Corey Vs Thompson Vs Bartel Vs Swan

Its time to upgrade your mids. For the sake of it, lets just rule Ablett out so this argument is fair. Picture this: it’s getting close to finals and you wanna get rid of Nathan Jones, you have put up with him all year and now it’s time to see one of these boys in your line, which one of these potential captains will you choose?

Joel Corey - Priced at a nice $380,600 and averages 103.15 this year. Joel already has a huge 40, 808 coaches who look at him to captain the side each week. He averages more than 10 less than his season average in the last 5 games he has played this year (92). He will score you 100+ 62% of the time but does have 2 low scores of 71 on his record. Any takers?

Scottie Thompson- Worth a lot now is old Scottie, $464,400. $83,800 more than Joel Corey in fact. But you get what you pay for. He averages 106.15 this year with an impressive Ablett like average of 124 in his last 5 this year. Only 12,475 coaches have him and has posted huge scores of 141, 137 and 153 this year. Do you think he’s worth the coin, or would you pay less for maybe the same quality?

Jimmy Bartel- Brownlow Bartel is priced nearly $7k more than Corey at $387,700. He is averaging 103 this year and 96 in his last 5 in 2008. His lowest score for the season is not bad at 73 and he’ll knock you up 100+ 54% of the time. Jimmy is owned by 41,442 coaches already - does he get your vote?

Dane Swan- priced at a healthy $436,900, Dane averages 106.31 this year to rank him as the 2nd best player, behind the great Ablett. His form has been great, averaging 114 in last last 5 games. Swan is coached by 19,718 coaches and he’ll score you 100+ just over half the time. Interested?

Which midfielder would you pick out of these guns?

im looking at bartel as an upgrade after the split round. Taking into account price i reckon he is easily the best buy out of those 3

    BRINGING BARTEL IN FOR McLEAN

I’m hoping Bartel gets less than 106 and i will evaluate Salopek to Bartel. was $800 short of it last week

going for Thompson, cos hes a gun…. also as an upgrade target his price will drop after his 59 and then a week with the pig hanging off him. His average is awesome. Id go for swan, but Malthouse for some reason doesnt like giving him game time.

    I already have Corey.

Something doesn’t seem right with Bartel this year (mainly coz Ablett is hogging the ball) and EVERYONE will upgrade to him in the next few rounds.

Swan looks like he’s wearing a nappy and he plays for Collingwood. He should be dead.

So Thompson it is. Despite his ability to be a passenger, he can also product Ablett-esque scores.

    I already have Swan.

Thommo is too pricey and I don’t like his consistency, so I can’t decide between Bartel and Corey. Probably Bartel: He’s a little more consistent.

have corey, thommo and bartel.the calamity

Swan is my main man. If u dont have him thank you. His ability to find the ball off the packs and kick a nice 9 pointer is music to the ears. My only criticism of him is his inaccuracy at the set shot. Watch Thompson, Corey and Bartel get all Australian honours and swany is left on the sidelines.

Everyone is out to get the Pies. EVERYONE

got ablett, swan and bartel already.

unlikely to select another geelong mid and thompson overpriced. kornes for mine.

Thomo’s price should drop down to about $425k before the start of Round 16.

I don’t think Bartel will be All Australian this year. Although they did pick that ‘10 goals in front but still fist-pumping’ spastic Cam Mooney in last years All-Oz team, so anything is possible. Fuck I hate Robert Walls.

I have Bartel and Corey(had them from the start)and they have been disappointing in comparison to their DT efforts last season. They have both lost around 100k on their original prices. So sux to have had them from the start but I would cash in on them now.

How did the Moon-dog get picked in front of Lucas and rievolt? Bartel is a gun, but he’s got to of been carrying an injury. I’m waiting to see how he goes against Adelaide. Swan is underrated and handles a tag better than all the above. Thompson is only a gun when he doesn’t get a tag, otherwise he’s poo. Corey is playing a bit down back which seems to be affecting his scoring. I have him, but if I was somebody else, I wouldn’t pick him.

P.S. Priddis has got been in the calculations given West Coast’s overuse of the pill.

I like Swan. Lost a bit of faith with Corey, Bartel is down on last years form, and Thommo is too expensive atm. Swan can rack up 50 pts in 10 mins

I’ve had Ablett, Bartel, Corey and Thompson all year and along with Murphy(who I traded with Kerr back in round 6) they’re the main reason I’m top of my league. Being new to DT I didn’t know the importance of keeping trades up my sleeve and now I have none left so I’m hoping these guys stay fit and keep tearing it up.

“Everyone is out to get the Pies. EVERYONE”

That’s right Jonathon. It is everyone else’s fault that the pies haven’t won a flag in 18 years, nothing at all to do with Collingwood. hahahha.

Thompson 4 Sure….Every man and his dog will go for Bartel at the price, and like Disco said, Swan does look like he is wearing a nappy when he plays, and he plays for collingwood (Yet I have Heath Shaw!)

I wouldnt forget Cross for those considering upgrades. I have him & has been a consistent performer all year. Bulldogs play high possesion game & playing finals (obviously) so wont be rested or put in the chop repair shop.

I’m jumping of Green this week. Wanted to do it last week but injuries got in the way.

  25. GravatarBy marcus on Jul 2, 2008 | Reply

bartel is the best here imo. he’s down on form and still averaging up there with the others, people mst be forgetting how dominant he was last year. his price is extremely good also.

Already got Corey and Thompson (gun). Looking to upgrade Houli and leave Palmer and Wellingham on bench for now. Swan seems to be the man to go for. Not sure another Geelong boy is the way to go since I have Milburn, Corey, Chapman - and will trade Gamble out for… someone..
