We’re going to go through each position and look at categories of players to try and help you pick the right guys for your Dream Team. We’ll take into account price, DT history, pre-season form and whether Dream Team scores have an obvious influence on their game play! Each player will get the ‘must have’ rating out of 10.
The Big Guns:
- Chad Cornes ($439,600): 10/10 - rarely plays a bad game, moves forward and on the ball if he feels the need to boost his DT scores!
- Joel Bowden ($413,400): 9/10 - doesn’t take any shame in receiving cheap kick to kick in the backline, especially at the end of a quarter!
- Adam McPhee ($388,300): 8/10 - plays all over the ground, loves a mark which helps boost his score.
- Peter Burgoyne ($388,000): 7.5/10 - majority of kicks out of the backline come through him hence a great average. Age is a slight worry.
- Heath Shaw ($368,800): 7/10 - although it looks like he is injured and limping all the time, he still hobbles around to achieve decent scores for a backman. Carries the very attractive tag of designated kicker!
The Middies:
- Grant Birchall ($343,300): 7/10 - rarely has an opponent and seeps the half back line. Can push forward to get his kicks up. Will be a DT Gun this year!
- Tadhg Kennelly ($283,600): 7/10 - underpriced due to a stinky second half of 2007 due to injury, risky, but potential cash cow if he stays fit.
- Adam Hunter ($324,300): 6/10 - can be inconsistent due to his role but rarely misses a game and can get you a hundred.
- Michael Johnson ($300,900): 6/10 - rumoured to have a bigger role as a designated kicker type. This should increase marks and kicks for a noticable average increase.
- Scott Stevens ($283,500): 5.5/10 - has been playing forward and averaging over 80 in the NAB Cup and has kicked 50 goals from 81 games. A regular season risk depending on position, but is it a risk worth taking?
The Young Guns:
- Scott Selwood ($83,500): 9/10 - looks to be a certain starter. Will hopefully do what brother Joel did last year.
- Tom Lonergan ($92,500): 8/10 - has a big ticker and his NAB form exceeds his current price by over $150,000.
- Darren Pfeiffer ($83,500): 7/10 - averaged 59 DT points in first 2 NAB Cup games. Looks like he’ll cement a spot in the Blues line-up.
- David Myers ($103,500): 6/10 - has shown he can play at AFL level, handy pick up as a back or centre.

Ive heard Scott Selwood wont play much due to his schooling (Yr 12). Any truth in this?
the only place i have seen that is on forums… if he is named roune one.. he’s in the Warne Dawgs, but if not, bye bye…
would like to see a proper news thing about it..
The two other low priced options I have my eye on are Harry Taylor who’s playing CHB for Geelong while Egan is out for the first 12 weeks and Albert Proud, he’s doing well in the Challenge games with another BOG on the weekend.
Harry Taylor… yeah, gotta be wary of the Cats…but could be a good option… there are other backs that are averaging more than Hazza..
Albert Proud… GET ON!! He is a sure thing!!
stupid not too..
S.Valenti $83,000 for melb been in there best 3 for last 2 games including 1 game with 21 touches.. any chance he’ll start?
Valenti is on the rookie list.. he would need to come off that first to be eligible for a game… if he does come off tho, get on.. massive DT potential!!
I’m not sure Proud will get an early opportunity, but when he gets named, get on before his 3rd game!
Hey Warnie - I hope m0nty isn’t too upset with your website - looking great - keep it up! But PLEASE don’t tease us with potential dates of DT start dates until you know for sure - I can’t take the disappointment again…
hey dude… i don’t think monty has anything to be worried about… hid information and service is much better than ours!!!
sorry about the opening date (again)… i was just as disappointed!!!!!!
Agreed that stats and so forth on fanfooty are great - in fact I couldn’t do without them, but the blogs and overall “feel” of this website is probably a bit better.
When is the next Champion Data report coming out with last weekend’s NAB games?
haha.. thanks man.. we try to impress
as for the email… the last one came out on Wednesday.. so maybe then?? can’t wait.. quality reading!
Interesting that McLoud isn’t on the list
are u gonna make one of these things for the midfielders, rucks and forwards???
yep.. when we get around to it!!
