The teams playing in the first week of this split round will love the next weekend off footy - especially as there were a few ‘one week’ kind of injuries. The most severe (apart from our mate Graham Polak - best of luck buddy), is probably Dustin Fletcher who broke his hand… likely to be missing for a few weeks. Ryan Griffen and Scott Welsh both dislocated their fingers but should be right to play on after the break. Matthew Richardson will have scans to see the extent of his hamstring injury, the Tigers are hoping that it is only tightness which will mean he won’t miss a game. Daniel Kerr got barbed by a stingray on his foot but he is said to be right to train later in the week. Brock McLean and Joel McDonald both hurt their ankles, but it seems as though they’ll be right for their next games. Click here for the Real Footy injury report.

Graham Polak was woken from his coma today and showed positive signs. Although it is still too early to rule out permanent damage, Polak was able to squeeze hands of family members. At the scene, Polak was “deeply concussed” and scans do show “some areas of brain injury.” There are hopes that Polak will be moved from intensive care into a ward either tonight or tomorrow. Club Doctor Hickey said today that “there are no tubes, no drugs in him …  and at the moment is sleeping most of the time.”

Roy claims he will keep Polak in his PDT to show him support for the rest of the season! Good luck Roy and keeping fighting strong Polly!

Six games down… and we have to wait until next weekend to complete our scores for this round. This makes for sleepless nights - especially in my case… a head to head game with Vin-Twin and it is going to come down to the last game! Oh boy… it’s exciting!

The first ever celebrity to do a DT Talk intro, Graham Polak, was last night hit by a tram and is currently in an induced coma. Our thoughts are with Graham, his family and his team mates.

We have seen quite a few injuries over this round… Jordan Lewis has done a quad and will miss 3-4 weeks, Shane Crawford sat for a fair chunk of the game with a leg injury and Daniel Kerr had an awesome game, but the next day down at the beach for recovery, was spiked by a stingray. To add another to Vin’s injury list, Matthew Richardson hurt his hammy (a couple of weeks out is likely) - and what made it worse, Vin made him his captain!

It looks as though it will be a high scoring round at the half way mark of round 14. A lot of players have cracked the 100 point barrier… how’d your team going leading into todays games?

Ok… I’ve had quite a few beers this arvo after work (yes, a dodgy time to be looking at DT and making trades when you’re half charged) and have just looked at the teams for this week… and also looked at some news and stuff. You know, the regular stuff you do! There has been more outs of our teams than ever before… more trades needing to be done - what the hell is an upgrade?! All it is is patching up our bloody sides!

So anyway… I get home to see that Jeff White has been f*cking dropped! Why?! Seriously?! Shit! And now I’ve heard from Channel Ten news that a regular walk up 100 point getting midfielder, Kane Cornes, will stay with his wife who has just popped out a nugget! What the hell!?! the DT gods are having a massive laugh at us this week and I’m not haaarrrppppyyyy! What the hell can you do?

If you don’t have problems this week, you have been kissed on the dick by the good luck DT fairy! F*ck me! Not cool… not fair… bring on DT 2009!

UPDATE: Ok… Sunday teams are now up!! And what the f*ck?! We see that firstly Chris Judd is out with his concussion he sustained last week against Dons. And Melbourne ruckman, and arguably the second best ruck in DT, Jeff White has bee dropped by the Demons. What an absolute disgrace! How dare they?! At least most us have Matthew Kreuzer riding the pine to sub in for him! Grrrrr… The only positive is that Shane Valenti will finally play his third game - so get on him now, cash in the forward or midfielder for this nice $72K player… woo!! Screw DT 2008!

Here are the teams for the first 6 games of this DT nightmare that is the Split Round! Some interesting Dream Team snippets include Jake King being named as an emergency, Nick Dal Santo, Steven Milne and Justin Koschitzke coming back into the Saints line-up at the expense of Lenny Hayes, Ben McEvoy and Jarryn Geary. Down at the Bulldogs, old cash cow Josh Hill comes in for new cash cow Callan Ward. All of the Port players talked about this week (Chad Cornes, et al) are out - including Brendon Lade who was dropped! Shane Valenti is again that name that sits on the Demons extended interchange bench - stop being such a DT dick tease Dean Bailey! Daniel Bradshaw and Travis Johnstone are back into the Lions side.

We will endevour to post the updated teams tomorrow arvo (ie. the complete Sunday teams). We’ll all have to take a punt on those guys playing next weekend!
