Arh har me hearties - Few rippers for you this week. Plus a few newbies in here to look at! So you understand - #8 Cox - 110 (#8 is his DT ranking based on averages and then his score Vs opponent). Sorry for last week, giving Chad my #1 spot and the order I placed some players, something I take massive pride in, but we can’t predict injuries can we. Some people like to ‘go against the flow’ and pick away from my selections… fair enough, good luck with it, but I know best! Enjoy! (more…)
For the 24,863 DT coaches who have Trent West sitting on the pine trying to make some money, the fact that Shane Mumford has taken his spot in the Cats line up will annoy the hell out of them. West hasn’t been the ruck cash cow we wanted, but was doing enough to tick over the $ for us. Now with Mumford in his debut last week, getting a pathetic 18 points, he is getting another game… and leaving West playing in the magoos. DT is never easy!
A massive fan of DT Talk, Billy Brownless opens the show before Warnie has to listen to something at the MCG on ANZAC Day that he didn’t really want to hear and give some props to Vin-Twin… then VT sends something in for us to watch about his love for Paul Medhurst - disgusting! We learn that the overall winner of our official DT Talk leagues will walk away with an awesome prize from sportznut.com.au. As we always get the scoops, we hear from the guy that has been leading the whole world in DT for the last few weeks, Jonathon. What a legend! Also check a new entrant in the “DT is Alright With Me” competition and hear what the winer of that will get! Bloody awesome prize! Stat Attack is back, Albert Lord works properly this week and Chopper is actually really not very f-ing happy this week! All that and more on the Round 7 Episode of DT Talk…

WARNING - this article might make you mad. It might make you feel really good about yourself, or it might make your little eyes light up with some of the bargains you might see. Either way, please offer your opinions and suggest players I have missed off my TOP 10 PICKS and TOP 10 DIXS of 2008. I’m putting it on the line here. I will be bagged!
UPDATE: Daniel Kerr accepts 3 match ban, but is eligible to play in the Dream Team game. How is that possible?
ANOTHER UPDATE: Chad Cornes listened… but he copped a week! Doesn’t matter for DT though! Nice…
Eagle Daniel Kerr can take 3 matches if he pleads guilty… or risk 5 by fighting his charge! Be smart there Daniel… you are no chance to get less weeks than that! Josh Carr can take 3 weeks, even though his charge was only worth two weeks - his bad record has hurt him there. All other blokes can play next week with early pleas as outlined in this article.
But I think Chad Cornes should fight his report. Here’s why: if he pleads guilty, he gets 93.75 points towards his next tribunal hearing if reported again, and Chad being Chad… will probably get reported sometime. But with his finger injury, he will miss at least one week anyway, so it would be worth the risk in my opinion to fight the charge… either get off, or get a week, it’s not going to matter - apart from Brownlow of course… I’m being DT selfish here, I don’t want Chad suspended for a soft report in the future… especially if it’s close to finals time!
News from the Herald Sun Superfooty site says that the earliest that Chad Cornes could play on the 24th May. So that means he will miss this week against Essendon, the Dream Team game and then the game against Hawthorn. This is the best case scenario… 2 DT games. Could be more though.
As DT coaches, we can only hope that those bench players that so many of us have will get a game… Scott D Thompson, Harry Taylor, Austin Wonaeamirri, Albert Proud or Scott Selwood (altough we have heard unconfirmed rumours that he was injured on the weekend in the WAFL) will have the pressure on them this week for a few extra points this week.
What are your backline worries? Got cover? Will you sit on the Cornes trade? Do you have other injured/suspended/shit backs like Bret Thornton, Joel Bowden, Shannon Hurn, etc?
Quite a few injuries were sustained over the ANZAC weekend of footy… and quite a few that will affect our Dream Teams. The big one is Chad Cornes and his broken finger… he is confident he will just miss this week and come back in a fortnight wearing a glove! Go The Chad! Bret Thornton was another bloke a heap of people jumped on and would have been gutted that he scored 2 points and then wasn’t seen for the rest of the game. His knee injury will mean he will miss around 4 weeks. Adam Hartlett’s hamstring will sideline him for around 3 weeks. Justin Fletcher will miss a couple of weeks with his groin injury while team mate Alwyn Davey, is another added to the ‘out for the season’ list. Aaron Edwards looks to have have cracked a bone in his leg… probably miss around 6 weeks. The worlds best DT ruckman, Dean Cox, is struggling with his ongoing foot problem… watch this space. Some other guys who sustained injuries and are touch and go for this weekend are: Tom Harley, Antoni Grover, Roger Hayden, Steven Dodd, Ben Rutten, Adam Hunter and Shannon Hurn. There also might be some possible returns this week. Full injury lists will be published later today.
In news overnight, Sydney player Darren Jolly, had a handball when he should have technically been off the ground. His team mate, rookie-ruck-to-keep-an-eye-on Jesse White, entered play while Jolly stayed on the ground for 30-40 seconds. Jolly’s handball ultimately resulted in a rushed behind and therefore the draw in the game. But, those extra two points for Jolly’s handball could be valuable for the 3,379 coaches who have him - considering Jolly is a spud and not a DTer at all. So good luck to you…

Is thankfully no where near this bad. If Chads hand looked like this he would be out at least 3-4 weeks. Glove or no glove. Damn he is tough!!
