Chad Cornes officially done for 2008

Files under Injuries & Suspensions | Posted by Warnie

The ticking injury time bomb that is our main man, Chad Cornes, has officially called the end to his 2008 Dream Team season. He is booked in to have an arthriscope on his injured knee and shoulder and will also have the pin removed from his broken finger.

SuperChad is hoping to be back for a full pre-season and a massive 2009 Dream Team season. The positive thing is that his price should be pretty low next year… which means every man and his dog will get him (ala Nick Stevens this year), but it will all come down to what people do with the rest of their cash!

Good luck Chad… we’ll miss you! Get yourself set for plenty of DT tons next year!

    HELPPPPPPPP ME

if chad cornes is out then i need to make a trade bcos i must get into teh top4 of my league! i have 4 trades left and 16 k in the bank. i have 2 good reserves (wellingham and valenti) that i can cash in for money. i do not need to make trades to my mids, rucks, or fwds bcos they r already set for the rest of the season………….the problem lies in my back line. my backline is the following:

    sam fisher
    roughead
    heath shaw
    chad cornes
    wonnamirri
    kennelly
    harry taylor

i am not sure whether to do a straight trade from chad to either of: symes, gilbee, waite, massie, osborne, birchall or josh drummond
    OR
do a cash trade (wellingham to a 72k player) then chad for mackie or bock or wheatley.

if i chose the second option then i would have 2 trades left and 1 cash cow still on the bench to trade in, then i could trade kennelly or harry taylor for another big gun backmen.

if i took the first option i would have 3 trades left and would no matter what have at least 1 cash cow still on the bench and perhaps wasted……………………..

ANY SUGGESTIONS on which option i should take ????????????????????????????

Will have to continue my run at the eliminator prize with the chad and birdman riding the pine. 4 point victory yesterday. 1 minute to go in freo-melb game, I had valenti opp had ibbo, scores tied, ibbo takes possession, valenti tackles him, what a victory.

  5. By Rob on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

That is a wicked victory Jocko!

Do people reckon Guerra will bounce back from a poor couple of games? His price has dropped nicely, so could be a straight swap for Chad.

  6. By Dan on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

Personally with 4 trades left I wouldn’t be converting your cash cows - you’re making the assumption that you won’t get any more season ending injuries in the next few weeks and we know how that has been working out lately…

I’ve got a bit of cash so looking at Mackie/Bock/et al

I already have Symes otherwise I would get him.

    Dan.

Assuming he is still a BAC, second player picked next year (after Cox).

I can hear Rex Hunt singing.

  10. By Disaster on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

    FUCK!

Beau Waters, now chad, and probably palmer. Those 4 trades I was going to use on upgrades using my cash cows have very quickly gone down the gurgler.

    Last trade 140k in bank
    Chad Cornes for Makie
    or take a risk
    Myers for Makie

  12. By didsi rulz on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

    OUT:Cornes and Palmer
    IN:Mackie and Marc Murphy
this would leave me with no trades left
    should i do these trades???do i do no trades>do i do 1 of those trades?or do i do no trades?HELP

traded him out for someone. ha. i can’t remember who. pretty sure they’re good though.
    too slack to check

got pamer and chad in the midfield, either palmer for mitchell or goodwin, for last trade, or chad out for ling with no emerg…well rylee dunn but he’s DUNN a hammy.

I wondered if he was just hanging on for the Showdown. I moved him on weeks ago for Mackie. Good move! Mackie has well and truely out scored him since then! Now if McLeod would only start scoring!

No matter where he is listed, early pick next year. Surely he would at least be listed as a fwd and mid, even if they take him out of the backs.

Would think that one of the big criticisms of this year’s DT is “not enough people listed as backs”, though, so they probably will be more about putting people into the backs than taking them out… guys like Bradshaw and Roughhead will definitely go, but hopefully guys like Carazzo will be put back into the back/mid class where they belong.

2008’s best backline right now, using only one trade, looking like:
Mackie, Bock, Wheatley, Chad Cornes (traded to Joel Bowden several weeks ago), Sam Fisher, Jorden McMahon and Heater with starting bench: Bradshaw and Ibbotson

I reckon the DT Talk boys should hold a contest at the end of the year: work out the best possible starting team and bench (either do it without trades, or allow trades- the stat centre on official site lets you check prices in past rounds for those without FF genie stuff), whoever comes up with the highest scoring team wins. Bench players may only be played if a regular got a 0 for that round, so people don’t do things like pretending they would have subbed on Jack Riewoldt for Buddy Franklin last week…

Why trade palmer now if you only have 1-2 trades left? Why not wait until you know he is definitely out?

Maybe he is only out for 1-2 weeks and comes back? You might need that extra trade for Cox if he gets rested towards the end of the season. I know I’ll be saving 1 trade just for Cox.

ah, i traded him for goddard (who hasnt risen in price this year).
im pretty happy. good consistant 80/90 scorer

  21. By Uncle_Stan_Stan on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

Alright boys, any advice on this would be great…

Need to trade Chad out, stupidly fooled myself into thinking he would see out the season…

Do I upgrade up to either Bock or Bowden

    OR

do a straight swap. H. Shaw I know is a gun and to me is a logical swap but would I be better going for:

    Symes, Purhoyne or the Goo????

  22. By Chad on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

If u are interested in elague then look at who each are playing Stan. (e.g. symes|bock crows have a few winables games after sydney this week)

  23. By Disco on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

Molly - Well done. Alright, now when is Cox going to pull the pin? After the western derby in R18? Or not at all. The supposed foot injury isn’t holding back at the moment, like it seemed to be in R11/R12.

in fact there is only a very small chance that he goes for the season….

Go Chad - cheap pickings next year!

  26. By Chad on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

Gee afc1991 it is almost sounds like your team got beaten this week by his team. grapes a little sour are they?

  27. By Steve on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

Chad rest easy Dream Team Legend. You did your job yesterday in helping Port beat the Crows. We all know you hate the Crows as much as Port supporters do.

Funny how all the Crow supporters have gone into hiding? Could it be they have finally realised that their team is not good as they thought it was.

  28. By didsi rulz on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

yer crows supporters probs pissed that they hav been knocked out of the 8 by ther rival team who rnt even close 2 finals and crows massive chance 2 miss finals, playing 3 teams above them and 3 teams below, but those 3 teams below r carlton, essendon and richmond who r all going ok,so crows supporters r obviously just pissed but dont go off at chad, chad is a legend

haha. it’s funny to read that so many people are in terrible positions with 1 or 0 trades left and have the chad in their side.

As for me, got rid of him weeks ago for wheatley who has done very nicely! :)

Also got 5 trades left and unlikely to trade this week…

  31. By Lunchguy on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

Good luck Chad! You’ll be my first DT pick again next season!

Looks like I’ll bring Scarlett in for a run, that’ll make me a decent bit of $$$ and leave me with 4 trades for the finals.

Pity I have Myers and Scott D Thompson as my benchmen….

It’s your dream team, decide for yourself. As for Chad….. well now I’m rooted and I only have myself to blame. Warnie you took a couple of great ‘grabs’ Saturday night hahaha.

What will be Robert Murphys breakeven for this week be a round?

  40. By Brendan on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

Fuck you Chad. I never picked you before this year based on the principle that I absolutely hated your guts and couldn’t possibly bear to support you, which I have done somewhat this year … and now your injured all year and scoring shit and the only reason I got you was because at the start of the year you and Bowden looked like the only two decent backs and I wanted to do better in DT. So no, I will not pick you next year so i can go back to hating you (especially when you used to keep on ripping out these tons when you weren’t in my mo-fo team).

  41. By Brad on Jul 21, 2008 | Reply

I think Murphy’s breakeven will be around 115-120

Hey snozzie lad trade him for Bruce Doull he was a champion backman, that should help you with your massive trade dramas. Get an icon of the game.

Chad surely you could have squeezed a few more rounds out, rest up our wounded soldier and get ready for 2009.

Bozzy you fucking pussy, make up your own fucking mind.

Why do you want half of Australia coaching your side anyway? It won’t improve your position of 103, 510 you smelly dickcheerse.

    Bozzy

You need to get some perspective, firstly it’s a fantasy football game - FANTASY GAME! So it’s not that important and doesn’t determine whether you are succeeding in life. Apart from in this instance where I think it’s safe to determine you are a tool who potentially sits at home all weekend in his room pulling his pud once one of his players hits 100 dream team points on his live updates. And the others are right, nobody gives a shit about your team.

Can’t afford any decent backliners with a straight swap (no cashola) and only 2 trades left.

Good luck with the ops Chad and as I keep telling myself - there’s always next year.
