Of course you have read Calvin’s Captains… if not click here. So you should know who to click on! Just remember how important this last roster game is and how important your captain choice could be! Roy was lucky he changed to Nick Riewoldt from Dean Cox - if he stuck with Coxy, he would have lost by two points last week!
Hi ho! Well do I have a cracker for you this week. Some guys who have been tearing DT to pieces do not seem to have what it takes this week, so are you willing to take the gamble? I say NO! But there are once again so absolute guns who are here to be picked. Last week Cox 101, Corey 133, Reivoldt 115 and Bartel 147 delivered the goods for good old Vin here as my top picks. Oh, and just in case you are a first time reader (ha yeah right) all averages are worked out on the last 3 games as an average, and the “last time they met” section is just that, only in 2008 though. I hope I find something for everyone here. Enjoy!
Geelong’s Brownlow medal favourite Gary Ablett and team mate David Wojcinski have been ruled out of Saturday night’s clash with Richmond. Cats medical staff decided after training on Wednesday that both players needed “one more week” (heard that one before) on the sidelines, the club said.
Joshua Head had his price rise last week but still has a BE of -4. John Anthony from Collingwood needs 7 to maintain his price and Scott Selwood needs 9 to Break Even.
Not much love going around at the moment for Heath Shaw (I am as frustrated as everyone else, but he is the 4th highest scoring back and not missed a game) and he needs to put up 147 to stop his price from sliding even further. DT Talks own Bock Dog was pushed forward last week and as expected had a lower score. Bocky needs 122 to hold his price.
Midfield
Bradd Dalziell has averaged just over 100 from his first 2 games, and has the lowest BE that i have ever seen of -136. St Kilda’s Robert Eddy needs 6 to hold his price.
Forwards
Shane Valenti continues his good form filling in for duds like Paul Chapman with a constant hammy and Mathew Pavlich with a jarred knee. In the past month Valenti’s lowest score is a 74 which has helped his price rocket to 232k and he needs 21 this week to hold that price. Ryan O’Keefe has put up a massive 155 and 138 since Burton went down (why didn’t you pick him up Warnie?) and is up to 358k now and with a BE of -15 is sure to rise again.
Our travelling friend Noof sends in a video with the love of his life… his Ladyman friend from Thailand to do the intro of the show (get those entries in, the season ends soon!)… We discuss the week that was and see what Warnie has to say to his players at his team meeting and ‘pep’ talk ahead of this weeks do or die game! Heath Shaw, Steve Johnson and Matthew Pavlich all cop a spray! We talk about how Steve Johnson is being ‘unselfish’ and looking to give off assists to his mate Cameron Mooney! Not good DTing! After a leagues update, we see what AFL Dream Team TV with Frank and Dwayne have to say… this time James Hird talks about clangers in DT! WTF? Calvin pumps up his Calvin’s Captains (every Wednesday at www.dreamteamtalk.com) after a great round and hopes that it will help him get the job as Roy’s assistant coach! Albert Lord pops in to help “Vin” who made a bad boo-boo with having two emergencies… ouch! Roy and Warnie aren’t happy with Matthew Pavlich being out as he is the most durable player in the competition… Adam Goodes is the third. Chopper says goodbye to some dickhead who does handstands… Good luck this week in the last of the roster games before finals!
Sydney coach Paul Roos has confirmed that Adam Goodes will be confined to the sidelines for possibly ”two to three weeks” but at the very least, next week. He also said that he probably shouldn’t have played on the weekend (well, 29 DT points was pathetic… better off without you mate).
The Geelong Football Clubs have confirmed that Paul Chapman has a “minor tear” in his hamstring and would miss a couple of weeks with it. However, they are very confident on four big inclusions this week in Gary Ablett, Darren Milburn, Cameron Ling and David Wojcinski coming into the side to destroy the Tigers on Saturday night. (Personally, I wouldn’t be holding my breath on Gazza - they have to see how he goes getting through training this week… in my opinion, they won’t risk him against the Tigers).
The Port Adelaide Tank Engine is gathering momentum… Steven Salopek’s achilles is stuffed and is unlikely to play again this year. This is to add to Chad Cornes and Warren Tredrea’s season ending injuries and the fact that All Australian ruckman Brendon Lade can’t get a game and Peter Burgoyne had a club suspension last week.
Freo will say goodbye to Rove’s cousin, Shaun McManus this weekend as he will retire after the Derby. McManus is the last foundation player going around. Well done on a fantastic career Shaun!
DT Hero from the weekend, Jason Porplyzia, made an awesome comeback from his stuffed shoulder against Sydney… the thing is he popped it again and he still kicked 5 goals! I giggled at this quote: “Jason Porplyzia is classified as fully fit despite presently being the owner of a right shoulder that is looser than Jason Akermanis’ tongue.” Lets hope he can see out the year!
I need to use a line from my good friend Chopper, “I’m Not Harrpppyyyy!“. I am the reigning premier of our Dream Team Talk League. Last year I beat Vin in a massive Grand Final battle. This year, I have massively been the hunted! I am currently ranked 2nd overall in our league by points and national ranking… but am languising in 8th spot now having to win this week to make the finals series!
I must admit, things haven’t been smooth at Team Warne Dawgs… a few players delisted through shitness, a few season ending injuries and plenty of blokes who have promise, but haven’t delivered (read: shit decisions made by the head coach). But I am proud at the moment to have a national ranking of (don’t laugh) 2725- peaked around 1200, been out to 6000. But seriously! Second ranked DT out of our league, but 8th on the ladder! It sucks heaps! (I’m feeling your pain too Goatsy - who is 4th overall in our league but in 10th and can’t make the 8). Look at the Jethro Tullers - my opponent this week - 3rd on the ladder but 12th overall (even Vin scored more than him this week). Throw me a fricken bone here!
Read more to see the two ladders, last weeks results and the final round of games… which will definitely shape our final eight! Chopper has a massive game too… he could potentially be out if he loses this week!
Anyone else got some tight league situations like this? (more…)
The match review panel have thrown out Alan Didak’s “jumper punch” and Leon Davis‘ front on contact at their findings today. Scott Lucas is also right to play this week. Lynden Dunncan take a reprimand which will still allow him to play this week.
I know what you are all saying… “why would anyone have him in their Dream Team?”… well, the guy I’m playing this week does and he is in our top 4… must win game! So go Warne Dawgs! Haha…
