Cash cows or not!

Files under 2008 | Posted by Tit-ed

Its the round that we have all been waiting for, who has gone up and who has gone down in value, are they really cash cows or just really fat cows, who do you love and who do you hate, who do you want and who do you need! Well I’m about to tell you in the post below because you are either pulling you hair out or jumping for joy!

5 biggest increases in value.

  1. Josh Hill - Bulldogs - FWD - Up $72,200
  2. Travis Tuck - Hawthorn - MID - Up $53,900
  3. Paul Medhurst - Collingwood - FWD - Up $49,500
  4. Cyril Rioli - Hawthorn - FWD - Up $49,400
  5. Bernie Vince - Adelaide - FWD - Up $46,300

5 biggest decreases in value (but dont panic just yet)

  1. Heath Scotland - Carlton - MID - Down $43,800
  2. Cameron Bruce - Melbourne - MID - Down $41,100
  3. Jono Brown - Brisbane - FWD - Down $36,500
  4. Steve Johnson - Geelong - FWD - Down $36,100
  5. Aaron Davey - Melbourne - FWD - Down $34,800 (INJ)

Well there you have it, some big names I know in the decreases section, but like I said no need to panic just yet if you have them, if you dont then this might be a good time to look at getting them in as they are all noted ball winners and big goal kickers. Couple there that might be a chance to slide into the Tackling Tit-ed side.

Have 2 out of each section. Worried most about Steve Johnson, no way will I trade him though. Very seriously considering a B Houli to Travis Tuck trade this week. Haven’t traded yet.

I am happy I only have 1 from the boys who are going down!! I am however happy I have 2 from the increases - and also happy one of them isn’t Medhurst… how could anyone in their right mind pick him?! haha..

Although BJ didn’t drop heaps this week is by far my biggest worry. And, I got the two Hawkers boys in the biggest increases.

Wouldn’t worry too much about BJ. Spent a fair bit of time off the ground with an injury on the weekend. Wonder if he is getting a bit old though? Dogs are playing well without a huge input from him (bar rd 1)

Has there been a bigger increase in one week than Josh Hill

I forgot to trade on Friday night which meant I didn’t get Osborne or Hill :( (would’ve had Hill in the first place if it wasn’t for me being a rookie and listening to BigFooty)

Hill is set to go up another 70k this week if he scores around the same. Playing Essendon so should be free flowing and high scoring.

Is it worth getting anyone who went up this week ?

Surely Tuck cant keep going with Crawf and the boys back this week ?

Im regretting not getting HILL… should i jump on him now or what ?

I have 3 in the first and now in the second section. Time to cash in and get some points

Just a quick question the breakeven calc, does it work week in week out, or was it just a one off.

  12. GravatarBy Raf on Apr 7, 2008 | Reply

Traded A Edwards and Scott D Thompson into J Hill and J Roughead. So far, so good.

Besides trading into Hill, I’ve had Rioli from the start.

Happily don’t have anyone on the 5 biggest fallers list. My worst performer on the cash front has been Brad Johnson- got to consider whether to do a sideways trade before he falls further, or trust that he’ll come back into form.

Ingo - BE calculator *should* work each week - put in the players CURRENT price - ie, what it has changed to.. and the 2 round averages.. ;)

I don’t know why people would go to an effort to work out breakeven when all the breakevens are already done for us on fanfooty, haha.

Hey Raf, sounds like we are similar, I traded Edwards and Thompson for Hill and Osbourne last week and I have three on the up list and none on the down list. My worst is Brad Johnson too.

Just found out my mate is now No. 1 in Australia, what a bstrd. He’ll read this so hopefully he replies, Dobbs you suck!!!!!!!

The bloke I thought about trading for Hill, Hawkins, done alright. But, I really do wish I traded Tippet for Hill. Ahwell, thats DT for ya.

But anyone thinking about get Hill this week - don’t. For a couple of reasons…

    1. There was obviously a reason why you didn’t get him last week, why would you now?
    2. Everyone is having a rough time with Rookies in the backline, so use that trade to get on the very juicy Harry Taylor or Pfeiffer.
    3. you have to pay an extra 70k for him, plus you missed out on that 70k rise, so really your 140k behind everyone else that got him last week.
    4. Palmer is looking just as good as Hill in the midfield. So, don’t regret it this time and get on him.

Thinking about Nicoski for Taylor, Boak for Palmer or a sideways trade for BJ this week.

Got Hill and Riolli, but I also got JB. I also have Palmer which leads me to my question. Im thinking of trading Foley for Tuck and free up some money to pick up a big gun like THE CHAD later on. Please note I have Palmer sitting on the bench so he can take Foleys spot. Can Tuck maintain his average? Thanks in advance for any advice.

    ha shit ay, No.1 spot.
got a feeling that wont last long.

missed out on pickin up hill tho, spewin

will taylor stay in the geelong team

  20. GravatarBy fredsta pal on Apr 7, 2008 | Reply

I’m not sure about Taylor either ?

Egan too return somewhere along the track ? Im not sure what other big defenders geelong have but could be handy for a while

Would you be taking Pfieffer or Taylor ?

  21. GravatarBy the wallcob on Apr 7, 2008 | Reply

pfieffer, somehwat of a bias response because i have him myself. but while harry taylor might be a better contributor while hes playing, he has a far greater chance of getting dropped because he plays in a side like geelong with so much depth as opposed to carlton who most people know are massively average at the best of times.

According to the Herald-Sun, BJ spent 88% TOG on Friday night. Having watched the game, it looked as though he played out of the goal square most of the night, but the dogs just had too many options.

On an unrelated note - can someone explain how Nathan Jones had a BE of 63 in round 3 (according to fanfooty), scored 71 points, and depreciated by $1,000?

  23. GravatarBy roy on Apr 7, 2008 | Reply

no idea mo town!! i saw his break even and assumed he went up….. did he really fall??

  24. GravatarBy Warnie on Apr 7, 2008 | Reply

the mystery number isnt was was expected… we will look at it ASAP.. and see what we come up with… the whole BE thing and new prices is different to 07..

  25. GravatarBy Cherries on Apr 7, 2008 | Reply

Unrelated, but is Scott D Thompson injured? I see he didn’t even play for North Ballarat.

  26. GravatarBy Raf on Apr 7, 2008 | Reply

Yeah, I think to some extent the good form of Hill (and to a lesser extent Mitch Hahn, Robert Murphy etc) is robbing Brad Johnson of points rather than Johnson being out of form himself, which is what inclines me towards making the sideways trade (probably for Chapman)

Yes, please trade out the smiling assassin. That’s something a quality DTer would do…

ive got 250,000 in the bank, does anyone think i shood waste it by trading Nicoski for Osbourne or has he peaked already?

  29. GravatarBy Mo-town on Apr 7, 2008 | Reply

    Cheers Warnie.

  30. GravatarBy Chook on Apr 7, 2008 | Reply

Tit, I’d be licking my lips at the thought of trading in some of the under-performing guns too, except I have most of them already!

Anyway, if you think these guys will improve and want to buy them cheap, wait another week or so yet. Steve Johnson and Cam Bruce still have breakevens around the 170-point mark, while Jonathan Brown and Heath Scotland need about 190 to avoid slipping any further.

  31. GravatarBy Juddy's love child on Apr 11, 2008 | Reply

Why can’t I find a list of all the breakeven’s anywhere? everyone in the world seems to have them except me….I am going to cry soon.

Can anyone provide me a site so I don’t have to calculate them anymore.
