Looking ahead to DT in 2009

Files under 2008 | Posted by Warnie

Tasmania's Mitch Robinson has won the Division Two Hunter-Harrison Medal at the NAB AFL Under-18 ChampionshipsWhich rookies will be the jets and the ‘must haves’ in next years DT? The NAB Under 18s Championships are underway (well done to Tassie who have been promoted!) and the next crop of Dream Team Cash Cows are playing their hearts out to possibly be selected in our 2009 Dream Teams. This article from the AFL website has some words of wisdom from Geelong recruiting assisant, Luke Williams. As a ‘future planner’ for DT, maybe keep track of some of the ‘ball winners’ and guys who are likely to ’stat-it-up’ to help with selecting next years DT. One guy to keep an eye on is Tasmania’s Mitch Robinson, who racked up 16 touches in kicked 2 goals - earning him the Hunter-Harrison Medal.

I already want Ranga Ediriwickrama (from NSW/ACT) just for his name alone - but he can play too! I wonder if he was named after Cameron Ling?

Ranga is gonna be Brownlow material on the name alone. If he doesn’t have red hair, he should certainly be dying it

Yeah- Ranga goes to my school- im in year 10 now but 3 years ago i played alongside him in the 15s team. He is a freak. I remember winning games by 100+ points in the knockout tournament. Ranga then missed a game due to injury and the team got smashed. The difference without him was unbelievable. He is also our best cricketer in the school- bowls 130km/h+, consistently makes centuries etc. capt. school team
