Under 18 Championships

Files under 2008 | Posted by Warnie

The Under 18 Championships are underway again and some of our future cash cows are out there doing their best to be picked up by an AFL club so that they can find a place in our Dream Teams for next year. It has been interesting to read the articles on the AFL Website - with it’s page dedicated to the U18 Championships. Apart from the scores, goalkickers and best… there has been some ‘expert opinion’ on some of the stand out players. Look out for the names of blokes who win the ball and take marks (kicking goals is a bonus too - especially when many rookies start as forwards). Champion Data’s Fantasy Freako is at every game taking the stats and working out DT scores. In this week’s newsletter, Vic Country’s Nick Suban cops a massive mention - 109 points in 4 x 20 min quarters. He’ll be in my team next year!

If you aren’t signed up to the Fantasy Freako email, then you should be! The Freak is doing some scouting for us at the moment - giving us DT points for some of these young blokes kicking around. Click here to sign up now.

I reckon Sam Mardling from the SA side could be a player to watch, but havent been able to find any info on any SA games so I guess we will have to wait and see…

    good work guys.

Dan Rich is the best young player coming through the draft this year. I saw him play an under 15’s grand final vs my cousins team and he was amazing he kicked 7 goals or something from rover. I also saw him in the WAFL grand final last year and in my mind was best on ground. this kid is an absolute jet jump on him early. The other one is big Nat and Chris Yarron. Matt De Boer is doing well in the WAFL and Tom Swift is another great player but he is under an injury cloud with his knees. All this boys are coming out from W.A, watch them all in the championships all of them are dead set guns.

My dad and i take dream team really seriously, although dad has to balance his time with being the chief of police in Springfield.

However…scouting under 18 matches for potential future dream teamers??? Thats going a bit too far.

Whats next, taking the stats at little league and Auskick matches?

    Ralph

Love your work boys. Looking at the stats of last year’s U18 Carnival, this will be really helpful next year.

When the WA boys get involved I look forward to seeing some stats on Daniel Rich and Nicholas Naitanui, probably the first 2 draft picks at the end of this season.

Worry about this shit next year. The U18’s competition hasn’t even finished yet!

I’m sure some spastic like Fantasy Freakazoid will put all the U18 DT scores/averages together in time for ‘09 team selection.

Well, it’s useful (just not really this early). Most of the reporting after the draft focuses in on the absolute top picks, but the best DT bets tend to be the Ibbotsons of this world rather than the Kreuzers!

Ralph, mate watching the aus kids play during halftime of an afl match and picking who looks the goods can be crucial to your success in 2013. Those kids all have a game under their belt playing on a big stage and at a big ground. the only problem is if you are following the game to closely people start thinking your a pedophile rather than an honest scout.

Ralph and Chief Wiggum u disgust me. as if not reading about next year doesnt excite ya.. i wished i had of read about all the guns from last year. ya always gotta plan for next year. unless u win the v6 aurion then ill let ya off but in the mean time keep it to urself and dont write negative responses to these champs.

Watch Johnny Boras from SA, hes a tank and will get drafted this year. Plays forward and around half forward and has a solid body. If he gets drafted, hes in my team for sure. Yea, and also, he averages 8 goals a game in under 19’s in SA, so hes a gun

if Charlie Dixion from QLD gets drafted, get on him.
    he’s a machine of a ruckman.
he’s like the dean cox of U18’s.
    VERY mobile for his size!
should be very close to AFL ready next year
