Round 11 Trades… doing any?
By Warnie on Jun 6, 2008 in Old Posts
There has been plenty of advice floating around this week in who to dump and who to pick up - and a few blokes who are “on the Bubble” (thanks FanFooty). So this is where we want to hear what you are thinking… and who you are trading (or being disciplined and not trading). To help you, read Chook’s Rooks for this week, Chad’s fantastic Price Check and also the AFL Teams! Don’t get burnt by 2007’s Ricky Petterd rule… or 2008’s Paul Chapman rule - that burnt up so bad a couple of weeks ago!

Remember: Try not to trade until the last possible moment! And in Geelong’s and Kangaroo’s case tonight, wait until you hear the final teams!
just one.
Out Wona
In Mackie
i love having geelong players!!!!!
Out Patful
In Armfield
Out Tippet
In Riewoldt
Out Vince, in Chappy. 9 trades left.
Vince has peaked and has a high BE, Chappy should have bottomed out.
(Also have Rioli and L Harding, but they should have another week or two before falling in price, and I’m hoping to pick up Lucas VERY cheap in a fortnight)
I couldn’t resist.
Stevens to Bartel!
Booya!
out Wona and Hill, in J Mortyn and Jimmy Bartel!!!! Finally!!! 8 trades left
Stevens? You traded out Nick Stevens??? The guy who averages 96 and never gets tagged?
Matto??? Stevens to Bartel?? What a waste of a trade….good luck with that!
traded michael johnson (freo) for McPhee.
McPhee is averaging 3ppg more, and i made 12k on the deal.
McPhee is also at a $104k discount currently.
Might seem like its a little sideways (the trade,) but I’m hoping with lucas back, mcphee can start to find some form.
stevens to bartel? the way stevens is playing thats a bit of a waste i reckon
Houli to Bartel
Proud to Houlihan
McKinley to - dare i say it - Medhurst
leaves enough cash to upgrade Tippet next week to a gun
Steven’s to Bartel??!? *sigh* Now Houli to Bartel that’s the move.
My trades:
Taylor cashed in to Wilkes (hope he plays a few games but not critical if he doesn’t)
N. Thompson to Giasiracasrreacsueracusa.
Both trades leave me with 22 on the field, touch wood.
rioli out j morton in and david hillie in kruez out i have 8trades left
stevens to bartel your kidding me
Probably no trades this week.
Next Week Taylor to Mcleod? Not sure.
nah lee i rate that as a great trade
Mcphee will come good - guaranteed
Stevens to Bartel? Interesting trade. I have a man crush on Stevens. Never gets tagged because he is so much less effective than a Judd or Murphy and racks up big figures. Got him for cheap as chips too, he’s a stayer.
Trading out Gamble to J Morton and upgrading Wood to Hille this week.
Out: Symes
In: McLeod
Out: Houli
In: Goodwin
4 Trades left, McLeod better not let me down!
Molly
thanks Pom!
it was either mcleod or mcphee, and mcleod hasnt inspired me much.
No trades this week. 8 left. I will cop a doughnut because of Murphy, but will save the trade because I have no faith in the rookie forwards at the moment.
Picked up McLeod last week so hopefully it starts paying off soon.
I am making one maybe two trades
N Brown For Wilkes already done
Not sure which way to go with the cash
Osborne for Bock, Bradshaw, johncock
or
Palmer For Cooney, Goodwin, Bartel or Dane Swan
or
Rioli For Buddy Bock Aka or Bradshaw
SOme advice would good
Going to trade out:
N. Thonmpson —-> Morton
Then J. Reiwolt —–> ?
Thinking about Richo, Lance, Didak but all very Xpensive. How about Porps, OKeefe, Bock or Gianciracussa. Any thoughts?
Manboobies - I reckon Palmer is a keeper. The trade can be better used elsewhere.
Personally, I like the Rioli for Buddy or Aka trade.
Making a trade up fwd. Need some help though!
OUT - Dew
IN - R.O’keefe, Richo or PAV
????
out: gamble
in: morton
out: rioli
in: deledio
Deledio will be averaging high 90’s by end of the season
Out Rioli In Morton
Out Houli In Scotty Thompson
Went for Thommo over Swan or Bartel to avoid having too many Cats or Pies in the team.
out nath thompson
in stokes
out mitchell
in swan
Manboobies - are Osborne and Palmer really the weakest links in your team? If so you must be top 100. I think they are wasted trades at the moment.
Cyril on the other hand, while he may be a bit of a sentimental favourite with DT coaches because of his consistent performances this year, may have reached the end of his usefulness. Will be a tough decision to make though.
out gamble
in Nick Riewoldt
starting to shape up now - only Myers, Palmer, Masten and Rioli left on the ground, with guns all around them
Manboobies - agree with Jim, would hold on to Palmer
ok so tippet has peaked, and even though he is somewhat average, he is a regular. Do i take the cash and dump him - for morton most likely - and then run the risk of having morton and valenti on the bench, or do i just hold on and watch my money disappear.
im going to keep tippet on my bench. whilest he has definately peaked after scores of 21 and 14 odd, hes managed to keep his place. which shows the faith adelaide have in him.
as for trades this week, very happy
out: rioli
in: my man deledio!!
out: symes the soft cock
in: heathland shaw
waters for wilkes
armitage for swan???
comments?
Out: N. Thompson
In: N. Riewoldt
or mundy for wilkes
and armitage for swan?
Tippett -> Morton
I’m also waiting on Lucas, or any other good forward to drop in price to upgrade Gamble.
out kosshitzki
in giansiracusa
out masten
in bartel
should be a good week with chapman coming bak.. hopefully
out gamble
in giansiracusa
Manboobies - Rioli for Buddy - Consistent Gun.
Don’t think should palmer. Osbourne is a tough decision, dependent on number of trades u have left. All three of the choices are good though. I have bock and bradshaw in the backline already and have not really let me down.
Killer - Either Buddy or Didak. How long can Richo keep going at this pace?
If two expensive, i would rate Riewoldt the best less expensive option even though u might already have him. If u do, i would think it would be worth spending more money as o’keefe scoring might go down a bit when hall comes back. Burton and Bock too unpredictable
Gia is not a bad pick though.
Noob: Pav out of that list, no brainer.
gerry.. dunno how much game time these eagles rookies r gonna get… tho they do hav a heap of injuries but i’ll think they’ll rotate them alot thru the season… my opinion.
i’d rather wait n see how dennis armfield goes this week… think hes a keeper
Hopefully with Griffo out Tippett will get a bit of time in the ruck to beef up his DT points with some Hit Outs and cheap marks and kicks around the ground, cos he sure aint doing it playing in the forward line!!!!
He is still not going to make his BE of 90 odd but only 7 trades left so I think I will just put up with him for the moment as long as the rest of my forward line is playing.
who the hell trades out fatty stevens????!!!
Realised I had 200k spare (!) rather than 100k like I thought, so I didn’t need to extract every ounce out of downgrading Tippett like I’d thought I did… did Tippett to Morton, since Morton held his spot with Hodge back, and Gardiner to Cox.
Still have about 70k in the kitty and some good cash cows (particularly Masten and Browne, although I’ll keep one as a backup to the end of the season) and Symes on the bench. My forward line, barring injury is set. My rucks are set. My mids are set unless I want to use that 70k in a couple of weeks to do something like Palmer to Bartel (tempting…). My backs are inconsistent… but so are all the backs I could “upgrade” too, which is why it’s tempting to just pray my backs improve and spend the cash and trades perfecting the more reliable positions!
i think its safe to say ‘matto’ will never be posting in these forums again… aha
Gamble to Riewoldt which leaves me with only one rookie on the field to upgrade out of Browne/Wellingham/Cotchin.
Out: Rioli
In: Stevie J
Would also like to trade down Wona to make some cash but I don’t think that there are any worthwhile 2 game rookies to choose from at the moment. Might wait to see how Armfield, Urquhart and Ferguson go this week and look to make a trade next week.
out: gamble in: morton
out:ibbotson in: CHAD
You crack me up Raf. I’m guessing you love a good chat. Never short of a line or 20!! All shit aside, you’ve got the right idea with trading up forwards/centres and letting defenders do their thing. Not much to be gained in defence.
I’ve traded Gamble for Morton and upgraded Rioli to Franklin. Morton stood up last week when a lot of Hawks were poo, so I think he could be around a little longer than people think. He’s definitely put himself above Young.
you traded ibbotson he is one of the consistant backs. Yea its a good upgrade but surely there is someone else in your team worth trading instead of ibbotson unless your team is already top 200 or something
i went Gamble< Morton taylor< Mcphee
Reckon Mcphee is a risk but he can’t be more shyte than the rest of the available backs.
got rid of ibbotson? FOOL
getting rid of ibbotson was a horrable trade but getting rid of stevens is an even worse trade
Can anyone confirm anything about Daniel Cross (wbd) i was looking at http://www.afl.com.au they had a dreamteam doctor article link below. And he stated that Cross is injured.
http://afl.com.au/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsid=60957
Can anyone confirm this, or has anyone heard any news in relation to this.
Out: C Morton In: Armfield
Out: Dew In: Gia
Why has no one considered Drummond. Gun. 106 two weeks in his second game back then injured during the game last week. Is named and is only $306K. Get on!! Will av 85+ when playing consistently.
ANYONE ELSE HEARD THAT CROSS IS INJURED
Can’t believe someone would get rid of Ibbo. Hell, I’m considering trading him IN.
Josh Hill out - Valenti in, regardless of him not playing he will get another chance and it was purely a cash making trade, and i have well over 200 k to upgrade Dew and Palmer later on in year.
Looking at donwgrading Gamble > Morton/Valenti then upgrading Houli> Bartel/ Corey
However not sure who will play more games. Any thoughts on which one is more likely to play the rest of the season? I was leaning towards Valenti with Robbo’s injury but then he didn’t get named this week. So now i’m thinking Morton.
i think that stupid fuckhead dr dream team must be reading injury reports from 2007.
in round 10, 2007 daniel cross injured a medial legament in his knee and was out for 4-6 weeks.
earth to dr dream team…THIS IS 2008, YOU FUCKING IDIOT!
Is kennelly -> mcphee worthwhile?
Getting frustrated with Kennelly and his level of injuries and bandaging up each week.
Just wondering if anyone thinks I should trade Bernie Vince or Cyril Rioli???
I have 17k in the bank???
unknown..i considered the same thing this week and figured in the end i would trade rioli. vince will spend more time in the midfield..and is capable of scoring 100+ on a good day, something which i doubt cyril rioli could do.
my advice
stick with bernie!!
having said that..with only 17k in the bank..you probly shouldnt be trading either
Out: Nathan Thompson In: Nick Riewoldt
Thomo’s knee a worry, Riewoldt back in some sort of form
waters for wilkes and gamble for morton = $$$
Please, Please, please Neil, Please do this:
http://afl.com.au/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsid=60976
molly
J.Hill to J.Morton (bench players)
and
Houli to Bartel.
Could have afforded Ablett but that would only leave me with $2k in the bank where as I have $65k left now.
Really wanted Ablett but the extra $60k wasn’t worth it in my opinion.
Unknown / Wallcob,
I traded Vince rather than Rioli. The reasons: Rioli’s BE this week is about the same as his average, whereas Vince’s BE is 30-40 above his average. Also, while Vince can score 100+, if he doesn’t he tends to score ~60 - his average is a touch misleading. Just thought there was more $ downside in Vince than Rioli from here.
Jim
waters for wilkes
gamble for didak
and i’m happy
Steve, Ablett’s worth it!
Nice link Phillip i think mcleod is on the way up then gotta buy him woo
just l.henderson out for j.morton. bit of cash for an annoying bench player that doesnt get a game, also needed someone to cover for n.thompson as other bench forward is playing either
12 trades left sitting 104th
got 360,500 sitting there before i traded.
just traded wonna for the chad and rioli for the pav. sitting in a good possie atm.
Out = Houli
In = B Harvey
5 Trades left
Morro
no trades this week for me , im hoping that king lifts hif performance, I was thinking of trading king to bock, might of been a sideways *shrugs*, does anyone think ling is a keeper or is he just damn annoying to have in your team ?
I had ling for a while and he just pissed me off forgot who i traded him for but whoever it was I haven’t regretted it for a second
ummm for all those people that said getting rid of ibbotson for chad was a horrible trade i’m actually 14th in the whole competition and just wanted to get chad into my team quick smart. ibbotson was the only player in my team who wasn’t a gun… so stfu
you guys said stevens to bartel is a waste. wat about t. johnstone to bartel? johnstone bREAK eVEN is 128…… if im gonna do it this is the week. BUT SHOULD I??
really 14th? how many trades left luke?
Stuck with a tricky situation boys.
One short in the forward line due to Dew being unreliably injured again! Have been trusting my emergencies in McKinley and Valenti however neither have been selected.
Option 1: Trade McKinley for J.Morton, Trade Dew for Riewoldt (or a 340k-300k player)
Option 2: Trade McKinley for J.Morton, Rely on Morton for this week and play Dew when he returns
Option 3: No trades. McKinley could be a late change with Hunter named when he wasn’t due for another 4 weeks.
I have 8 trades currently so it’s a big decision.
What do you guys reckon?
no trades this week but hopefully next week OUT:McKinley/Boak IN:Valenti/Bartel
but unfortunately il b playin a man down this week bcoz of N.Thompson
i hav 9 trades but probs 7 by next week
Need some help guys should i trade! Out: (The hopeless) Jetta (averaging 38.86) (BE of 21)
FOR
In: Morton (averaging 66) (BE -69)
Jettas my worst playing and if i got morton he would be on the field with valenti on bench (out). Is it worth it? or will he just stop playing in a week or two and it will be a waste of trade. Considering i’ll have only 4 left! Need some replys ASAP cheers morro!
Mark - I just think that at round 11, there must be bigger holes in your side than T Johnstone.
There will always be opportunities to get guns at fair prices…after a couple of weeks of being tagged etc. Seems like a waste of a valuable trade to me.
in response to you cant make it- i would go option 1 because u do not want dew anywhere near ur team. Reiwoldt is back and is cheap and u need your team at its best for the 2nd half of the season instead of relying on injured overweight players that will struggle and bring down ur average. Since i have responded to ur question i would appreciate u to answered mine:)
Out Palmer and In Bartel
Only 5 trades left but shouldn’t have to trade anymore barring injuries.
29 of 30 players play regular footy with Gamble and Hansen not playing this weekend.
Looks like Bartel is a popular IN this week.
Mark thanks for your response.
I’d have to agree with Jim for your question though, Johnston for Bartel is a bit of a luxury trade which you want to avoid if you have limited trades left. You want to improve the lesser players on your list (in my case Dew) before trading out A grade scorers for A+.
Other opinions on my question also appreciated.
Anyone wanna give me there opinion? with the trade i mentioned a couple of messages above.. muchly appreciated!
Why does everyone think Riewoldt is back? He played Melbourne last week and scored 100 - so what!!!? He had an interrupted pre-season and has not shown anywhere near the form he has the last few years with the Saints playing shitty backwards/sideways footy. I don’t think there’s any value in getting someone who has had an injury interrupted year. There are many more safer bets, you might just have to spent a little bit more coin.
WILL, ive got 6 trades left and im 14th but my team is now complete, like all the players in my starting team are good… so im hoping those 6 trades get me through with injuries, but ive got rhys palmer as my emergency so i wont need to make a trade if one of midfielders is out for a few weeks.
Morro - If you’ve got 4 trades left, i would suck it up for a while and even play with a zero. There will be more Morton’s at some stage - who knows, Jetta may even string a couple of reasonable games together and you might make more than 70k. Jetta doesn’t look like getting dropped from the Bombers and couldn’t possibly play any worse than right now.
There’s not much fun in dream team when all your trades are gone with several rounds still to go. Trust me, been there done that.
kind of agree with that simon apart from the backwards sideways footy. Isnt that how u score well in dt? i think an absolute bargain option for a forward would be matthew stokes. at 317 k he is a steal. Scored 111 last week. Scored 142 in round 2. He knows how to get the dt points up. I would say its between him and reiwoldt for the (you cant make it guy)…….. wouldnt mind knowing ur actual name btw!
I agree with Simon. I think the jury is still out on Reiwoldt. I’m not convinced he is fully fit and I would prefer to wait and see if he can string together a good month of footy before buying him……even if that means having to pay an extra 50k (give or take) more for him. 100+ against Melbourne is not convincing enough for me.
Morro, given you have 4 trades left, I’d let it ride. There’ll be other forward rooks down the track. The trade is far more valuable than the slight advantage of Morton over Jetta.
a 0 is not the end of the world. Running out of trades by round 14 is.
guys thats cause u dont have reiwoldt on ya team……..im trying to be optomistic here fellas…….
If you can afford it, I think that Steve Johnsen is a better option at the moment compared to Reiwoldt and Stokes. His BE is in the 30’s from memory and with another solid effort tonight his price will be heading over the 400k mark.
Mark. I agree that if you already have Reiwoldt in your team then it is probably worth holding him to see if he comes good. But taking a risk to buy him now is another matter.
Backwards/sideways footy is good for the backs but not so great for the big forwards. I think you could definitely sit on the Riewoldt trade for a few weeks. He surprisingly hasn’t got a good record against the Dogs and plays Sydney the week after. If he shows a few good signs in those two matches (I mean by leading up the wings for link up work and several marks and kicks), then he is a definite prospect. I think he is just a bit too risky at the moment.
You may have a different opinion, and you might also be right on the money. That is what makes DT great!!
well my forward line is one of the best in the competition so if reiwoldt doesnt score to his best an averages 85, then i wil b a bit dissapointed but it wont b the end of the world…….MY Forward line is: Pavalich, Reiwoldt, R.Murphy, Delideo, S.Johnson, Franklin, Jonno brown………… U RATE THAT?!!!!
riewoldt did look pretty good n he played without stupid strapping on his shoulders and knees n looked like he could move around alot betta…also he normally has a pretty good 2nd half 2 the yr
mundy -> wilkes
armitage -> swan
comments?
If your team is complete with 6 trades left for injuries and can afford to have Rhys Palmer as an emergency to boot, you are awesome (I assume that 14th is 14th overall, not 14th in the league) and you don’t need advice from us. We need advice from you!
For most of the rest of us Ibbotson for Chad isn’t smart because Ibbotson wouldn’t be our worst back
I had to go:
Out= J Hill
In= J Morton
&
Out= Gamble
In= N Reiwoldt
This had to be done so I could hang onto Burton and still have Tippett on the bench if required(dont trust J.Brown being a late w/drawl).
Of course I would have rathered offload Tippett before the other 2, but he didn’t leave me with enough $$$$$$ for someone i felt worthy of a spot in Team DAZZLER !!!
What do ya reckon ???
9 trades left..
Expect to see a bit more of the Riewoldt we used to know in the next few weeks. Yes last week St Kilda may have been playing Melbourne and admittably Riewoldt looked to be lacking in confidence when going for goal however his running looked better and for the first time in years his shoulder were tape free (anyone who has to wear tape on their shoulders would know that it does restrict your arm movement) so it’s a good sign.
He seems to have recovered well from his knee injury and is due for some big games with 100+ points. At less than $320k I would consider him at bargain value especially with his BE being about 65 as well.
I’m one of the ’suckers’ who is very interested in trading him in, whether it’s worth two trades - I need your help to decide.
is it worth buying corey or bartel everyone’s target?
Oh and by the way, i have excepted a DONUT if THE KREUZ doesnt play..
I rathered get the forwards right, as last week, i got STUFFALL from Matty anyway, so it will not be a HUGE loss, a risk i am willing to take….
Ha ha - a lot of confused boys in here
Just how good is Dustin Fletcher? might be too slow/skinny for Franklin?
I have already done mine as I wasn’t sure if I would be back in time.
I did Leuenberger –> Bailey
and Rioli –> Gia
hey guys who should i hav as captain…
BUDDY OR COREY???
need a quick response as im bout 2 go out
Thanks simon and jim for your opinions on the jetta - morton swap. Only other thing that came to my mind. I’ll make 50,000 profit doing the trade itself.. not including the money morton is gonna jump this week with a be of -69. I’ll have valenti and morton rotating for whoever isnt playing. If worst comes to worst i’ll be able to trade morton to a 300,000 player! With the money i’ll make. Like i said jetta is the only bad player on my team now.. looking to get easily over 2000 mark this week now that chappys back in!
Corey
Collingwood i’d go for buddy as they are playing my team essendon
Our back has let through the most points this year so i reckon hes up for a big one.. corey is playing a decent team tonight kangas so he may not get as much as normal average but thats just my 2 cents!
Morro - I promise you two things:
that Jetta can’t fall by much more (he’ll be dropped if he plays worse),
AND there’ll be other rooks come along to trade down into. The $ shouldn’t influence your decision.
riewoldt in for roughead
Sewell out for 6 weeks
armfield or urquhart???
does anyone know how long Corey Jones is out for?
I just read an article on afl.com.au. it was the dream team doctor giving his rant and he mentioned daniel cross was injured. anyone heard of this?
What the hell do you know Chunky, you dork!
About as much as you killerballs !
Have a good weekend mate.
out - bird,waterrs In - king,kennedy
jumped on morton last week
