better target?

  5. By Chad on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Problem with Deledio is if he gets tagged (ala Kane Cornes when he scored 51) he goes to crap.

  6. By darcy on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

My options for Cornes are either wait for Purgoyne to drop under 301K or buy McLeod, Birchall or any1 else worth it under that price. I have Gilbee and Guerra already !

  7. By Theo X on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

I’d go Bradshaw if you dont have him already ~280K

  8. By Mossy on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Darcy, what about C.Cornes for Bradshaw? Looks a decent trade this week even after jumping in price.

  9. By Mossy on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

hah, nice work Theo - beat me to it :)

  10. By Dan the Man on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Hmmm, I’ve got 5 trades left & have the chad. I can hold on to him as i’ve got cover from Wona & would still have Selwood S as a sub.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether it’s worth bringing in the purple Head for Chad? Cheers.

Dont get McLeod whatever you do. I needed him to score 5 or more points to win my league game last week in Supercoach, and the litle fucker scores -2.

  12. By Theo X on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Yeah ill second that: Shaw is an overrated shit homo bitch!

  13. By Theo X on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

woops u were talking about mcleod……i just saw “little fucker” and assumed you were talking about shaw

  14. By Theo X on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Dan, i wouldnt get Jobby, dockers have a revolving door policy when it comes to IN/OUTs

  15. By fryzie on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Stupid O’Keefe was supposed to DROP AGAIN THIS WEEK. Now I am forced to make a decision, grab O’Keefe now for Porpz or wait another week to see if Murphy or Franklin drop and then miss out on O’Keefe as his price will surely rise.

And do I even want Murphy or Franklin over O’Keefe after he proved he is capable of such a ceiling with 155?

cheers chad, good to see valenti and cotchin can still make me moneeeeyyyyyyy!

    Hey Chad,

Yeah I suppose you’re right. Scarlo has now scored above 65 4 times this season and what’s more has now scored 7 centuries in his whole AFL playing career…definitely worth a look f’sure. Think you’ll see he also scored a 80+97 earlier in the season, but then got over 46 once in the next seven games. But then again I’ve dropped out of the top 1000 so maybe I’m losing touch with the people. >.<

    DtM,
I wouldn’t bring in a rookie for the Chad, especially if you can temporarily cover with Wonaemirri. There are a handful of players around the 300k mark who would be a better straight trade. I’m personally gonna wait a fortnight before I make my trade as maybe I might be able to drop a rookie at the same time and get in a better player.

    Peace out,

    Dan

Dan & Theo’ thanks. I think I was trying to get too smart for my own good. I’ll just cover the great man til the finals.

does anyone else who had milburn feel cheated after this weekend? he racked up 19 possessions in the first quarter and only ended up with 32! surely he should have pulled his finger out, racked up 76 possessions and a lazy 220 odd points. lazy bum.

  20. By Chad on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Dan, Scarlo could be an option for people that want someone to play out the year. It doesn’t really matter what he has done the first 14 weeks, all that matters is what he does for you these last 6 weeks (2 normal and 4 finals). Certainly a capable player and can score well as highlighted by his last 2 weeks.

  21. By Ed on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Doesn’t Josh Head have an injury cloud over him at the moment?

  22. By Owlz on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

What has happen to the goo is he putting in a heath shaw effort or what ? Maybe he been doing his hair for too long and forgot that he is playing footy. Not happy Hawk not happy !!

    who to get…
    rob murphy or ryan o’keefe??
I am getting one of them for porps

the plan was to wait for murph to drop a fair bit in price so i could pick him up- he did that perfectly! (and i bet heaps of other people were hoping for the same thing…)

but now with o’keefes brillant score he has brought himself back into trade contention.

    thoughts?

    Cheers

why has guerra been so shite????

  27. By Chad on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

didn’t get to see the hawks game cobra kai, but according to stats guerra had 73% TOG so should have posted a bit better score.

  28. By Disco on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Guerra’s had some issues with his rug.

Dan the Man - your comment about having Scott Selwood as a sub cracked me up - the guy is only marginally better than a donut.

  32. By easton on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

hey be nice chris, ive been waiting on my boy selwood to come back all year and he did me proud posting a huge 19

    …..wat a hack….

  33. By Chris on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

At least he hacked his way to a small price rise - now he’s a donut you can offload for $97K.

  34. By Chris on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

Gablett BE of 213 - yikes ! Although the BE calculator has it as 174 - not sure which one to believe.

  35. By sam on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

haha fryzie. I’m sure there are many others in own positions as well!!!
ROK just has to come and make my trading decisions harder for me now…lol

What do you guys think about Symes for Chad???
He has a low break even and normally scores alright, but is a bit injury prone. So do you think i should get him or someone more consistant like Newman and have no cash left???

  37. By Maches on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

or should i get someone a bit different in Massie???

  38. By ken on Jul 22, 2008 | Reply

palmer is still goin to train i think they are goin to see how he goes tomoz before they make a decision.
S Selwood is a lot better player than the way he has been playing.
…..I had Dalziel at the start of the year and traded him round 8 coz he wasnt getting a game ;(
