Cotchin Delayed

Trent Cotchin(Thanks to Chad): Oh no… Richmond (and more importantly DT) fans will have to wait until at least round three of the home and away season to see Trent Cotchin, their top pick from the latest NAB National Draft, in action. The Tigers have placed the exciting 17-year-old midfielder, the No.2 overall pick in last November’s draft, on the long-term injury list, with a broken bone in his foot and Achilles tendon soreness. It means he will have to sit out the pre-season and the opening two rounds of the season proper. As a massively talked up young dude, Cotchin has been a lock in many teams that have been discussed in the pre-season… even as a potential starter! He is listed as a Centre and will sell for $119,500.

Chad asks: Is it still work picking him given if he plays in round 3, his value wont increase until atleast the enf of round 5 and taking up a valuable center place?

  1. Will have to see how someone like Brad Ebert goes in the NAB cup (assuming he plays). With Cousins and Judd gone (and Kerr done the hamstring) maybe he will get a chance in the middle (and at 83k).

  2. There are a few floaters in the CTR… I’m having trouble with my FWDs at the moment! Seller is a lock at the moment… maybe Rioli??

  3. (thanks for sending this to us too mate… brilliant – even tho its shitty news for me! haha)..

  4. I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you.

  5. Seller is a lock for me Warnie being from Adelaide (and a Port Fan) I suggest taking a look at Marlon Motlop through the NAB cup. He is listed as a forward but could get a spot in the middle, but he also shown a lot in the internal trial as a running half back.

I am going to see how he goes in the NAB cup.

  6. Hmm.. Marlon… will he get a run?? So many exciting things to look at this week in the footy!! Woo.. it’s gonna be awesome!

  7. Just saw this come through the news and was going to let you know about but seems your ahead of the game!

  8. this is great for dt… think about it.. if cotchin comes into the lineup round 3 or 4… he is 2 weeks of scores… so were at round 5 or 6… hopefully even later, then u can downgrade another cheap mid to cotchin if he has performed and will rise in cash… unfortunate for cotchin, fortunate for my dt ha

  9. great point pol!! the only thing is, he is gonna be just that tad bit more expensive ($120k) than an $83k player who could also be going up… but yeah.. if you upgrade a Nick Stevens at round 6, for Cotchin (especially if he is as good as expected), could mean a big jump up in a gun midfielder… i guess its like everything… wait and see! haha..

  10. what about chris masten?? apparantly he’s a judd like player taken pick 3 in the draft. He’s almost garantueed a starting role with judd and cousins gone. i think he’s the next perfect pick with no cotchin until at least round 3.

  11. fuck cotchin isnt better than morton in my opinion.
