Ok here is the first match-up to discuss. Lets say you already have the ‘big’ ruckman in your team - Dean Cox, but you are looking at up grading your ‘other’ ruckman to a better one. Who would you choose?
Jeff White - was dropped last week and is the dearest of the 3 rucks here at $360,600. He averages 92.08 this year and averages 86.2 in his last 5 games this year. He scores 90+ 62% for the time and only 8,792 coaches have him - would you?
David Hille - priced at $345,600. Hille has been cruising nicely in his last few games for the Bombers. In his last 5 games he has averaged 102, with 124 and 133 in his last 2. He only averages 87.31 for the season but for obvious reasons in well and truely in this conversation.
Aaron Sandilands - Big Sandy is valued at $341,500… $19,100 less than White. He is averaging 87.08 this year and has averaged 83 in his last 5. 38% of the time he will score you a solid 90+. So does this big unit get your selection?

i hav hille in my SC n pissed that i dont hav him in DT so definately hille

Yeah I just dont see the value in using trades in my ruck area.
Cox and Simmonds are doing alright.
Ive used so many trades with LTI’s and my shitty performing backline more ppw can be picked up through my backline or midfield (e.g. upgrading Palmer)

Hille

I picked up Hille about 3 weeks ago as a deputy for Cox, I have been very hapy with his performance. Got Kreuzer on the bench with stupid Meesen who is going to be my most consistent player through out the complete season with 0 every week

I reckon hille is in the middle of a red hot streak but won;t keep it up. And at this point white is a pretty big risk because you don’t know how secure his place in the side is, so my pick is big sandy. he can get some massive scores and is a good backup for cox in my opinion

Yeah I got Hille in a couple of weeks ago, took a bit of a gamble over other more consistant ruckmen but has paid off so far. Now that his price has risen I would probably choose Sandy over the other 2 because he is going to be more consistant. Even if he doesn’t get a possession, he still gets a fair few points from ruck taps alone and no other ruckman will beat him in that area. Will be one of the first players I choose in next years DT as he will only get better.

I like the look of Sandilands, more for private league reasons than stats\points reasons.
Sandi always scores big at Subi and has home games in round 20 and 22 against St Kilda and Collingwood respectively. No one in the top 8 of my private league has Sandi either.
However, I think Hille will probably finish higher than Sandi (DT points) at seasons end.

Eaily White imo.
By dylan on Jul 2, 2008 | Reply
my ruck combo cox and sandilands got me a average of like 126 or so this week so cant complain. cant beat that ruck

quiet DT week, not much out there really, and not much to do, thankfully DT talk boys are keeping up some discussion points
also found a bit of a wrap so far

as for rucks, i have white but constantly have worries that he is going to be out with injury or other reasons, which happened this w/e
i dont think that melb were tanking, but im not sure why he missed (resting the back??), anyway if i had my choice now id prob go sandi man

Had Sandi from day 1, got Cox about 3 weeks ago.
Have Hille & Jolly in SC.

White or Sandi - that was my choice when H-Mac went down… and guess who I selected! Screw this shithouse game…
Ok - Melbourne won last week… but, as a ’selection tank’… dropping White is definately that!
By tyson on Jul 2, 2008 | Reply
hille has been killing it and i got him when he was a bargan 4 weeks ago
By Disco on Jul 2, 2008 | Reply
You might as well put this in the context of when Cox finishes his season early. I’m ready for it.
Hille’s form will not last. Lets see how the pea heart plays when they’re 10 goals down.
I’d go White in a few weeks if I’m sure he won’t get dropped again and that he’s back in form - especially with only 9000 selections.
If not, Candiland is the default.
spuzzlord - well said.
Warnie - no one told the players the club was tanking, that’s how shit the Dee’s are going…

sandy smashed hille on the weekend!

My backup is Lade which hasn’t been the best option, but I cannot ditch him now as (as Disco says), it is only time till Cox’s season ends.
By Drew on Jul 2, 2008 | Reply
What about David Hale? Now that Hamish is out, he’s been doing pretty well. Averaging 82.75 in his last 4 games. At 290k, he’s not a bad pickup. Especially because his lowest score over those 5 was when he was beaten by Sandilands (58)
By Drew on Jul 2, 2008 | Reply
over those 4, even…
By BrayDog on Jul 2, 2008 | Reply
Whers’ there Hale, theres a storm. Yeah, Hale has really picked up, looked awesome vs Geelong, not sure how he went in DT, though.
But, I would have to go for Geoff. =)
By darcy on Jul 2, 2008 | Reply
Lade and Simmonds for me. haha I need Cox but with 4 trades might not get him till finals when I can use 2.
With Wood and West on the bench Lade being out could cost me 2100 this week if Wood isn’t picked
David Hale could average 80 this year.

Good to see a few people eating their words on Sandy……

sandilands vs hille
fremantle vs essendon
sandilands 129
hille 88
there is your answer folks
By Disco on Jul 3, 2008 | Reply
darcy - you’d reckon the Pies would put Fraser foward (to cover Rocca/Reid) and have Wood and Bryan in the ruck.
By Raf on Jul 3, 2008 | Reply
Brought in Sandi for McIntosh already. Gun.
Given that he was dropped last week, surprised anyone’s going for White. I would have thought the dark horse to mention in this poll is Ottens.
By Jacko on Jul 3, 2008 | Reply
My Rucks are D.Cox and D.Hille and on the pine Kreuzer and Messen.
Had Cox and Hille from Round 1 so im happy. But one of them got injured i would get Sandilands.
