Injuries from Round 6

Files under 2008 | Posted by Warnie

DT Talk HospitalQuite a few injuries were sustained over the ANZAC weekend of footy… and quite a few that will affect our Dream Teams. The big one is Chad Cornes and his broken finger… he is confident he will just miss this week and come back in a fortnight wearing a glove! Go The Chad! Bret Thornton was another bloke a heap of people jumped on and would have been gutted that he scored 2 points and then wasn’t seen for the rest of the game. His knee injury will mean he will miss around 4 weeks. Adam Hartlett’s hamstring will sideline him for around 3 weeks. Justin Fletcher will miss a couple of weeks with his groin injury while team mate Alwyn Davey, is another added to the ‘out for the season’ list. Aaron Edwards looks to have have cracked a bone in his leg… probably miss around 6 weeks. The worlds best DT ruckman, Dean Cox, is struggling with his ongoing foot problem… watch this space. Some other guys who sustained injuries and are touch and go for this weekend are: Tom Harley, Antoni Grover, Roger Hayden, Steven Dodd, Ben Rutten, Adam Hunter and Shannon Hurn. There also might be some possible returns this week. Full injury lists will be published later today.

The word on Channel Ten news last night was that Shannon Hurn was out for 4 -6 weeks with a cracked Fibula. Maybe Scott Selwood could take his place..

Just read this and thought it might be of interest to those with the Chad.

PORT Adelaide utility Chad Cornes says he will be sidelined until at least round nine of the AFL season because of a broken finger.

Cornes has had surgery to repair the ring finger on his right hand which was broken during Port’s win over St Kilda.

Cornes confirmed today he would miss the AFL’s Dream Team game against Victoria at the MCG on Saturday May 10.

“There were bits of bone and bits and pieces everywhere,” Cornes said of his injury.

“They put a plate across the top of the break and six or seven screws in it as well, so it was a pretty decent break.”

Cornes said the earliest he could return was Port Adelaide’s home fixture against Sydney on May 24.

Warnie, everyone knows that SuperCoach shits on DT (i’m going to cop it for that)…how about some supercoach on ths site?

So basically he could come back on May 24th if everything heals perfectly… I don’t rely on best case scenarios so I’m assuming they probably won’t risk him until maybe even a week or two later than that. Sounds like more of a shatter than a break.
